Why thank you Cathy! And thanks to everybody else for the comments on my picture. I really DO appreciate them and every one of you.

Of course I will take as many pics as possible next week at the 'Viagra Falls' (as my 7 year old son calls it). I've even bought a new camera in honour of the occasion!

okay, so here are a few more pictures of the big family to-do (Called Sarah's Picnic in case I forgot to mention that part)

I ASKED Jenni and Joe to help me make signs... however, I forgot the rule about being VERY specific in instructions.. and I told Joe I needed Lemonade and Water... meaning SIGNS for lemonade and water.... and .. well.. you can see the results... I WAS well hydrated that day...

I thought I would share a couple of photos from my Toronto trip. The second morning I was there, news broke that the Canadian Opposition Leader, Jack Layton, had died of cancer at the age of 61. I had not heard of him and had no idea how significant his passing was especially in his native Toronto. He was on the 'left', just as I am. When I returned to Toronto I went to Nathan Phillips Square where he was lying in state & looked at all the chalk messages.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/ozeagle/Miscellaneous/DSCN0919.jpg

I felt inspired enough to leave my own message:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/ozeagle/Miscellaneous/DSCN0921.jpg

Something like this would never happen in Australia, where cheap & nasty partisanship (on both sides) triumphs over all & no political figure could ever hope to bring us together in the way Mr Layton apparently did for Canada. Perhaps it won't last but I was impressed nonetheless.

I just finished this gourd and I really like it. There's a man at the Farmers Market who says he wants it, I showed it to him when I was working on it. He's bought three other of my high end gourds and several pieces of Jon's. He says they're for his mother, but how many gourds does one person need? seriously? Jon and I think he's reselling them. Im not sure how I feel about this. I mean he IS paying for them and what he does after that isnt my business, but I'd like to have the credit for them and know whats happening to them. Im not sure I'll sell this one just yet.

Wow. That is beautiful. Do you draw those designs or do you burn them into the wood? Must be time consuming but so worth the effort.
I'd ask the guy outright if he was reselling them. If so, maybe you could work a consignment deal that would be more beneficial to you.

That's gorgeous Rhonda. how long would it take you to make ne like this.

I know it kinda isn't your business if this guy is reselling the gourds, but if he was making a big profit off it I wouldn't see it as being exactly fair on you either. I'd speak to him. Of course it IS entirely possible that his Mum DOES collect them!

Good luck!

Beautiful work, Rhonda. I'd have a chat to the guy, too. There's nothing wrong with him re-selling them, but if he's doing that then maybe you could have little cards to go with them that talk about the artist...??

And if he IS collecting them for his Mum, then she might like to know more about you too!

Thanks everyone :) It is time consuming, but art is! It's an act of love *G* This one took me a LONG time just to figure out what to do with it. I had the gourd sitting on the table for about 3 months before I finally figured out the design I wanted on it.

HH- I draw the design on with pencil then burn it on. This one was painful *G* because the feathers had so much detail (and I have arthritis in my thumbs so I had to keep stopping and resting my hands *G*)

I think you're all right and I'll confront him next time I see him. Maybe I can do it kind of sideways... let him know that if there WAS someone out there who wanted to sell them for me, I'd be more then happy to make a deal! *G* but I wont see him till the 24th. Im still not sure I'll sell this one. We'll see.

We're heading to the cabin this weekend. My cousin Rachel from Chicago is in town and really wants to go so we'll go for a few days. Cliff and Jenni are in Southern Oregon visiting Cliff's Mom. She just had Heart Surgery, getting some kind of defibrillator thingie installed in her heart. The surgery went well and I got a txt from her this morning so she must be feeling okay! The weather is iffy so Im bringing my kindle and Ipod and a huge batch of Italian Wedding Soup *G* I love being up there when the only thing to do is snuggle in front of the fire, read a great book and watch the rain, but Sarah, not so much *G* fortunately her cousin Jess will be there too so they can play. We'll be back Sunday! Have a great weekend everyone!

HH - No problems *G* he didnt show up last week and this Friday is the last day for the Banks Farmers Market. If he doesnt show, his loss.. but it may be anyway, I just talked to my Mom and she and I are planning a trip to the coast to see a few galleries there and show them my work! See, THIS was my plan all along! (method to my madness!) I get enough high end stuff built up to get into a gallery out on the coast, maybe Newport or Bandon, one of those beautiful coastal towns, then I'd have to go back every few months to check my stock!! *G* The $$$ isnt so important as long as it covers the cost of the trip *G* and when I get really BIG in the art world, I'll get some galleries in Mexico, Hawaii, San Diego (why San Diego, Rhonda?? Hmm... gee.. I wonder why.. *G*)
Sorry about the slow load on the images. My server is really slow lately! Not sure why, but I may have to poke it with a stick soon.

this is Bugs2 - Im really bad at naming my art work. My friend Kat names her stuff things like "Circle of warriors" and "Singing women" I stay basic... Bugs2 cuz this is my 2nd bug design...

Jdub, your pictures are beautiful!

Many of you know of my newfound love for the other kind of eagles. Recently I bought a new camera and took it on our trips to Monroe Lake in Indiana and to the World Bird Sanctuary in St. Louis. Some of you have already seen these on facebook.

We took a trail that led us to a 175 year old oak tree.

At one point the trail opened up into a clearing. It was so beautiful it looked like a painting.

Thanks GA. I did not want to invest in an SLR camera and have to buy interchangeable lenses, so I opted for a point and shoot with a zoom lens. Mine is a Sony Cyber-Shot with a 30X optical zoom.

LOL EK!

Yes, jdfan and Pm, your photos are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing them with us!

Pm, your photo of the Great Horned Owl reminds me of one that showed up in our back yard a few years ago. One day I noticed it sitting in the edge of our back yard. The next day it had moved closer to the house. The next day it was sitting on the wing wall of our house! That was kind of spooky, that it kept moving closer to the house! We even fed it some pieces of bacon. Evidently it was sick or it would never have come so close to people. The next day it was dead out in the middle of the yard. Poor thing. I have a picture somewhere. I'll try to find it.

Love your Mac, Austin. My laptop blew up on me (actually it just fried) a few weeks back and I debated on getting a new one. Instead I just brought my Mom's home with me which we had just bought about a month before she passed away so it is practically new anyways. Problem is, I was using Carbonite to back up everything on the old one and now I'm trying to restore to this one, what a freakin' nightmare!!! It's been stuck at 22% for 2 days now and I'm getting no where. The files it has backed up look like they're here but when I click on them, they are showing empty. My pictures scare me but the thing I'm worried most about is my itunes. When I downloaded itunes onto here yesterday, it gave me the option to look for files on the computer and I was able to get about 2000 songs back but they are all jumbled and no where close to complete discographies for the groups I had those loaded on my other one. I'm beside myself on how I'm going to get them back. Googled Carbonite (which I also did before I signed up for and the reviews were really good then) yesterday and now I'm really scared. Just in the last few months, there seems to be many problems with restoring your stuff. :help:

But on a HAPPY note.....Austin, I have a new toy that's bigger than yours!!! :hilarious: I bought a new truck this weekend. Decided to let Katie take my other SUV with her when she moves next weekend. Told her will let her use it for a year or so, till she can get her something else. It's gotten to the point that every time I wanted to go somewhere, I had to check with her or hubby so that I didn't taken a vehicle if they were going to need them. So I decided to go shopping. Loving it so far. Test drove another Mustang (I've had several), a sporty little BMW and a couple smaller SUVs but in the long run, practicality won out and I opted for a super roomy Ford Explorer. Loving it so far.

Ruhroh Willie! Carbonite is a very legit company but it does sound like they are having troubles at the moment.

Forewarning: Backup lecture begins now! :hilarious:

I HIGHLY recommend to back up in no less than 3 places. In the cloud (ie Carbonite), on an external hard drive, and on a DVD/CD stored in a fireproof safe (for highly valuable documents/spreadsheets/photos). I'd really recommend picking up a 1TB USB external hard drive when you can. They go over USB and you can even set it up to back up itself or you can do it manually. I prefer the set it and forget it method for people that may not remember or don't have the time too and that's what I even do myself. You can get an external hard drive for around 70 bucks IIRC, and it's worth it. I have a couple of them here and they have saved me lots! Also USB thumbdrives are great for storing small files as well and for traveling.

At least you tried to backup! Most people yell at me when I tell them I have to wipe their hard drive because of a virus that I can't remove or a corrupted filesystem. They didn't back up AT ALL, and now are going to lose everything. Not my fault I say. I try to have SOME compassion but honestly it's their own fault for relying on a piece of fragile technology that can go kaput at any given moment to hold their important/precious/valuable/irreplaceable data. I work on computers here locally and also remotely and I see this all the time. I give them the same lecture I gave you, but for the people that don't back up at all I'm a little more stern! :D

I got some kind of a virus last week and since then have been backing up files like a madwoman. I have all the important stuff on an external hard drive but I'll look into this "cloud" business too - although I'm a little nervous about having all my private files hosted by a third party. Hmmm.

Good luck with the recovery mission, Willie - and love the new car!

Love your new truck Willie! I must say you are a very generous mummy! Mine bought me a (pedal) bike when I started in college! But I guess times have changed since then.

Yep, Austin, my old laptop broke down shortly after Christmas last year and luckily after doing a photography course earlier in the year I had invested in a 1TB backup device, so I lost very little which a friend was able to restore for me. But I shudder to think about all the family pics I would have lost forever if I hadn't.

Soda, in my innocence earlier I thought the 'virus' you were referring to was the sore throat and cold you complained about last week. Hope both you and the computer have recoved!

Willie!! WOW!! beautiful! Color me jealous! *G* It's a really pretty car and Im a ford girl through and through. Ive had a Ford Windstar for the past 12 years and it's given me a minimal of problems and its still going strong! Its starting to show its age and it smells like stale fries and sour milk, but it gets me from point A to point B with all my stuff and the kids et al.. (I make no ecuses I REALLY want a Ford Flex ~i need something big and just short of a semi to haul all my sales stuff around ~ and Im looking at this summer... possibly) but as long as the van runs, it's all good.

As far as the 'puter stuff goes, UGH! Im avoiding techno-crap as much as possible these days. I use my phone (android) and my puter and as long as it works, its all good. If it stops, I'll think about it again :) I can say, I have two external hard drives that hold most of my back up stuff, including 48 gigs of audio books and music et al. It's my back up :)

I'm still coughing, but getting better, I think.

As for that computer virus, though, no luck so far. I've tried all sorts of anti-virus programs and a system restore, but still it keeps returning.

Here's how the virus works: you do a search on Google, Bing, or any other search engine. Your list of results comes up as normal. However, when you click on a result, your browser is redirected to a spam page.

So, I can type in URLs directly and I'm OK, but if I try to search for anything, I just keep getting the same spam pages. :enraged::enraged::enraged:

I'm going to have to take the computer in to purge it, I think, and that SUCKS.

Like us--Larry drives 45 miles one way and I work from home. He has a little 4WD Kia Sportage but it still doesn't get good gas mileage. The sensible thing would be a small, good gas mileage car for him but with our winters, we've always had 4WDs or at least AWDs, which is what our Pacifica is that Katie is using. And the fact that we are always doing auctions and antiquing, we haul a lot of stuff! When I've had my Mustangs, we've always stored them in the winter time.

As far as filling it up, I did that the day I brought it home out of curiosity. It had about an 1/8 of a tank and it took $54.00 to fill it up. Not as bad as I figured. As long as I'm the only one driving it, I will still have that gas at Christmas time. Just tool around town and a trip to my Mom's every weekend to work on the house. But I'm sure Larry will be taking it a day or 2 (maybe tomorrow since we're expecting several inches of snow this evening). I received a text from him a bit ago that said we were going 4 wheeling tonight. :hilarious: Boys will be boys and he can't wait to play in the snow with it.

So I thought I'd post it here.

It is a pic I'd never seen before of Joe Walsh and Don Felder that is in the new Eagles book (Taking It To The Limit). I scanned it from the book directly. It's probably my favorite picture of the two to be honest because they both are playing Les Paul Bursts.

That's exactly what it is! :) It does look as if Felder is studying Joe, so I could see why someone could think that but indeed they did that all the time. That's why they were such an awesome duo. I miss that. They had a lot of musical chemistry together and really brought out the best in each other and pushed each other. That is why they are my favorite guitarists, with Joe being my hero.

I just had the absolute most amazing morning. I went to Dulles airport with a friend to see the Space Shuttle Discovery come to its final resting place at Udvar-Hazy/Smithsonian. It took two hours to get there with the morning commute and they'd closed the exit to the place. So we worried, a lot, but we went up to Dulles and got on the top floor of a parking garage where it then did a fly-by and then it went into DC, then back out for another fly-by. We couldn't see the landing, but we got to see it taxiing down the runway, right near us. An incredible sight.

Soda, rumor has it that the shuttle Enterprise that's been here at Dulles for some time now will be strapped to the back of the 747 and go to NYC on Monday. If you can believe it, my friend and I are thinking about driving up for that. I wish I could get into the place on Thursday. My newly redesigned guitar rig with my new amp! Going to be using this a lot this summer. Ausfest will be happening soon and also some other shows I will be doing with some friends.

Gorgeous pictures Koala! I love the waterfall pictures particularly. I'm glad you had such a good time in Italy.
