I thought that Joe fans might like to know that his daughter Lucy has been busy.

As you can see, you can download her single 'So Uncool' on iTunes now. Give it a listen, I think it's quite good.

And today the song has received a review in Billboard:

'Forget that Lucy Walsh is the daughter of Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh. the 24 year-old singer/songwriter from Santa Barbara, Calif., isn't relying on celebrity lineage to get noticed. Trained in piano, voice and music theory, Walsh played keyboards on Ashlee Simpson's 2004 "Autobiography" tour, and signed a deal with ISLAND after a series of New York showcases. "So Uncool," the first single from debut "Lost in the Lights" owes more to Walsh's idol, Cyndi Lauper and'80s freestyle than the Eagles. This uptempo, synth-heavy ode to relationship insecurity picks up where top 40 confections like "Toxic" left off. Radio can look to "So Uncool" as a way to fill the dance-pop void created when Britney met Kevin.'

Thanks for that JF. I gave it a listen and I agree with you. Lucy is quite good - good genes I guess. :D No matter what we sometimes think, I'd bet it really is difficult for the children of rock 'n roll legends to try to make it on their own. I wish her much success and am glad to see favorable reviews from Billboard for her.

Did anyone see Lucy about a week or so ago on Showbiz Tonight on CNN headline news? She was talking about how the economy (the gas prices, etc.) was affecting musicians.

I think she gets a lot of her "STYLE" from Cyndi Lauper. She's nicknamed herself or been dubbed "Neon". No matter, listen to her talent! The lady can sing and lordy can she ever play keyboards. She's learning guitar now too. No question in my mind as to where she get's that!

Her mom raised her pretty strictly on classical music and it is a heavy influence on her.

Lucy is definitely one to keep an eye out for. I think that with her exposure on TV in the Reality series and with the "name recognition" she can't avoid, she is going to be a force to recon with in the music industry.

Thanks for the find, Mike and I agree with what you said. Lucy is a very talented lady. I tried to watch the video but it keeps cutting out everytime she starts singing Lullaby for some reason. Oh well - I saw enough of it to get the idea.

I was on a very unstable wireless connection at a hotel when I got the notice that Lucy had updated her blog. I need to go read it. Dilana also updated her blog and it going to be appearing at the Roxy in front of a full Rock Band. Folks living in LA right now are fortunate in being able to witness acts like that for $10 a head!
