I need to buy a blu-ray player so I can play my HOTE DVDs...don't know what kind to buy...or what features are important?...or are they pretty much all the same?....

I don't know much about it, I'm afraid, but I'm happy with the one I have which is a Samsung. It can play Blu-Rays and regular DVDs, and it can also be used to stream Netflix.

Sodas one sounds ideal. We bought a very good Samsung in February. Unfortunately it only plays region 2 DVDs so when my box set arrived it would not play them. I had to go and order a European friendly set! In future I would buy a region free one, but I doubt that's a consideration in the US.

Sony or Samsung. I had a Toshiba go bad.

We use a Samsung TV in the main room, so we paired it up with a Samsung Bluray. Now, one remote controls the other and also if you shut the bluray player off it automatically switches the channel/input back to whatever you had on before.

If you don't have a Samsung TV or want another option, Sony is a great brand and also has internet connectivity.

I have a Blu-ray player that plays all kinds of dvds, Blu-ray dvds, and it's great. Mine is a Phillips!!! Just one problem though, it's not an all regions dvd player. Sucks. LOL.

I have a Sony one that does wifi, so I can stream things from the internet. I bought it because I watched Celebration Day on my sister's, figured out how to use it and decided to buy one exactly the same so that I didn't have to figure it all out again.

I have a Sony and it was pretty easy. One HDMI cable. There was only one 'out' in the back and it plugs into one of the HDMI ports on the back of the TV.

Sometimes you need to buy a cable separately. Of course your retailer should advise if this is necessary. But if possible you've been left short
