Time for The Very Best of Timothy B. Schmit Survivor, where we vote off Tim's songs that we determined by poll to be his "very best" until we get to the last one standing!

If you're new, for a basic overview of the game, see this post: Survivor Overview (https://eaglesonlinecentral.com/forum/showpost.php?p=6551&postcount=7)

I'm going to list the songs here. Vote for the song that you feel should be eliminated from the list. The song that gets the most votes will be taken off of the list (or, in the language of Survivor, "Voted off of the island.") Each round, one more song will get axed, until there's only one left. Remember: you're voting for the song you want taken off, not the song you want to stay.

Note: Do not criticize how/why other people vote. Their reasons are their own and they are free to vote however they like. Also, never attack a fellow poster. You can disagree about a certain song without making it personal. Sometimes these games can get heated, but remember.. it's still just a game.

Each round will last 48 hours after posting to give people a chance to vote who don't post every day. That means that the first round will be over at 8:00 Eastern time the day after tomorrow. Any votes cast on or after 8:00 Eastern the second day will not be counted. If you're going to wait 'til the last minute, be sure you leave yourself enough time to hit "submit"!

If you miss a round, don't think you can't play. It's all good!

Since there may be discussion posts, be sure to make it clear when you are casting your vote. Votes cannot be changed once you have voted, even if you make a mistake - so be sure you get it right the first time!

If you get confused about what round we are in, look at this post. I'll always update it to reflect the current round. Also feel free to post any questions if you don't understand what's going on.

If there is a tiebreaker, then ALL votes from ALL previous rounds are tallied and whoever has the most prior votes is eliminated. That’s the way it’s done on the real show, that’s the way it’s done here. If there is a complete tie with prior votes (Murphy’s Law), then I'll have a sudden-death trivia question ready. The first person who answers it correctly gets to break the tie. The odds of that happening are slim, but you never know, and it's good to be prepared.

The tie-breaker question will be asked one hour after results are in, if there is need for it. The exception is the last round. If the tie-breaker does not resolve the last round, then the tie will be allowed to stand.

============================

The game is over, and the winner is....

SECULAR PRAISE!!!

OK, I'll get things started! There's one song on this list that I admit kind of annoys me. I don't think it deserves to be alongside these other great tunes. "So in love - are we two - that we don't know what to do - so in love (two so in love) so much in love (two so in love)" - gag me!

I cast my vote for So Much in Love.

Boy's Night Out sounds like the theme song to an 80's sitcom. I've never liked it and it doesn't sound like a Timothy song to me.

I vote for Boys Night Out.

The video doesn't do it any favors, either.

(Not that we should let it influence us but... man oh man. He looks so uncomfortable in the bar scenes, doing those high fives and all!)

To be fair, though, he's adorable at 1:09, 3:46, and the end as well!

Now, now...don't let the video influence your vote. Besides, BNO is sucky enough without having to revert to the video.

And just because all of you are making fun of BNO--I've changed my avi to the animation Soda made from it--my fave part in the whole video with the eyebrow thing. Adorable!!!

No big secret to members that have been here awhile.... I've gained some appreciation for this song but not enough to keep it from getting voted on first. It's pretty enough but it just doesn't "get me" like most of his songs do.

WOW!!! Not everyone felt that way. There was some GREAT music that came out of the 80s. And personally, I didn't think the hair or clothing was that bad either at the time. It was just the style, just like the 70s had their own and the 90s had their own, etc... Timothy was doing just as everyone else was, changing with the times. Nothing wrong with that.

I have to agree with Willie here about the 80s, at least about the music. As a child of the 80s in the sense that it's the decade where I hit puberty, lol, there are MANY songs from that era that I adore. My favorite song of all time, "Gypsy", was released in 1982, and both Glenn and Don had their biggest solo hits in the 80s.

A sampling of some of my favorite albums from that era: Stevie Nicks' Belladonna, U2's The Joshua Tree, Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA, Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet, Phil Collins' No Jacket Required, Billy Joel's An Innocent Man, R.E.M.'s Document, The Police's Synchronicity, Tears for Fears' Songs from the Big Chair, and I haven't even included anything from the big stars such as Michael Jackson and Madonna.

In fact, I love 80s music. Although my favorite bands are the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, if you turn on an 80s station, I'll be singing along with 9 out of 10 songs. If you put on a 70s station, maybe 1 out of 5.

Well, to me that is Timothy trying to be a pop artist, (or someone trying to make him one) which I think was the wrong direction. I think the clothing styles were horrible, the giant shoulder pads, the bad perms, & I think the 80's were probably the worst times in music. That's my opinion, but the music just doesn't hold up the way 60's, & 70's music does. I don't even remember what I was listening to in the 80's. Maybe I'm glad I've forgotten.

I vote for Friday Night. It was on a loop on Tim's official site; I normally listen to music via headphones and I didn't the few times I visited..found this one very ordinary, a little banal actually! Doesn't do his voice justice to me!:eyebrow:

Looked at some of the comments here..really can't stand the mullet, it doesn't suit him at all..so BNO doesn't do it for me either but it's pretty close to this one.

It was not all bad.

Well I'm another one that happens to think there was some great memorable music made in the '80s, including Don Henley's The End of the Innocence album. However, I do give an edge to music of the 70's. IMO, the 70's was the best decade of all for great music. Also, my opinion, but, generally speaking, anything from the 1950's through the 80's beat the music from the last two decades.

Now, back to the game. This is going to be another gut-wrenching game for me. I think there are a few songs here that are weaker, but it's very hard for me to rank my Top 10 songs. Anyway, this round I'm going to go with one that has never done much for me, although I know a lot of folks like it ...

I cast my vote for Top of the Stairs.

Well, I hate to be picking off the songs from Playin' It Cool, but it was Tim's weakest album (IMHO)....

I cast my vote for Tell Me What You Dream.

It's not awful or anything; in fact, I like the groove of the verses. It's the chorus that I don't appreciate as well. I don't like the lyrics "tell me what you dream at night while you're sleeping" - the "while you're sleeping" is redundant. What can I say, thinks like that annoy me.

In reading this thread so far, just a reminder, we are voting for the SONG not the VIDEO (or the mullett :hilarious:). And for all you voting off Boys Night Out already because it's so "80s", I can't wait to see what you say about Was It Just The Moonlight. I know it came out in 1990, but if you want to talk about trying to be a "pop artist", that one, in my opinion, is the epitome of it. And that video is really one that's hard to get around (since we are talking about videos). Of course his hair was growing out by then, so maybe you'll all be all right with it.

I don't even remember what I was listening to in the 80's. Maybe I'm glad I've forgotten.

Now I seem to recall you remembering quite a bit about Guns N Roses when we were talking about them around the HOF induction. See, you remember some of it!! :)

Now I seem to recall you remembering quite a bit about Guns N Roses when we were talking about them around the HOF induction. See, you remember some of it!! :).

Yes, when I thought about it, I do remember what I was listening to. I was a fan of G&R, but in the late 70's & early 80's I was hanging out in the punk clubs in NYC & listening to Blondie, the Talking Heads & the Police, also some bands like The Clash & the Stone Roses. I have never been a fan of "pop", MJ, or Madonna or the "Hair Bands" of the 80's.

I do think they were trying to turn TBS into a "pop star" which is why I didn't follow his career at that time. I was very disappointed in the direction he was going. I didn't follow the other Eagles when they split up, only Don Henley when he did "The End of the Innocence" which made me take notice of him again.
When the Eagles reunited in 94', I was totally back with them. I thought they were so much better as a band than they were individually. Just MHO.

I didn't follow TBS in the 80's either; the only way I know most of these songs is from playing previous Survivor games here. It is only from being a member of this board that I bought Expando. What a pleasant surprise it was from what he had made in the past! Expando, for the most part, is Timothy opening up and showing us what kind of artist he really is. When people do things that come naturally to them, they come across as much more real and honest.

I once again cast my vote for Boy's Night Out.

I also want to speak up in defense of "Top of the Stairs." The way he has layered the backing tracks and harmonies is flawless, IMHO. I encourage everyone to give it another listen and appreciate the way he has created impeccable vocal alignment. It's completely acapella; the only instrument is his voice.

Plus, those who appreciate Tim's charms can't fault the theme of the song. ;)

I agree with Soda 150% regarding Top Of The Stairs. I seem to recall an interview where Timothy explained how he went about achieving all of the harmonies with something like 60+ layers of recording himself singing all of the parts. NOT an easy - or quick - process. The final product is a truly remarkable blend that is complex and beautiful and exhibits an awesome range that few vocalists possess.

For this round my vote goes to Don't Give Up.

Well, although I appreciate the vocal stylings of Top of the Stairs, I'm just not that crazy about the melody. Also, generally speaking, I like instruments in rock music so I wouldn't mind hearing some here. I think the lyrics are romantic, but the problem for me is that I don't find the arrangement, falsetto acapella, or tempo romantic so the song seems rather disjointed to me.

Anyway, I think that it's time for it to go, but Don't Give Up is next on my list after that. So when I'm ready to vote, I'll go for either of them if my vote will help to eliminate one of these songs.

Well, I think In Roxy's Eyes is a beautiful song. I remember when we played a Tim Survivor game earlier that there were some folks that didn't like it so well either. I'm surprised that the song isn't more popular among Tim's hardcore fans. It really showcases the purity and beauty of his voice to me and it has a lovely melody. I'm surprised to see White Boy getting votes already. I remember hearing it for the first time. I had to drive 45 mins away, the only place to actually have the CD. Then, my cell phone broke after I left the store... but when I put in the CD and heard WBFS for the first time, (well second, because I heard it live first) I was smiling so big, laughing and yelling, "I just love this guy". Well one thing for sure this game is becoming increasingly unpredicable as we get into these middle rounds. I called for a coalition because I thought In Roxy's Eyes was in danger of elimination. Now, it appears that White Boy From Sacramento is even more in danger. The reason I love WBFS so much is because it is such a different style for Tim. I love it when an artist goes out of their "comfort zone" and tries new things. And besides the clever, humorous satire - the song rocks. Anyway, as Soda said, the coalition for Was It Just the Moonlight hasn't exactly caught on fire, but there is still a chance to eliminate it. I really like the song a lot too, but one of the reasons I thought it had a good chance of elimination was because of the comments earlier in the game about Boys Night Out. Since WIJTML is a similar type song, I thought some may feel the same way about it. But, go figure! :) Anyway, this round is up for grabs right now, so I'm going to go ahead and lend my support to the coalition ...

I hated making Was It Just the Moonlight the sacrificial lamb last round because I like the song a lot. My own personal choice would have been to form a coalition around Something Sad, but I had to go with the song I thought had the best chance of getting support for the coalition. I know a lot of folks like Something Sad, but it just doesn't do much for me. I find it to be kind of bland. Well - it's not looking too good for In Roxy's Eyes this round, but there are still quite a few outstanding votes, so I'm going to hold off before voting. I guess we have to wait a bit longer to determine her fate.

I was curious so I went back and checked out the breakdown of songs in this game by album. I thought I'd go ahead and post it for those who are interested. But if you don't want to know, ignore the rest of this post. Here's how we started this game ...

Playin' It Cool - 2 songs (So Much In Love, Tell Me What You Dream)
Timothy B. - 2 songs (Boys Night Out, Don't Give Up)
Tell Me the Truth - 4 songs (Down By the River, In Roxy's Eyes, Something Sad, Was It Just the Moonlight)
Feed the Fire - 4 songs (Every Song Is You, Make You Feel My Love, The Shadow, Top of the Stairs)
Expando - 5 songs (A Good Day, Friday Night, Parachute, Secular Praise, White Boy From Sacramento)

At this point in the game, both songs from Timothy B. have been eliminated, while Playin' It Cool still has one song left, Tell Me the Truth has three songs left, Feed the Fire has three songs left, and all five songs from Expando remain in play.

No real surprises for me personally - it's fairly reflective of the way I rate these albums.

Geesh!! Finally!!!! Now I can move on!

Next song on my list will be one that others are not go to agree with me on (imagine that!). When Expando first came out, this song was pretty much right in the middle for me but over the last couple of years it's, I find myself pretty much moaning when it comes on and I skip over it and in fact, I've taken it off of my ipod. It and Ella Jean are the only 2 Expando songs not on my ipod.

I love A Good Day, too. It's country, but not twangy country. But, the problem is that I like almost all of the remaining songs. There's some good stuff here and I don't think any of the rounds are going to be easy for me. It looks like Tell Me What You Dream may go down next, and although I hate to see it go, I can only think of one or two others that I would like to see go first. The remainder of this game is going to be exciting because of the unpredictability here.

Exactly!!!

I love A Good Day, too. It's country, but not twangy country.

See-- I totally disagree with this. Every time I hear this song, I cringe at the "twang" he tries to put into some of the words. Listen to words like, "Laterrrrr on" and "at the outerrrrr edge", the way he holds the r's,, cringe worthy!!!

I do like:
"When the sun creeps in and the fog rolls out
And the trees stretch up beyond a shadow's doubt
Some make a wish and some like to pray
But everybody just wants to have a good day"

It just sounds like he's trying to hard to make it sound a bit country. JMO.

Well as I said before I definitely think A Good Day has a country sound. But when I think of 'twangy' country, I think of someone like Gary LeVox or Randy Travis, and IMO, Timothy's vocals don't come close to that kind of twang. His country drawl sounds more like Keith Urban to me.

Anyway, I'm going to stick with the song I've voted for the last few rounds. I'm really ready for it to go ...

The appeal of WBFS is its novelty value. I remember how when the album came out people raved about it; now it seems that some are tired of it or they think it's not representative of Tim's usual style. This is a generalisation but I would not like to see any of the Expando songs go yet. For me, I think it's funny & very clever. It's Tim's Life's Been Good, in a way.

A Good Day is a great feel good song which I love & I don't really know what else to say about it but I just love the feel of it. I don't analyse Tim's songs that closely but this is a particular favourite of mine.

Make You Feel My Love is a cover version & in my opinion not a particularly inspired one. I know I am the only person on this board who has heard the original version and also probably Bryan Ferry's version, but I prefer both of those, so I vote for it again.

I love Tim's version of Make You Feel My Love. I know that it isn't written by him, but I love the way he sings it.

I also don't want to see WBFS go, and that already has had votes in the previous rounds, so this round is going to be really hard for me. :worried:

Darn, I missed a round.

By golly, FP, you convinced me! Oh - you were trying to convince Dreamer? Oh well, guess I was paying attention.

The only reason I had MYFML ahead of WBFS was because of the Jackson Browne factor, but because I still consider this the muddy middle, I am very open to persuasion. I wouldn't stick around to listen to the end of either one, but because of FP's apt review of White Boy from San Francisco, I will vote for Make You Feel My Love.

Fp, you have me convinced too. The next song on my list is The Shadow. Why did he name this song TS? I always think of it as Feed the Fire! I just don't like it as well as the rest. Even though MYFML is a cover, it's so pretty.

I love WBFS, because not only is it fun, but I love that TBS stepped out of his comfort zone to do something unique to his usual style. I also love that he shared his life with us, that little bit of autobiographical humor is very endearing to me. This is probably why I love Expando so much, he really tells us some life stories through his lyrics in several of those songs.

Well thanks to the people who said I convinced them (we don't actually know if I convinced Dreamer yet). This has to be a first for me in a Tim Survivor game. I don't say much about his songs normally! Be glad the game does not feature After Hours (if we do that) because I will find it very hard to keep quiet.

I'm just a whilte boy from Sacramento
I'm not too funky, or so I'm told
I'm on the level - I'm incognito
I'm just a white boy from Sacramento

I mean who knew he could send himself up like this along with that whole 50s suburban Californian lifestyle? And when he does the 'warm & fuzzy' bit I wonder if he has 'people' reading this board.

I should say something that I don't normally say, which is that I love the Expando album & will tend to be protective of all its songs including Friday Night which is my least favourite of the Expando songs in this game.

This is probably why I love Expando so much, he really tells us some life stories through his lyrics in several of those songs.

We shall see where the round goes...

Omg...you'd better duck and run!!!:fingerwag:...I adore The Shadow.....but I totally agree with you about WBFS...whenever it comes on...I get the biggest smile on my face...it is very endearing...but then all of Expando is to me....this is gonna get ugly!!!

I wonder what he would think if he saw our little game and all it's comments?

Well gosh everyone - thanks for nothing. You haven't helped me at all and I mean that in the nicest possible way. Just joking of course, and I am taking everyone's comments into consideration. I still haven't definitely decided what to vote for this round, but I don't think I'm ready to eliminate WBFS yet. However, unlike many of you, I don't have any particular allegiance to any song just because it is on Expando. I just think it is a really good song that really shows a different side of Tim. I love Expando, but I think there are some songs in the game that are better than some of the Expando songs. I'm not even sure that my favorite song is on Expando, but it's a close call, that's for sure. I'll probably vote for either A Good Day or Make You Feel My Love this round, but I'm going to wait a while longer before deciding for sure.

I know that many of you are very torn this round as to what to vote for as there are several songs on the chopping block. There are still many votes that have not been cast yet.

If you are trying to save a song here, (it doesn't even matter which one) I strongly urge you to form an ALLIANCE with me to save whatever song you want....

If you are not MADLY in LOVE with DOWN BY THE RIVER, Please vote for it & we can save the songs that are up on the block!! This is a song that probably should have already been voted out, but has slipped by! It has no chance to win this. If you can part with this song, you can SAVE whichever song you are nuts about that already has 1 or 2 votes!! Come on.....make a move!! Don't be afraid to form an alliance! That how it is played in the real game of Survivor!

Down By The River may not have a chance or even deserve to win this but I don't believe it should of already been voted out and slipped by. The reason it is here is because people don't want to see it gone yet -no slipping by about it. It's in my top 5 and I personally think it is a great song and that Timothy does a spectacular job with the bluesy number.

Crikey, how on earth did 'Down by the river' make the list in the first place? :headscratch:
I know that I'm hardly the most observant person in the world if I've only just realised that, but there's one song on the list that I 'dislike' even more than 'Down by the river' so perhaps that has closed my mind to the existence of DBTR.
That's probably the reason that it's only collected two votes so far - it's in the middle of most people's lists, and other songs they 'dislike' more are the ones they've been voting for. Sometimes persistently.

If you don't want to get behind my alliance, then start another one!!! I am just trying to save some of the songs that already have votes here & many people are wanting to save!!

If you hesitate too long.... songs like WBFS & The Shadow, which is probably one of Tim's best & fav songs, being that he still performs it live, he must like it, or think his fans like it, will be voted OUT.

I am just trying to save some songs here. If you feel strongly to get another song voted out, then go for it. I'm not asking you all to agree with me (which I know you don't) but something's gotta go & I thought DBTR was one song that some could get behind & vote off. It was just an idea to get an alliance going!

Can't wait till next round here! OMG!! :worried::fear::sad::fear::worried:
Don't shoot me, I'm just a fan here, like you all are!!

I think some of the votes cast in previous rounds were more to "Save" another song, not for a particular dislike for that song. I know I had to vote for a song I liked to try to save another song....

Ok, now I need a stiff DRINK!

I agree with TBF on this one. Down By the River is in this game to begin with and is still in this game because a lot of the people on this board who play these games happen to think it's a very good song. I love the song for a lot of the same reasons that I love White Boy From Sacramento. Not that these two songs are anything alike, but they are both songs that are different from the types of songs Tim usually does. As I previously mentioned, I love it when an artist goes out of his comfort zone and tries different things. I happen to love Tim's sexy growl in Down By the River, and the music is very steamy too. I think it is one uber hot song, and I've said before, it's possible Tim may have had more solo success if he had tried more songs like it. Anyway, I certainly don't think it'll win the game, but I hope it lasts a few more rounds. I know I'm certainly not ready to vote it off yet.

Well there are still quite a few votes out there, so what’s going down this round – will it be Make You Feel My Love, White Boy From Sacramento, or Down By the River?

Make You Feel My Love is a cover version & in my opinion not a particularly inspired one. I know I am the only person on this board who has heard the original version and also probably Bryan Ferry's version, but I prefer both of those, so I vote for it again.

Julie while I agree with you that Make You Feel My Love should go out of these three songs, I totally disagree with you about Tim’s version of this song. If the original version of the song that you refer to here is Dylan’s version, I have heard it. I had never heard of Bryan Ferry's version, so I checked it out on YouTube. IMO, Tim's version is far superior to either of these, but to each their own as we always say. The song has been covered about a billion times, so I doubt if there is any real definitive version. Most recently, I think Adele did a great job with the song. However, I have to try to save Down By the River, so ...

I cast my vote for Make You Feel My Love.

I agree that Down By the River is a song very out of Tim's comfort zone, but obviously he is not a New Orleans jazz or blues singer. I do not think more songs like this would have made his solo career more successful, that's for sure! :eyebrow:

It's an ok song, but it does not highlight Tims' vocal strong points or have particularly great lyrics. I think the time has come for this song to GO.

First of all, I want to stress that my post isn’t about what song you voted for or how you voted, or that you changed your vote. We have repeatedly said people have the right to vote however they want, including changing their mind if they wish.

However, I find it incredible that after more than 2˝ weeks of playing this game that you are just now realizing that Down By the River was one of the songs in this game, particularly given the fact that there has been quite a bit of discussion about the song and it has even received previous votes. If what you claim is true, it is very disrespectful and inconsiderate to others playing this game that you would vote when you haven’t even taken the time to know what songs are in competition. As a moderator of the game, I guess I should now caution others to please make sure going forward that you are aware of what songs are in play before voting.

Then, you say that there was only one song on the list that you ‘dislike’ even more than ‘Down By the river’? What song was that? I assumed it was Make You Feel My Love since every vote that you had cast in the game was for that song. But then, when you had the opportunity to eliminate the song, you changed your vote. Yes, you do have the right to change your vote, but your post is just disingenuous.

Here you claim, you will only vote for ‘Down by the river’ if someone else breaks the tie first. Then, in the end, you cast the tie-breaking vote. As a fellow player, I find your deception here to be insulting, particularly coming from someone who is always so quick to pass judgment on others in these games.

Dreamer , I feel I should step in here because I feel you are being much too harsh... I am the one who encouraged an alliance to take down "Down By the River" & I encouraged UK to break the tie here being that UK didn't even think this song should be in the running!!!
I encouraged an alliance to save a few other songs that had 1 or 2 votes. The alliance is a big part of Survivor!
I'm sorry that you are not happy that my little alliance worked & DBTR got the boot, but these things happen.

I don't feel there was any deception going on here! It was all out in the open...... Just because someone votes for a song 2 or 3 times in the game, doesn't mean they have to continue to vote for that song & Nobody is OBLIGATED to continue to vote for a song that they have voted for in the past or until it is voted off...
Sorry but that's the game!
The idea here, was to try to convince people to vote a certain way & everyone has a right to vote however they please.
I think you are taking this game way too seriously....
Please, you need to let things go. It happened the way it happened!

Wow, I remember when these Survivor games used to be fun. :-(

You got that right!!!!

I personally find no fault with alliances and quite honestly, could care less which song gets voted off throughout the GAME, because it is only a game and rather everyone else likes my same songs or not, means absolutely NOTHING to me because I will listen to whatever song I want, when I want to.

BUT- what I have found the last few games we played is that there seems to be a few players (and I truly believe we all know who I am talking about) that continuously want to make waves and criticize what others might say or do. Those same individuals seem to think they know it all and that everyone should agree with them. It's not always what is said, but the tone and how it is said. And that last part doesn't happen only in the Survivor games, but I see that happening all over this board. NOW THAT IRKS ME!!!!!

I love this board and I have made some very good friends over the years while here so therefore, I feel I have the right to state my opinion here. What a shame that I had to make this statement.

I will stick with the next song that is on my list...

I vote for A Good Day.

Oh no, my mistake, Why do I not remember him doing this song at the show?:sad: Sorry...Anyway, I stand by the vote!

What is the Jackson Browne factor?

Oops, sorry, I'm thinking of Let It Be Me! Oh well...

I am having such a hard time!!! I agree with Sally Gee in that I hate to see any song I saw him do live get voted off...don't know why that is really...that being said...I really hate the thought of Make You Feel My Love getting voted off...I know he didn't write it...but of all the songs I've ever heard him sing...I don't think there is any he does more beautifully than this...I go all gooey inside when I hear him sing it!!...if I ever heard him do this one live I would definitely:faint:

Please save "Make You Feel My Love"

It looks like A Good Day needs saving, not WBFS, which only has one vote!

MYFML is beautifully sung. However, when I hear this song, I associate it with the movie Hope Floats and Garth Brooks. So no matter how lovely TBS sounds, to me, this song isn't him. Yes, I know its a Dylan song... but still, I do not connect this song with TBS, so it's hard for me to want to keep it.

TS has one vote and is probably my next least favorite to go. After that, oy! I love all the others in such a unique and personal way. Some speak to me better than others depending on my mood.

I'm sad to see so many votes for AGD, because it's such a happy and upbeat song. I love the simplistic and enjoyable energy that goes into the song.

No vote yet, seems people are all over the place... not sure what to do, but I certainly am not ready for AGD to be gone yet...

I realy think it's a beautiful song, and Timothy does an awesome job, but to save A Good Day and White Boy,
I vote for Make You Feel My Love:sad:

Time to shift gears here, I see. Obviously WBFS isn't going anywhere anytime soon so I cast my vote this round for A Good Day.

I could not even FIND Garth Brooks version of MYFML because there are hundreds of wanna be's on there singing the song using Garth's name to try to get hits on their You Tube singing. I don't even remember that movie 'Hope Floats" but I think I did see it. Don't remember Garth singing it in the movie, but if TBS wants to sing it, then I can associate it with him.

Topkat, I think it's probably listed under Trisha Yearwood, if I recall correctly. The movie had Harry Conick Jr and Sandra Bullock in it... for a long time, I thought it was Harry singing... not because of the voice, just again, because of the movie association.

The time has come to vote, I vote for Make You Feel My Love!

If anyone out there is a huge fan of A Good Day, please try to save it's in danger! WBFS only has one vote and doesn't appear to be going anywhere.

Save A GOOD DAY!

Vote OFF Make You Feel My Love.

Count me among those who love "A Good Day"! Yeah, it's got a country flavor which some aren't a fan of, but that flavor communicates laid-back fun. It's also got a great tune, terrific harmonies, and makes me smile every time I hear it.... especially the chorus. "When the sun creeps in and the fog rolls out, and the trees stretch up beyond a shadow's doubt" - what clever and original lyrics to conjure up his visual! "We can learn the secrets of the universe and get wet while we try" - again, an original take on expressing emotion. I appreciate that kind of creativity.

Plus, like I said before, Timothy didn't write MYFML and it's been covered by a gazillion people until it's absolutely ubiquitous. Let's prioritize Tim's original music.

I cast my vote for Make You Feel My Love.

Very well put, Soda. I agree that A Good Day should get by for at least one more round. I also love those lyrics you quoted. I normally don't care whether a song is a cover or not and the only time I take it into consideration is when I think all other things are equal. So, in this case, I'm also going with the song that Tim penned himself ...

I cast my vote for Make You Feel My Love.

The next song to be eliminated from The Best of Timothy B. Schmit Survivor is Make You Feel My Love. “Make You Feel My Love”, I'm afraid we actually have made our mind up. The tribe has spoken and it's time for you to go. Please leave the island immediately. The rest of the songs may return to camp.

It's finally time for me to vote for the cutesy novelty song, now that some more of my faves are in danger!

I cast my vote for White Boy from Sacramento.

It's funny and all, but not as high quality as the rest of the songs that are left, IMHO.

I agree, I also was not wowed by hearing it live!

Now, I would like to vote for this, however, I can not... just yet. I have to see if a favorite is in danger. :fear: I may have to see if WBFS is going to go head to head with AGD. If so, I'll have to do what must be done and vote off a beloved favorite to save another... so unfair.

While I do enjoy WBFS, like Soda said, against the remaining songs, it may be time for it to go.

I love Every Song is You! Even though TBS didn't write it, he "owns" it. He made it his! Kinda like the Eagles "own" TIE. They just connect so well with it. (Yes, I know Glenn co-wrote it - even if it was just a line or two) I don't know why I'm surprised it has a vote already. I mean, we all have such different taste, that is what makes all these games so fun. Trying to "see" the other side of the coin and why people like or dislike a song.
