I thought this title would get some attention! We all handle our addictions in different ways. With the holidays coming up (there's always a holiday coming up...) a friend of mine asked for this recipe. When you make it, it looks...boring. Like chocolate pound cake. The taste, though, is out of this world. Every single person that has tried this cake has asked me for the recipe or to make it again. I hope others share their remedies for Sugar addiction.

For those who use metric, I used a great app that converts everything, so I hope this is right. If not, let me know and I'll fix it. I wasn't sure if things like cake mixes were weight measured in grams or not.

Black Russian Bundt Cake

1 pkg. yellow cake mix, without pudding (18.25 oz. or 517 grams)
1/2 c. sugar (125 ml)
1 pkg. instant chocolate pudding and pie filling (6 oz. or 170 grams)
1 c. vegetable oil (250 ml)
4 eggs
1/4 c. chocolate-flavored vodka (62.5ml)
1/4 c. coffee-flavored liqueur (62.5ml)
3/4 c. water (187.5ml)
Glaze (below)
Powdered sugar

In a large mixer bowl, combine first 8 ingredients. Mix at low speed about 1 minute; beat at medium speed 4 minutes. Pour into greased and floured 10 inch (25.4 cm) Bundt pan. Bake in a 350F (176.7C) degree oven until tests 'done' with a wooden pick (60-70 minutes).

Prepare Glaze. Let cake cool in pan ten minutes; invert onto rack or plate. Poke holes in cake with tines of fork; slowly pour Glaze over, let seep into cake. Cool completely, dust with powdered sugar. Servings: 18-24.

Glaze:
Combine 1/2 c (125ml) unsifted powdered sugar and 1/4 c. (62.5ml) coffee-flavored liqueur; blend until smooth.

NOTE: For stronger flavor, some of the water can be substituted with additional vodka and/or liqueur.

I think I'm the only one who doesn't call Glenn 'Sugar'.

On topic I don't really have a sweet tooth.

Delectable recipe! But yes, predictably, I too initially thought this should be in Glenn's forum before reading it and realizing the title was literal, lol. "Addicted to Sugar" indeed!

Actually, except for this recipe, I seldom eat sweets. I'm not addicted to 'cane' sugar. And while I have a fine appreciation for Captain Morgan, I'm not addicted to distilled sugar, either. It's just Sugar that I'm addicted to.

As great as this recipe is, my sister has informed me she wants chocolate cheesecake for Christmas dessert. Probably because it's more difficult to make.

I should mention that the recipe above, even though you start with yellow cake mix, it's NOT a yellow cake, it's chocolate-colored. A friend of mine skips the glaze and makes a powdered sugar icing using Baileys Irish Cream instead of water or milk. Which is good but way too sweet for me.
