Like with most of the others, my favorite era is the current one! I know there are a few who don't like the gray/white beard, but I have always been partial to white or nearly white hair and beards. Not that I ever want to see white hair on me, mind you... Anyway, I like his beard.

I like him now also my husband is 16 year older then me and has a goatee also but not grey he uses just for men lol to color but if he did not he would be grey in his hair and his goatee so I like older men lol I love Don the way he looks now

1973-1977, basically whenever he had the beard although I know he shaved it a few times in those years but those don't count. ;)

He is handsome now though, too.

If I was forced to pick, I would probably choose '70s Don... but it's such a difficult question. I love his current look, and I obviously have a soft spot for HFO because that's where I was introduced to Don and the Eagles properly. I think he is at premium '90s hotness in the Travis Tritt video.

But, overall, '70s probably wins. Just.

There was this ever so brief period of time that Don was clean shaven and had long curls. This isn't the best photo but it is from my favorite Don era.

For more than a few days, I have been trying to decide which era is my favorite era.

He has had a lot of different looks over the years and lets face it the guy is just the total package, talented, smart & HSG! - no matter what.

But the 70's fro/facial hair look to me just ever so slightly beats out the HFO era.

I am getting used to the current look- and it is starting to grow on me. I just sort of got back in touch with the Eagles this year so it may also be a matter of realizing that he is now older like the rest of us!

But I have noticed in photos, he appears to have really good skin and has aged IMHO really really well considering the lifestyle.

Wow - I just realized I never responded to this thread. The HFO era is definitely my favorite for Don. He is always HS&G, but HFO was a cut above the rest for me.

These are two of my favorite Don photos ever. Definitely a favorite look of mine.

That peasant blouse in the OTB poster makes me laugh. I'm pretty sure I had one a lot like that in 7th grade ;-)

Lol, NYC! This makes me want to have a better look at it! This is the only pic I have of it. I think Troub's color one shows it better. Was it blue? I thought it was white/cream.

I wonder what possessed him too :-) I particularly love the mushrooms and the clouds floating above. It looks like something I would have sewn in home-ec class. That embroidery was very big in the 70's. LOL

This photo truly proves that Don's hotness could make him look good in any bad fashion choice from the 70's...

Funny, as I recall, these 'man-blouses' were very popular in the 70's. I remember seeing lots of guys wearing them, in person and on TV. In fact, I'm pretty sure my ex husband had at least one. They weren't very popular where I grew up, though Don certainly sports that look now. (Flannel or flannel-looking, depending on whether it's winter or not. 40 years later and it's still the popular style there).

Funny, I don't remember ever seeing a man wear one back then! Maybe city boys? I'm from the rural midwest! Someone might get hurt wearing a manblouse around here! :hilarious:

Now, the plaid flannels are a different story. This is redneck country!

Brooke:

That is too funny. Manblouse :-) Reminds me of the Seinfeld puffy shirt.

I lived in Michigan at the time and remember a lot of workshirts (like the other guys had on in the OTB poster) and plenty of plaid, but not too many manblouses on guys.

I must say though, as much as I've kidded about it, Don did wear it well!

I do remember seeing the occasional man-blouse back in the day, but it was definitely among the hippie crowd - not a real popular fad in the red neck community.

And I agree, Don pulled it off beautifully! :partytime:

Hmmm, my hubby was nearly as much of a hippie as anyone around here and none of them had a manblouse! He now seems to have morphed in to more of a redneck.

But, I do agree too, that Don wore it well!

check out you tube : don henley, end of the innocence ,farm aid ,1990. he was so way beyond cool in his pony tail era!! that is my favorite don era. also love his afro days in the 70s. i assume his afro was the real deal . cant find out any info about it being real or not. wasnt everyone back then getting perms??? or was that the 80's. im sure it was the real deal.....

Brooke
02-28-2014, 03:18 PM
It was the 70's. I think it was a perm cause when he let his hair get long later it wasn't frizzy. And it isn't now either. We discussed this a while back, but am too lazy to go find it! Even if it was a perm, it looked fabulous!

I actually talked my hubby and my brother in to getting afro perms! They looked good but, they both shudder at the sight of one of those old pics now!

I think Don's hair back in the day wasn't completely straight nor totally curly without some help, but something in between. I don't know if I can handle an image of him with curlers in his hair! The magic of his fro would be lost!
