Happy Mother's Day to one and all... In honor of mothers everywhere, the top 10 'Momisms':

1. Why? Because I said so, that's why!
2. I'm going to give you until the count of three!
3. It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt (my mother actually said this to me, age 50, this weekend while my sister and I were getting ready to go out on the quads/ATVs)
4. I don't know is NOT an answer.
5. I would never have talked to my mother like that.
6. I'm not running a taxi service
7. If everyone jumped off a cliff would you do it too?
8. Someday your face will freeze like that.
9. It hurts me more than it hurts you.
10. Bob, Sue, Joe, Fido...whatever your name is...

Oh yeah, my Mum used all of those! (Although it was always the Harbour Bridge rather than a cliff... and the "whatever your name is" always ended with Fred for some reason!).

Thanks, everyone!

I'll add two more of my stand-bys:

1. What part of "no" don't you understand?

2. And the rock n' roll mom's classic - "You can't always get what you want."

I was wondering why Julian Lennon posted a picture of his mom & wished her a Happy Mother's Day. I didn't know Mother's Day is celebrated this day in Europe!
So Happy Mother's day to all the moms in Europe!

I''m confused, VA. I thought Mother's Day was on May 12th. Is it Mother's Day somewhere else in the world today?

Today we celebrated 'Mothering Sunday" in church. This is an annual event. I wonder if it is connected to the European 'Mother's day?

Quite possibly - The origins of Mother's Day in Europe was that on the middle Sunday in lent, girls who were working in service (maids) were allowed a half holiday to go home to visit their mothers on that day. They usually baled a cake to bring with them for their mothers , hence the gift giving tradition.
GL, Hope you too had a Happy Mothering Sunday!

And thanks for the wishes from everyone!
