Just heard from VA. She's in a seat -- finally!
She originally had seats in row F but "upgraded" to Row B but in her words the view was "totally obstructed". After turning down some crappy seats that they offered her instead, she settled on her old seats in Row F.

Sounds like it was a great big hassle that she didn't need -- but she's in her seat and ready to rock!!!

8:02 -- The lights are down -- they're starting now!!!

I was so upset! Trying to impress my sister and that happens! They did not refund my money. They said they couldn't. I feel an email to end all emails coming for this. Still I was trying to sell the row f Tix for far less than I paid for them and they never sold. 5 hrs before concert, 50 seats left on stub hub and mine wouldn't sell. Thank God they didn't. I couldn't even give them away to family since they all had to work.

Still the concert was fantastic!!!!! Better than last night. Will post more when I have time!

VAisForEagleLovers
07-24-2013, 01:42 PM
I guess I should be more clear! The seat wasn't better than second row center, the show was better than Monday night.

They have these curtained 'control centers'. I don't know what they're called, but people sit at electronic panels. For Seger they were under the stage in NY. These were to the side of the stage and higher than the stage, so first three or four rows, ALL you saw were these big black curtained things.

VAisForEagleLovers

Apparently I'm going to have to do this in bits and pieces as I have time and remember things. I'll start with the end as they did their final waves... Glenn handed picks to various security people along the front to give out to people. I've never seen him do that before! Someone waved a drum stick and Don asked for it and the pen and autographed it from stage and handed it back to the security person. Then went to the drumset and got two drumsticks and handed them to the same person. I couldn't see who got them after the security dude.

To the very beginning, as we waited and after the seat fiasco, my sister says to me, "So I know who Glenn Frey is, but he's the only one I know. What are the names of the others and what do they do?" I know my mouth dropped open. She sang along nearly word for word to every song except two or three. She knows the Long Run album forward and backward (because I blasted it three or four times a day when I lived at home). Yet she was clueless about who was in the band. At the very end, she said she can see why I go to so many concerts and why I don't mind hearing the same songs over and over. The people on the other side of her said they could understand it as well, they were completely blown away. My sister said she enjoyed it a lot more than she'd thought she would.

My nephews had considered taking the extra tickets, but one wasn't feeling good. They're into hiphop and weren't terribly excited about 'seeing old dudes who sing country and rock.' They watched some YouTube videos while we were gone and the youngest (13) kept texting us wanting to know if they were singing certain songs. They both said, "Hey, these guys are actually pretty good." At least I've now found a home for all the Eagles tshirts that I get at all the VIP events that are still in the original plastic, they want the shirts. I feel this is a very positive thing in their musical development!!!

The music and vocals were just as good, but the guys were more loose and interacted with the audience more, or so it felt. Sitting in the front, it's hard to pick up on the rest of crowd. More jokes (Plaintiff was back), more dialogue, more smiles. Joe talked about the James Gang playing at the old Syria Mosque. Glenn mentioned opening for a group (Procol Harum?? I can't remember which group...) in Pittsburgh in 1973. He made references to Western PA as well as Pittsburgh a couple of times. The downside was that it felt a lot different not to get any good eye contact or smiles from the guys. My sister asked why we didn't get seats in the second row and I almost smacked her!

The folks at Guest Services had said to call Live Nation (the promotors), but of course their customer service number is TicketMaster. Since the ticket was bought through Official Platinum, that meant I had to call TicketExchange. They will escalate it up through managment and someone will contact me. She asked me what the obstruction was and I don't have a clue what it is. I tried to describe it and now I think the woman thinks I'm a lunatic. It's the big black thing that is hiding Stueart's feet. Our seats were farther down and directly in front of the thing.

ok now how is a short perosn like me or dreamer suspposta see over that. If your ticket didnt say "ubstructed view" they most certainly should give you back your money. Just keep saying my view was ubstructed by a piece of stage equipment and she should get the idea. I say again if they dont say ubstructed view then you should get your money back. In baseball they sell ubstructed view seats all they time but they tell you that they are.
good luck.

I would except he's no longer CEO of Ticketmaster. Don't worry, if I don't get my money back I'll keep screaming. There's no excuse for this. For all I know, it was the venue at fault for giving incorrect dimensions or something, but I'll find out who and someone will own up to the mistake and fix it. I saw similar seats for the Nashville show tonight and was afraid to buy them for fear the same thing would happen.

Not only didn't it say 'obstructed view', it was a ticket they charged extra for (Official Platinum). I honestly don't remember what I paid for it, but I think it was a few dollars short of $400. Each. And, it was totally obstructed, like facing a wall, and not partially obstructed.

VA-

They had the same thing in Philly. I looked over at all these empty prime location seats and wondered for a second, until I saw that huge obstruction. So I don't think it was a venue issue.

I would be so mad as well.

well, if anyone can get a refund or partial refund..it would be you.
I'm thinking that the stage managment people didint tell the venue that there would be obstructed views and the venue sold them thinking they were primo and they werent so.......you could say that at other venues, they didnt sell these seats (like in philly) since they were like looking at a brick wall.

Maybe I'm biased as I was just happy being back in the 'Burgh! My all time favorite band in my favorite city, in the home of my Penguins, and my sister enjoying the concert with me. Of course, being on the side, the sound is better than on the floor in the front, too. But they did seem more relaxed and more into it.

I forgot to mention, the back and forth guitar licks towards the end of HC was absolutely great. I've seen Steuart and Joe smile and congratulate each other before when the song was over, but last night they were both grinning from ear to ear and looked very happy as they congratulated each other. (The audio on the video posted above doesn't do it justice at all, though I only listened to a few seconds near the end...the incredible part)

One thing I missed by not being in the front is seeing Joe's fingers on the guitar. Looking up at a screen to see the detail doesn't cut it.

Again, in the second one they talk about Henley alternating between piano & drums. I don't get this at all. Why such confusion? They mean percussion. Are there no subeditors any more?

After a brief intermission, Frey opened the second set by saying “I don’t know about you, but I need to move my body a bit,”

He said that in the Philly video of HT I watched. No further comment.

Just an update on my progress of getting some satisfaction out of TicketExchange on the seat fiasco where my row B seat had a totally obstructed view. NO SATISFACTION!!

I had called and said my story and was told someone in management would get back with me in a few days. Nothing. Called back and found there was no record of my earlier call. This lady again took all the information and then promised someone would call soon (then the call was disconnected, but to be fair, it could have been the horrid VOIP phone system at the office). Have not heard from anyone.

Unfortunately, the issue is between LiveNation and TicketExchange (Official Platinum), but there is no contact information for either of them on their websites, they list Ticketmaster phone number and email ID as their contact info. Ticketmaster can't help with the issue.

My other concern is buying Official Platinum seats at another venue. How do I know this won't happen again?

Apparently they think that if they make this difficult enough I'll give up. Obviously, they don't know me. They are only fueling the fire.

That's cool, WalshFan, thanks. And some that I wanted to go back and look at have been taken down by Warner/Chappell  Only a matter of time until they're all gone...

No one at TicketExchange has gotten back to me yet. I will try to call one more time tomorrow before I start escalating. The first person I talked to took down my home number (that's now disconnected) and thinking back, when I gave my cell phone number, I'm not completely positive she did anything with it. So, we will see...

TicketExchange says the problem lays with the promoter, which isn't LiveNation, they are the presenters. Seriously. She said she'd tell me who the promoter was, then when the page loaded gave me a name of a person and said that he was no longer the contact person. I asked, she wouldn't give me the name of the promoter, which to me means the Eagles have their own 'company' doing it. She said they are working it out, that it takes some time, but that it will be worked out. I just need to be patient.

I don't think so. Patient = one week, not one month.

You know, the amount you paid is a drop in the bucket to these guys. I don't get why they're giving you such a hard time. It's not as if you do this repeatedly and are trying to put something over on them. They should at least have the courage to talk to you directly about it and refuse you a refund to your face rather than hiding from you and hoping you'll eventually go away if they put you off enough times.

I agree, Soda. And VK - If you haven't already done so, I think I would have to remind them of your dedication. I'm confident that they will eventually work it out and do the right thing, but, again, they shouldn't make it so difficult!

Most of my dedication is something they don't see (Ticketmaster) since I usually get VIPNation tickets. I will call again soon and remind them how much I spend in tickets and that maybe they might want to think about funding me the money THEY owe me. The view was obstructed and by law, the ticket has to say that and it didn't. If they can get their money back from the venue or promoter then they can do that, but I didn't buy a ticket from the Eagles or from Consol Energy Center or even LiveNation, I bought it from TicketExchange.

I AM NOT HAPPY.

I sent an email on the 13th and was told she was turning it over to a supervisor and someone would get with me soon. NOT. I filed a dispute with Discover today. We'll see what happens next.

Don' blame you VA. how frustrating. I hope they refund you soon (think of it as funds for another ticket for a future show!!)

My goodness VA! You are definitely getting the runaround! I can't believe they are giving you such a hard time with this! Hang with it!

So someone from TicketExchange finally called me today. Offered me a partial refund, which like an idiot I accepted. They took it down to the face value of the crappy ticket I was given in exchange. I let him know that the exact same thing happened in Indianapolis and he asked it I was involved in that and I was pretty blunt that I would never ever buy another seat in that same location ever.

He apologized, and when I mentioned the dispute with Discover, he said that he knew about it. So, it took a dispute to get their attention.

VA - It's too bad it took all of that for them to get a response from them, but at least you finally got some results.

I've never done a credit card dispute either VA! It's nice to know that Discover had your back. Frustrating though that it took the credit card's involvement to get a response from TicketExchange. I'm also glad that you FINALLY got some results VA!

I have no idea why Pittsburgh Music Magazine pushed this out today, but they did. Captioned "Two legends. One shot."

Hi VK. Is the obstruction you photographed a regular part of the stage equipment and normally in the same position? I have a ticket for the front on that side in Columbus and hope I don't have the same experience.

VAisForEagleLovers
12-12-2013, 01:07 PM
Yes, it is a regular part of the tour. I made sure to check out the situation at other arenas since then. Some have the side seats higher up and it isn't a problem. Some they didn't sell the seats that would be a problem. In Pittsburgh, the left half of the section (when facing the stage) had no issues, only the right half (maybe not even half, but six or so seats), and only the first four or five rows.

Thanks VK! That cleared it up for me. I shouldn't be in the danger zone.
