You have some great pics...

We have tix for Friday's show in Atlanta and I have a question: All of the pre-concert info that we've see says for the Atlanta shows "NO CAMERAS of any kind."

To what degree was this enforced??? Bags searched upon entry & violators denied admission? Cameras allowed in, but ushers/security personnel enforcing NO use policy? Cameras allowed in and still pictures (but no flash) allowed, with ushers/security personnel watching for people shooting video?

We have both a compact point & shoot and a larger P&S with a very good zoom. Neither of these has a removable lens.

We've been assigned to park in a "shuttle" lot and don't want to get sent "back to the car" because of a camera.

Thanks in advance for any/all info....MikeT

Verna---I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These are gorgeous but this one took my breath away!!!!!

turpin- most of us here have had very little problems getting cameras into venues and very seldom had any trouble getting pictures. Glenn had gotten to a point where he even tells the audience it's ok to take pictures but no video. Good luck!! And welcome to The Border, btw!!!

Mike, if they search bags (they didn't ours, but we had a VIP entrance), they are looking for weapons, etc. If you have a camera, they'll let you in (they might not if they see a removable lens). At some shows the ushers/security enforce the no camera 'law', but they didn't last night. If you hold it for any length of time, like if you're recording, they'll stop you. HH and I will be there tomorrow night. You'll see our review in a little while, but it was a totally awesome show. It was hard to sleep last night, just remembering...

Soda will post the detailed review soon, but as I'm sure you all know, the concert was super fantastic. The vocals were excellent and the magic that is the Eagles was simply amazing. The crowd on the floor (not sure about the lawn) were on their feet the moment the guys came out and stood the entire time.

It usually takes me about an hour to write a review and I need to get back to Memphis, so it'll be a while longer. However, I want to add that despite the fact that the set list was even shorter than Vegas, I still had a wonderful time. Being front row center kind of blew my mind. I've had front row many times for Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, and Lindsey Buckingham shows but it's a very different vibe with the Eagles and it took some mental adjustment, lol. I'll need some time to recover!

What a fabulous night!!! Soda, VA, Zelda and I got to the venue early so we could relax and soak it all in. What a beautiful venue. It reminded me a little bit of the Hollywood Bowl. There is just something special about seeing them in an open-aired venue and being so close is just the icing on the cake.

I've been fortunate enough to have been in the front row before, but never with other Border members and I'm happy to say it really makes a difference. (Sorry, honey.) Front the first moments of Seven Bridges Road to the last notes of Desperado I was in Eagles Heaven.

We are running out to meet LP for dinner so I'll post more about the concert later, but I'm looking forward to sharing in her excitement as she anticipates her first ever Eagles concert. I so "get" that I'm lucky in that I get to go to tomorrow night's show as well. I don't want to ever take it for granted.

Don was working it. He was in a great mood and it was reflected in his performance. Love the man's smile. He just seemed to be genuinely happy to be playing the drums and being in the moment. (Plus he is kinda cute.)

Gotta run to meet LP. Will post more later.

I know just how you feel, and so do lots of other Borderers 'cos we've all been there! You'll never forget the first time you saw the Eagles - the anticipation, the butterflies in the tummy, that feeling you get when they appear on stage.......like being stunned and unable to move, the elation during the show, and floating home on cloud nine. It's what losing your Eagles virginity is all about. Congratulations, you've done it!:yay:

Setlist, unchanged from Vegas except they dropped ASWTDID. They seemed to fill in the time with letting Joe play to his (our) hearts content on a few songs...they seemed longer than before.

Seven Bridges Road
How Long
Take It To The Limit
Hotel California
Peaceful Easy Feeling
Witchy Woman
Lyin’ Eyes
I Can’t Tell You Why
Walk Away
Boys of Summer
In The City
Long Run
Life’s Been Good
Dirty Laundry
Funk 49
Heartache Tonight
Life In The Fastlane
Take It Easy
Rocky Mountain Way
Desperado

Just got back about a half hour ago from a VERRRRY difficult drive and I'm exhausted. No review from me right now. Sorry :(

Regarding the setlist, I will add that I didn't remember ASWTDID from my Vegas show (which was different from the one HH and VA went to), but I do seem to remember them playing BOML.... since I didn't write it down, though, I could be remembering incorrectly. Maybe one of the other Borderers who was there can help. Unfortunately, because I thought I remembered it from Vegas, I was expecting BOML and I was disappointed when it wasn't played.

Gosh, how short are these shows going to get? Come on! Their 40th Anniversary deserves more than the minimum, even if this isn't "officially" a 40th Anniversary tour. At this point, I'm thinking that I'm not going to go to any more Eagles shows after JazzFest unless they make some changes to their setlist.... and I don't mean cutting more songs.

But hey, the music we did get was great! Fabulous vocals and musicianship. It's definitely worth going for people who haven't seen them yet.

Well hopefully for the "official" 40th tour, they'll amp it up again. At this point, they have pretty much cut the setlist by 1/3 since they started out on the LROOE tour but the prices are still through the roof. Not cool, guys!

Soda, Glad you made it home safely & I'm sure you had an amazing time at the show! Looking at that set list, I see lots of things missing. To see that LROOE is pretty much gone from the set list except for 1 song is pretty disappointing. Would love to see WITW on there. Also, Timothy only doing 1 song is another disappointment. I see that Don's songs, HOTM, TEOTI , also not included.

I hope they will be doing a longer set list for next years tour. I would guess that this is pretty much the set for the Vegas show in Nov. as well. I would love to get to that show, but I'm still on the fence due to the cost. Also, the tickets that were still available were not the greatest.
I guess this is what it is. Who knows how much longer they will even be touring. At this point, they don't need the money. They are all promoting solo albums, & it's been 40 years. We have to take whatever we can get as fans!

I had to chuckle when I read this...NOT that it's funny they may not tour much longer. But I had this flash of these guys turning 65 and applying for Medicare and Social Security benefits! Now THAT'S funny!

However, I can't imagine any of them slowing down that much, let alone quitting.

I don't think they will retire, but they are all doing solo shows, so they may not want to do the big tours much longer. I'm sure they will do a big tour in 2013, but after that...who knows??? It's a lot of traveling & doing a 2 hour show for months on end has got to be grueling. Even young bands complain about the constant travel & being away from home. I mean they are at a point where they can do pretty much whatever they want. So maybe they may want to hang out & play golf all day!

You say this was 'shorter' but I can't see any difference from any shows they have recently played. You mention BOML but as the acoustic section has been completely cut that seems highly unlikely to me. Sorry if I'm wrong.

The over-reliance on Walsh & Henley solo songs needs to be addressed. Quite simply, if they came back here with this setlist, I would not go & see it. I have no need.

They weren't really touring in either 1996 or 2000; I have bootlegs of them from 2003 & they did not do that song. I think if they had done it I would have read about it and I'm afraid I never have.

Oh really, well I have the ticket stubs from 1996, and I am sure I saw them in either 2000 or 2001. I probably have those stubs also, but I don't know where they are. I don't see how you can possibly know every concert they ever did. Not every concert is recorded or written about.

They did tour in 1996, but in 2000 they were preparing the box set & they had all the trouble with Felder. After they fired Felder they went to Europe in 2001, I don't know about the US but I will take your word for it. The point remains though; you are the only person I have ever heard claim they once played EOTI.

The concert I saw was on June 25, 1996 @ Nassau Coliseum. It was not part of HFO & was a slightly different set list. I am almost positive that Don did The End of the Innocence at this show. I only saw him do it once & I'm sure that it was at this show.

Glad you all had such a great time on your road trip to Atlanta. VA - your pictures are fantastic. The boys are looking GREAT!!!

With regard to the Eagles performing EOTI, I would be very surprised about that, too. Of all the bootlegs and setlists that I've seen, I've never heard it mentioned. Now, of course, that's not to say it didn't happen. However, it would be very much out of character for this band to perform a solo song impromptu that they had never performed before, but it is certainly not impossible. Don almost always performs the song in his solo shows, but TK, if you saw the Eagles perform the song, you saw a rare treat, indeed.

I'm preparing the review now.

With regard to the 1996 setlist, I happen to collect live shows and have one from July 1996 that occurred just two weeks after Topkat's. "The End of the Innocence" was not a part of that setlist. While it's not impossible they tried it out for a night or two which topkat was lucky enough to witness and then they decided to drop it within two weeks, it's highly improbable.

Along the same lines, I have begun to think that I misremembered about BOML being in the setlist in Las Vegas in November 2011. HH and VA do not remember it from the night they attended. It does not seem probable that they would play it one night and not the other. It is far more probable that I'm remembering wrong.

As many shows as you attend, I don't know how you keep any of it straight. :headscratch:

It is possible that they tried doing a song for a show or two & then decided to drop it, especially years ago, when they were just reunited. The show I went to was a benefit, so maybe Don did it for that, who knows. Maybe I imagined the whole thing, but I don't think so.

Anyway, beautiful shot of Timothy! Thank you VA

just joined this board so I can share with you my photos. never saw the Eagles in concert before and so glad I did. it was great ( altho a bit short) funny story- my husband was home recovering from minor surgery and I asked him if he minded if I went to the Eagles Wed assuming I could get a ticket. he said fine. it also helps that I live 10 minutes from the venue ( in Roswell GA)

so I logged onto ticketmaster 6 hours before the show and up pops a ticket in the 2nd row! grabbed it. it was awesome being up that close, great night.

try this link for my pictures, might be easier than the time photobucket takes. just scroll thru them at the top right. last pic is me, the 56 year old lady right before the concert. enjoy the pics

your welcome. still can't believe I got 2nd row. I shelled out huge bucks for Aerosmith VIP meet and great package for July in Atlanta ( a dream of mine) 1200 bucks. and that's in the 4th row! husband said that could be my birthday/christmas/anniversary gift.

Well, welcome to The Border oscarmom and thank you so much for sharing your story and pics with us! We would love to hear more details about the show if you have the time! And how cool to get a 2nd row ticket at the last minute like that!

Stick around if you love the Eagles as much as most of us around here. You'll find you quite like it!

You were sooo lucky! Some of The Border's seasoned concert goers have said that great tickets are often dropped at the last minute, but they are often single seats. Our fearless leader here on the Border, Soda, is a seasoned veteran of waiting until the last moment to try to get a real good seat. I think she has been almost always successful!

enjoyed every minute of the show. Don missed a beat on one song ( forget which) and said to the crowd after it ended "that was the new version of the song". only complaint, they could have played longer. I particularly liked the Joe Walsh songs, those took me back.
Verizon Alpharetta is a great venue, just the right size. glad I don't drink tho- a beer is 9 bucks, premium beer 12 bucks. based on some of the crowd, I think some people spent more on beer than tickets. overall tho the crowd was great and I was home at 10:30

ZZ Top will be playing there as well as Crosby, Stills, Nash later this summer. maybe I will try that last minute ticket thing again

Welcome oscarmom!!!! And congrats on the 2nd row ticket! Thanks much for sharing with us. Nice pics!!!

I particularly liked the Joe Walsh songs, those took me back.

Hard to make the point of less solo songs and more Eagles like the ongoing discussion in the Change the Setlist thread when you see statements like this! They are great songs, for sure!!!

been an Eagles fan for a long time- my second favorite band. ( ok, go ahead and yell at me !). first and foremost is Aerosmith. never seen them in concert and decided now's the time. who knows how much longer they can do this. this tour might be it. they are all getting older, so am I.

also love Tom Petty, saw him April 29 same venue in GA ( got an ok seat for that). he was great and gives you your money's worth- played over 2 and a half hours non stop. the American Girl encore was unbelievable

Welcome and glad to hear you enjoyed the concert.

I'm very jealous about the Aerosmith show - they are definitely in my top 5 bands and I'm a big Joe Perry fan and he's a huge influence on me as a guitarist. Aerosmith is an amazing band.
