It wasn't I but my husband that was reminded yesterday of an Eagle.

He told me last night, "your Steeler was interviewed on the radio today", making motion with his hands around his face like long hair. I asked if he meant Troy Polamalu. He said "yeah, his voice sounds just like your Eagle", making the same hand motion. :hilarious::hilarious: Love how they're MY Steeler & MY Eagle. He was obviously talking about Troy being as soft spoken as Timothy.

Ive always been a dreamer

Good question, PM. I do think that a lot of the baby boomers that were around in the 70's do associate the song with the band. But, I wonder how many folks under 40 would know (Border members excluded, of course)?

I think they would know it. They just wouldn't necessarily associate it with the Eagles. I have a Brewer's Dictionary of Modern Phrase & Fables which state the phrase was 'coined in 1976' but doesn't give its actual origin.

Not sure this belongs here, but I'll share it anyway. I had a doctor's appointment for a routine physical on Monday and I wore my After Hours tee shirt that has Glenn's name across the front. I noticed the doctor staring at me, which I thought was very odd to say the least. Then he said "Is that the Glenn Frey in the Eagles?" I said "Oh - it sure is. I'm very impressed that you know him. I guess I picked a very good doctor." He replied slyly "Oh - is that what it means, I thought it just meant that I'm old!" At that point, I didn't know whether to hug him or hit him.

I've just arrived home and in the taxi from the station, Tears for Fears' 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World' was playing on the radio. It reminded me of the first time I went to the States, met Jess, and we saw Don at Downstream Casino Resort. That was my first time ever seeing Don live and it was absolutely magical. It was an outdoor show, the sky was vast and beautiful, and I had to pinch myself several times to make sure it was real! He covered this song and sounded absolutely gorgeous. It's something I'll never forget.

I have always loved that song...I would love to hear Don sing it
these guys have given us so many magical moments haven't they?!

I love that there is a thread on this, because I thought it was just me who notices these things.

Last Friday on the bus to work, I passed by a dentist's office. Didn't catch the first name, but the last name was Felder. And on the same trip, right outside the World Financial Center, where I work, was a van with a big eagle on it. Eagle Bird Control Inc. Apparently they "relocate" birds. Who knew there was a business in bird relocation? And what relocating pigeons in NYC has to do with eagles, I'm still not sure :)

Last night, while shopping, I had on one of my After Hours t-shirts. A couple at the grocery store stopped me and said they just loved Glenn Frey and the Eagles and really liked After Hours. Of course, I had forgotten what shirt I had on and could not even imagine why these people stopped me to say this! One of them looked at my shirt and then I realized...

I mentioned going to the After Hours concerts and they were dismayed to find he'd played here in DC and they hadn't known. I told them that WBIG had interviewed him and WASH had given away tickets, but they said that when they do listen to the radio, they listen to 'the garbage' their kids listen to or country. They were even more upset to hear the Eagles were coming in July, tickets already on sale, and 'good' seats already sold out. They hadn't known about the documentary, either. They asked how I knew all these things and I merely said I visited a few fansites now and then, and the Eagles website itself. They said they don't 'do' social media. I said it's how you find out what's going on!

I work at a mortgage company and have to process a lot of loans per day. A good portion of the addresses are things such as-

Nation Eagles Lane
Eagles Landing
Rosewood Drive (Rosewood Bitters being Joe's song on The Confessor album)
Strike Eagle Drive
Eagle Flight Circle
Eagle Rd
American Eagle Blvd.

I'd been writing these addresses down for my own amusement.

Also I did a loan for a guy the other day whose name was Joseph Welsh. I about fell out of my chair when I saw that. I've also seen a few Henleys, Schmidts and Freys come past me as well.

Also, I listen to a lot of podcasts while working and the shows I mostly listen to use either The Eagles music, The James Gang or stuff by Joe for their bumper music (the music that is played when they cut to or come back from a commercial.)

One show I adore (The Don Geronimo Show), Don had watched 'The History of The Eagles' when it was still on Showtime and it seemed that he could not stop talking about how much he loved it. He also said at one point "Isn't Joe Walsh the most likeable musician of all time?" You can bet I loved hearing that.

Today I was at work and it was about 3 PM. I work in a little museum, I usually welcome visitors and tell them something about the Roman graves of the 2nd century A.D. that the archeologists found near Turin some years ago.

Suddenly two people - a man and a woman - came in and ... oh, it was amazing! The man really looked like Timothy B. *-* At that moment I was totally speechless and couldn't take my eyes off him! He also had the same smile and eyes - only the hair was different, a bit shorter than Timothy's. Then he asked me some information about the graves, so I realized he wasn't Timothy at all because he spoke Italian.

I tried to keep calm and answer his questions ... but it was a very shocking meeting and it obviously reminded me of Timothy and our boys ;)

This is even more pathetic. There was a KFC ad on TV last night & the line 'here's to you' was used.

I was out with a friend this evening and we decided to go for a walk on a hill overlooking the city after our meal as the weather was so beautiful. There was a marquee in the garden of one of the big houses and a band was playing Route 66! Of course, it reminded me of Glenn.

I was watching Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and one of the characters urged another to "Take it easy." Good to know this idiom still gets used hundreds of years in the future. ;)

OMG, Come Rain or Come Shine is playing on the TV right now (not Don's version.) It's an advert for Land Rover!

we go to a contemporary church with a band.

Last night, the keyboard player had a "Hotel California" shirt.

How cool is that!

I have to set up this scene/discussion for you.

We were expecting my hubby's best friend from high school Friday night, from out of town and was staying here this weekend. 15 minutes after he showed up, he and hubby had gone outside to the deck and there was a knock on the door. I opened it to find a very close friend of ours we haven't seen for 13 years. He had some major alcohol problems and we had helped and helped and helped, bailing him out of jail, putting him up in our home after being thrown out by his wife and eventually helping him get into his own apartment and then he just kind of disappeared. We heard of him off and on over the years and he still was battling, etc... So anyways, he showed up here Friday night so we had another weekend guest.

Saturday, we were all out in the garage talking and he was going through our vinyl collection and we were talking music. He asked if I was still an Eagles fan. DUH!! I told him of course and he says he was sorry when he heard Don Henley died and thought of me. I proceeded to tell him that Don Henley is, indeed, still alive and ready to start touring again, etc... He proceeded to argue that he was dead. I was about ready to slap him. :hilarious: Hubby finally told him he just better shut up and "DO NOT argue about the Eagles, or music with her. You'll never win!!" My hubby is a very smart man.

A conversation about a half hour later started with him asking, "Do you like The Cars?" :hilarious: Ummm.... just a bit. Told me he had all the Cars albums. I had to correct him on that one also. Pulled out the album Move Like This from 2 years ago and a few picture disc. He was impressed.

I may not know anywhere close to everything but I do know my music pretty well. Don't tangle with me on something I'm that passionate about.

A part of that made me feel a little sick... but I'm glad you set him right! I would NEVER argue with you about music, Willie! ;) It's pretty cool that he turned up to see you after so long. And you're right - Larry is a wise man.

Last night on Jay Leno, they did "Meal or No-Meal" where an audience member can win a dinner at a local restaurant....Well, One lucky member of the audience won dinner ,(for 4 or 2, not sure) at none other than , DAN TANNERS..in Hollywood, where our guys used to hang out before going to the Troubador... Well, did that ever remind me of the EAGLES!!! How SWEET for them!

Great picture VA!
Yesterday I looked out the window when we approached the train station of Eindhoven and I saw a truck with Poco on it.
Immediately I thought about Randy and Timothy, too bad I couldn’t take a photo of that truck…

Hubby just got a Joe Bonamassa live at the Beacon Theatre Blu Ray. It lists all guitars used, one of which is a Gibson Don Felder Hotel California edition.
