Just read that British comedian Mel Smith has died of a heart attack, aged 60. I grew up watching Mel and Griff (his partnership with Griff Rhys-Jones.) Sad news.

I wasn't familiar with him, but 60 is way too young to die of a heart attack. My heart goes out to his loved ones.

R.I.P. Mel.

Although I am not familiar with him, I can relate to the sadness of having a favorite personality pass away. Dying at 60 is too close for comfort for me. May he RIP.

I always remembered him as the London hotel clerk in National Lampoon's European Vacation. RIP.

I too remember Not The Nine O'Clock News, and still have a vinyl of it somewhere. The "We Like Trucking" song springs to mind! Alas Smith and Jones was also a good spin off.
Very sad news.
