I LOVE Mexican Radio!! If anyone has an MP3 of it can they email it to me? It's not on iTunes.

Stuck In The Middle With You is one of my all time favourite songs but I've never thought of it as a driving song. Interesting.

This will be totally off the top of my head:

1. Take It Easy
2. Walk Of Life - Dire Straits (well there's a surprise  )
3. Start Me Up - Rolling Stones
4. Let's Go Crazy - Prince
5. Trampled Underfoot - Led Zeppelin (listen to the lyrics, which include 'I'm so glad I took a look inside your showroom door'...)
6. Highway Star - Deep Purple
7. I'm In Love With My Car - Queen
8. L.A. Woman - Doors
9. Why Aye Man - Mark Knopfler
10. Life In The Fast Lane

I had to fudge a little a list 12.

(I had NO IDEA who sang Radar Love. Golden Earring? Interesting.
BTW, Lynyrd Skynyrd sings Sweet Home Alabama.)

You're welcome.
Since I am from Alabama, that is practically our state song!

Actually, our state song is a very old waltz called Stars Fell on Alabama, but I like Sweet Home Alabama better. :D

I can think of tunes but not their titles - dang it. Let's see -

In no particular order

La Grange - ZZTop
I'm Going Home - Ten Years After
Life in the Fast Lane - Eagles
Like the Way I Do - Melissa Etheridge
Lubbock or Leave It - the Dixie Chicks
Catch The Wind - Donovan (I know, a weird pick)

Bring Me To Life - Evanescence

There are others but I'll stop there. Mmmmm - that list is showing my age, me thinks. LOL

Awesome Dana! What part of Alabama are you from? I was in Birmingham 4 years ago for the Amnesty International Conference with my AI group from college. I really enjoyed it and I loved Birmingham. I would love to go back to Birmingham and spend some time time there and explore the city. 8)

My dad saw Lynyrd Skynyrd not all that long ago at some free concert they were giving at some park in Chicago when he was in Chicago on a business trip and they did Sweet Home Alabama. I don't know what other songs they did though. :P

These are great! Some I haven't seen listed yet - and like Dana I included some I just find fun to listen to in the car and don't necessarily mention cars or driving:

Don't Stop - Fleetwood Mac
Already Gone - Eagles
Holiday Road - Lindsey Buckingham
Edge of Seventeen - Stevie Nicks
American Girl - Tom Petty
Where the Streets Have No Name - U2
St. Elmo's Fire - John Parr
The Power of Love - Huey Lewis
Tubthumping (I Get Knocked Down) - Chumbawumba
The Heat Is On / This Way to Happiness (tie) - Glenn Frey

Honorable Mention: Ol' 55 - Eagles (Yeah, it's slow, but it's worth it just for the line "the cars are all passin' me, the trucks are all flashin' me!")

P.S. GEF - I would've included half your list in mine if I wasn't trying to go for the "not mentioned before" angle!

And 12 that didn't make the top 10! lol

California Girls - The Beach Boys
I Only Want to Be with You - The Bay City Rollers
Tell Her About It - Billy Joel
Good Clean Fun - The Monkees
Maniac - Michael Sembello
Old Time Rock'n'Roll - Bob Seger
Queen of the Night - Whitney Houston
Tainted Love - Soft Cell
Take a Chance on Me - Abba
Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go - Wham
Walking on Sunshine - Katrina and the Waves
You Can't Hurry Love - Phil Collins

You've got some great choices Nancy. I agree about the line in Ol' 55. Oh and Don't Stop just came on my iPod. I'm gonna work on my list here in a bit. 8)

SH, I just read your post on the last page--I am from Birmingham. I'm glad you enjoyed our city--I love it here!

Here are a couple more driving songs I need to include:

I Can't Drive 55--Sammy Hagar
Life is a Highway--Rascall Flatts
West Bound & Down--Jerry Reed (remember this one from the Smokey & the Bandit movie?)

I like those, too, DF! West Bound and Down reminds me of the one called Convoy. Remember that one?

And one I can't believe I forgot-Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf! :D

EasyFeeling

I think I've never heard these songs but Steppenwolf. Or I've heard these and didn't know who it was.

I just wanted to add a song to my list: Listen To The Music by Doobie Brothers. Love this song as well as What A Fool Believes by Michael McDonald. :)
