Those are great, IC.

And that picture of the bridge is very beautiful. I've been over the bridge several times, but apparently never at night when it was lit up like that.

Thought I'd post pics of a tour of my guitar room/den/cave/studio/hangout zone since there is another guitarist on the board now. It's a bit messy but it's getting better!

Very nice Guitar room. I'm envious of all the guitars and just the fact you have a room just for them! Most excellent.

It's nice out here but it is in the middle of nowhere (which I personally like - not that I'm antisocial but I'm definitely an introvert) and is also redneck country. So if you can get past that, it's not a bad place to be. Great for listening to music or playing music. Been lots of times I've played acoustic guitar around a fire. Any classic country song will work for these people. Everything from Johnny Cash to Dwight Yoakam!!! LOL.

I was forced into country music when I started playing because that's what all of the local musicians played - before I ever joined a band I played with a bluegrass group every Saturday sitting in a circle. I'd tolerate that music and they let me do a few 3 chord rock n' roll songs now and again (Mary Jane's Last Dance was one that got played a lot). But I have to give them most of the credit, as they got me to the point where I could play in front of others and in time and also singing harmony.

Very interesting Austin. You have mentioned before that you were an introvert so I wondered how you could play in front of people. But then again when you love something you can do anything and I know you love music and playing the guitar.
Thanks for sharing.

For me, when I pick up a guitar all of the people disappear and all of my social anxieties fade. It's like they aren't even there. I only care about playing and listening to the drummer to keep in time. It's one area I have a lot of confidence in so I'm able to be in front of people with no problem. Hope that explains it better.

Good for you, Austin. I have learned (b/c of my son) that being an introvert is not the same thing as being shy or lacking confidence or being antisocial. A great example is that an introvert has no problem speaking or performing in front of a large crowd. However, when the speech or performance is finished, the introvert will go outside to walk around alone, but an extrovert will mingle with the crowd, chatting with people. Introverts do not do small talk.

No, that's actually the stairs to the neighbor's deck! I don't think I have a picture of the treehouse. I did take a picture of the other wall, but since most of it is the opening for the door, it doesn't look like much, and it's half shade, half sun, so hard to see. She wanted windows for the extra light.

As some of you might know from this thread: https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5109, yesterday I went to Peter Gabriel concert. :partytime: Well, what can I say... Every single minute of this show was perfect. It's "Back to Front" tour in which he and his musicians celebrate the 25th anniversary of "So" album. But do not be mislead, "So" makes only a third of the whole event, with, as Gabriel himself put it, a starter, consisting of few songs played accousticly, as if during rehersal, with all the lights on, a main course, including various "greatest hits" played by the whole band with the lights down (as you can see in the photo), and, finally, a dessert, made of "So". Fabulous. As this is a "picture" thread, I won't get into more details, just post a photo of "radiant Peter", taken from some distance :)

Looking forward to your next YouTube video with you playing this new one!

Nashville is a beautiful place even when not guitar shopping! :hilarious:...friendly people, awesome live music and attractions, and many connections to make for a guitar player anyway. The food choices are great too. I have a lot of friends down here in the music scene and so I try to make it down here once a year at least.

Great place to come for a guitar player too, lots of stores and jams and what have you. Luckily they worked with me on a trade today for this guitar.

Thanks! Not on this trip but last trip we went there and to a few of the places along Broadway for live music. Awesome. The Bluebird is definitely a must on anyone's list for a first time trip to Nashville.

Bluefeather I see your pics as small thumbnails and when I enlarge them they are still too small to see but I do see them. :) Cool!

---

Thank you everyone for the comments on the guitar. It does sound great. Sounds like crunchy rock n' roll. I'm playing Labor Day Weekend at a big outdoor party for a friend and I can't wait. I traded a Les Paul of mine and so now I'm down to 2 Les Pauls which happen to be my favorites of that model. I'm slowly pairing it down to the top favorites via trading so that I don't run out of room and also makes it easier for traveling. I'm slowly starting to come to grips with "quality over quantity". Although, none of the guitars I own are bad, I'm trying to keep the best of the best.

Here's yours truly with the new guitar....Video coming soon. :)

Austin, too cool!

BF, the pics come up blank for me, but then when I click on them again, they load in a new page. It all depends on the browser used, the version of it, and the settings a person has. Before I upgraded to IE 11, I couldn't see thumbnails at all on IE, now I can if I'm patient. All that being said, it really is better if you use a site like Photobucket or Flickr and copy the IMG codes. At any rate, they were cool photos!

Dreamer, it's the lighting in the picture. As I recall, my hair was a dirty blonde, maybe a little lighter in this picture, then darker as I got older. It always turned blonde in the sun, though, and I hated the roots come Sept and Oct. So I began to color my hair when I was about 24 and I haven't seen my natural color since!

I was completely amazed by the whole story of this project and Crazy Horse! Our tour bus driver estimated it will take another 30 years to complete, but that was just his opinion. He said they get more money nowadays than they used to, plus they have better and safer equipment, so hopefully he was close to right!

A few snaps from my trip up to the Highlands, mainly of the landscape since it's my primary interest. If these are too large, someone let me know and I'll re-size.
First up is a photo of the Inner Sound from the railway line into a tiny settlement called Kyle of Lochalsh. The line clings to the loch side for about ten miles, this is just one of about a hundred decent photos you could take if you were quick enough!

http://i.imgur.com/vf2ziHV.jpg

Next up is the harbour in a town called Portree, on the Isle of Skye, an hour from the aforementioned Kyle by road. Really small, bustling place, but still very pretty.

http://i.imgur.com/SaXMmeZ.jpg

Last up for now is Inverness Castle, quite young at under 200 years old and sadly closed to the public, but its proximity with the nearby River Ness makes for a good photo!

Some more then!

Firstly this is the view across through the northern Cairngorms from the platform of Broomhill station, which serves absolutely nowhere, as you can probably see!

http://i.imgur.com/aCIEt31.jpg

Next is the few from the train near a village called Tyndrum, looking out onto the very, very northern reaches of the Trossachs National Park.

http://i.imgur.com/NhMgjak.jpg

Final one for now once again is about ten minutes further down the line than the above. Sorry for the awful composition, but I think the view's half-decent anyway.

I thought I'd share one of the photos I took during my visit to Colorado. Then I finally understood what John Denver had thought while writing "Colorado Rocky Mountain high, I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky". We've spent wonderful three days up in the Rocky Mountains. Feeling like going back there again, now!

I couldn't find what I felt was a more appropriate forum for this info so if it's misplaced, I hope the Admins will move it. A friend of mine put me in touch with a guy down in Florida a few days ago who is an outstanding photographer. After some back-and-forth messaging on Friday I asked if it would be okay to share some of his photos and he graciously said yes. The easiest way is to simply refer everyone directly to his page. All I can say is that every one of his pictures from the HOTE show in Florida last year tells a story we all love.

He's got a multitude of incredible close-up that are Eagle-icious (along with tons of photos from other shows he has covered) and I encourage everybody to check him out at www.facebook.com/entertainmentimages (http://www.facebook.com/entertainmentimages) for a real treat. Enjoy!

Thanks everyone!

HB - this was the 4th year. The first one in 2010 was a total surprise for me on my birthday. I had just lost my dog and best companion and was totally bummed out - imagine my surprise when they took me over to the cabin to "show me something" and all of my guitar gear was there and some of my old bandmates and other guitar friends were there - and LOTS of people! Really lifted my spirits for sure. And we've done them ever since, with more planning and every year it's bigger than the year before.

This year for the first time instead of just having hotdogs over a fire, we actually had BBQ catered...but I never leave the stage because of my introversion and a bit of social anxiety and I don't even take bathroom breaks! So I never ate any. I hear it was great though. I ate McDonalds before the show. LOL! I figure if I'm up on stage playing guitar, most people won't try to come over and talk talk talk - especially drunk people!

People online have a hard time believing I'm so quiet and reserved in person with strangers as online I'm quite open, extroverted, and somewhat opinionated! I feel most in my element playing guitar if I'm going to be around a crowd of people, otherwise I'm better off with people I know in small groups. Or seeing a concert, because everyone will be focused on the band and not chatting me up.

Looks like once again Ausfest was a great success. I'm delighted for you Austin. And you know, there are plenty of people with social anxieties out there who just prefer to be more outgoing via social networking than actually meeting and talking. And that's ok. I'm glad we all manage between us to be there for you in that way, and you are a great active member of our Border!

I'm just now seeing this. Sorry for just now responding.

Thank you so much for being supportive. It truly means a lot. There are some people in my past both in real life and online who have made it incredibly difficult to trust others over time and have dealt with paranoia and major trust issues in my real life as a result and unfortunately it's just what it is. I think in order to truly understand someone who suffers from anxiety, depression, OCD, autism, or anything of the like - you have to have experienced it yourself. It's easy for someone to be an outsider and to them you might have it all, but in actuality, you don't. The grass is always greener on the other side. I'm not perfect, but I also am not a bad person either and I know in my heart that I am nothing but good to my true friends and of course my family, who has been supportive of me with my disabilities since day one. Without them I'd have left this planet ages ago. It's their love and the love of my real life best friends and good online friends that keep me upright.

I'm very outspoken and opinionated and sociable online, and to some that seems as if I don't really have any trouble or that I'm extroverted, but the fact is, is that is just a front for my real social anxiety and my way of having some social interaction. If you were to meet me you'd probably wonder why I was so quiet and reserved. The few that have met me from here can probably attest to that. But online it seems nothing of the like. I'm able to put up a similar front when I'm onstage, as I'm focused only on my guitar and rocking out.

I'm learning to adjust and trust people very cautiously to avoid getting hurt at the advice of my family, friends, and counselor. And as such, I've become distant at times, even online. I've tried medication for social anxiety and it just does not work. I've also tried counseling and much the same. I hope one day for a miracle pill but I doubt that is happening. As much as I want it to go away, it won't.

I've cut back on my online social interaction some and am trying my best to break what is an addiction to online social networks and forums, but I will never leave here. I also feel like I need to find more people in real life that understand me and can visually witness what it is that I go through every day so they are less likely to misunderstand me or think that I blow it out of proportion. It's got to the point I won't leave the house unless it is a big concert where there are so many people I know they wont be looking at me or a Dr Appt.

I've become secure enough now that I know it is what it is and there is not much I can do, so I'm going to live my life by what I feel is right and not worry about the haters and make the best of it. I tend to let things get to me but I realize I'm not getting any younger and life's too short for drama and also worrying about what others think. You have one life and it can go in a flash.

Again, thank you for your kind message and I'm glad to be here. :) It's kinda like the Hotel California, you know! :hilarious:

I've had the pleasure of meeting you, Austin, and yes, for awhile there I thought you were going to stand me up!:hilarious: Seriously, it would have been a shame to be at the same show and not meet up. I'm so glad we did.

Although not nearly to the degree of your problem, I'm not much of a social butterfly, either. It doesn't come naturally for me to start a conversation with people I don't know, although I think I'm getting better at it as I get older. Unfortunately for you, Austin, the kinds of things that normally help a shy person come out of their shell is joining the work force or volunteering somewhere - things that you're not able to do due to your health.

When we met for a few minutes after the Jackson Browne show in July, I was slightly nervous, too. But I knew that I would regret it if I didn't at least say hello. After all these years together here, you seem like an old friend!

Hey Austin you are not alone. I hate going to social events, etc. Over the years I've gotten a little better, but...there is still that anxiety level that makes my whole chest and face turn red for no reason. I feel ya!

I'm exactly the same - I could talk for all eternity on forums or social media but in real life I'm really quiet and timid: I very rarely speak unless spoken to or prompted, and I can't stand sustaining a conversation with someone I don't really know or have a specific common interest with - not because I don't like them but because literally I can't force myself too. Gets really bad sometimes even when I'm with friends - sometimes I won't speak for hours then someone will say something and I won't be able to shut up, or I can be doing fine then someone says something that kinda flicks a switch in me and makes me go all quiet and reserved. Mind, just so long as I have the Eagles, my other interests, the forums I'm on and the family and friends who can bear to put up with me, I'm fine.

Austin and Cathy, I've had the pleasure of meeting you both and both are very nice, kind people.

I must admit that I, too, have a hard time meeting new people. I'm pretty shy and sometimes people take it as being stuck up or aloof. I don't want to be, I'm just scared! When I took a job as a furniture salesperson back in the 80's, being thrown out there and made to talk to strangers helped me a lot. I had to do it! I left that job after about 10 years and I still tend to hang back around new people.

Don usually wears those boots, even with suits! They are in honor of his father. He actually started out wearing his father's boots after he passed away. Don't know if these were those, but look similar! A nice gesture, I think!

My little sweetie went to see Santa Saturday. He was NOT impressed!

Sorry it's so big! My son said they kept waiting for him to smile and waited too long! I wish I could see his face where he is looking at him. I can just see it! A look he gives everyone he doesn't know! He's very sober and like, "who are you anyway?" I love that baby!
