I thought I'd open this thread for all general discussion of the upcoming tour. Individual threads for each tour stop will be opened, but this is a good place to talk about the tour dates in general.

Here are the announced places (so far):

Don Henley will launch a solo tour in October 2015 that will include concerts in Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; Durham, NC; Los Angeles, CA; Nashville, TN; New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Port Chester, NY; San Francisco, CA; Santa Barbara, CA; Toronto, ON and Washington, D.C. Singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin will open on all the dates. Each ticket ordered for any of the tour dates will receive a Cass County deluxe CD. Full tour details will be announced shortly.

Last month, I joked that if Don came to Atlanta, I'd be willing to take a Greyhound bus to get up there to see him. (3+ hour trip up there). I'll have to see in a few weeks if I even have a slim chance of coming up with bus, food, and hotel money plus ticket money. With my birthday money in September, I just might have enough.

With Don's tour starting the same month as my vacation, I probably won't be able to go to Nashville or Atlanta. But the only time I can go to any other city if: Chicago is the last week of October into the first week of November(I'll be in Missouri that week and I can drive to Chicago) OR they announced more cities. Heck I will go to any cities close to Missouri if there are more cities to be announced. I hope there's more cities. Maybe Don is only doing 15 cities to promote his album.

I'm hoping this is just the first leg, so to speak,

I hope so, VA.

Its funny that I'm seeing my other favorite group in Branson, MO the last week of October, but if I find out Don is near me that week I'm on vacation, I would drop everything, and drive to whatever city that's close. I love the Osmonds, but Don comes first since I've never seen him in concert and I've been seeing the Osmonds in Branson, MO since 2009.

I hope that he decides to do more dates. I checked the greyhound site. A round trip ticket is cheaper than I thought. ($40). My mom didn't think that the local bus terminal was still in business, but it is.

My mom said that she'd be willing to go if it's anywhere, but Atlanta. I'd much rather pay for 2 tickets and have her drive than to take a bus, which is something I've never done before.

I hope there are more dates, meaning St. Louis! Please, please Don! I don't really want to have to go to Chicago.

This is very exciting!! I've never seen Henley in concert only the Eagles in the 90s. Now I live closest to Chicago. Since this initial tour might only involve small venues and so few dates, for those who've seen Don at the smaller venues, do you think getting tickets be a problem? I also get a feeling this album is going to be big so perhaps it might be a problem getting tickets later.

I know, Brooke. I'm hoping for St. Louis or anything in Missouri when I'm there for vacation, but I'm definitely hoping for Chicago the end of October so I can drive there. 8 hours is a lot, but I will do it if he's close to me during my vacation week.

At least Brooke there will be US dates! If he does do Chicago or NY I might be tempted, particularly if it was late October (the last week - Sat 24th to Sun 1st November) as we have the mid term break then.

NYC and Port Chester! So exciting. The Capitol in Port Chester only holds 1,800 people. That will be great. Really hoping it's The Beacon in NY, but Radio City would be OK. I hope it's not the theater at MSG. Terrible venue.

Can't wait! This takes a tiny bit of the sting out of the HOTE tour ending...

Good minds think of alike. LOL I want that week for Chicago too since I'm going to be in Missouri that week for vacation.

Metro North goes right to Port Chester. I think it's maybe a 45 minute train ride. I'm sure the venue is probably close to the station. Port Chester isn't too big.

Just looked. Very close to the train station 😄

NYCFan - do you think he will be at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester? I looked for music venues in Port Chester and The Capitol Theatre came up and says Jackson Browne is performing there in Sept. It looks lovely, built in 1926 and last renovated in 2011/2012.

Hhhhhmmmm... I've never been to Chicago and if I went to the Chicago show I'd have to take the train, probably, which I've also never done. Daunting. :hilarious:

But I do hope he announces more dates, since I'd also be in school at the time of the tour and that can get dicey with planning dates and whatnot. Somewhere like Milwaukee would obviously be preferred, but I might have to do Chicago if I want to see Don!!

As far as I know, that's the only place in town that he would play. I haven't been there, but have heard great things.

I'm sure it will be a tough ticket. I definitely would like to see him there! And it's super easy to get to from Grand Central, for anyone thinking of going.

ETA: Sorry! Thought I quoted HB's question about the Capitol Theater in Port Chester. In a cab , not paying attention 😄

Now depending on when he is playing in Durham, October means college basketball is just starting. Durham means Duke University. It's early in the season so most games will be in Cameron. If I can work a Duke game in along with a Cass County concert life would be sweet. There is a 2015 NCAA Championship banner I really need to see.

Otherwise it is between Port Chester or Philly since both are pretty much equal distance. More likely than not it's Philly.

Thanks for the info, AG95, I already have a thread over in Pre-Concert Anticipation thread. If more have been announced, I haven't seen them. I don't have search capability on Twitter while here, so I have four windows open. Don's website, Joe's website, Ticketmaster search on Don's name, and Ticketmaster search on Joe's name. I hit Refresh when I returned from a meeting and almost fell out of my chair when it actually showed something!

I'm so glad I don't have to worry about Philly or NYC being scheduled for October 17th. One of my favorite comedians, Jim Jefferies, is going to be in Atlantic City that day and I have tickets. I like having the freedom to choose one or the other (or both !!). This happened in November of 2013, when I already had tickets for the boys at MSG and Jim did a show at Carnegie Hall the same day. I hate feeling conflicted.

Look at the gap between 18 October and 2 November. Our schools are closed from 23rd October until the 2 November! How annoying is that? I would have taken a nice little break to the US to see one of these shows. As it is there is only 1 Saturday show as far as I can see and that is in Atlanta.

Looking forward to the new LP anddddddd tour!

Opening show of tour in Phx...so here's the question... Any sense of knowing what the mix will be of new songs to old?

Seems these days everyone is good about knowing you don't tour to support an album...you tour to play your hits!

Just throwing that out there...any thoughts on how/where that might be revealed, prior to first show?? Thanks!

Forgive me if this has been mentioned before, but did you guys see you get a copy of the album with your ticket purchase? Looks like I'll be getting two right off the bat! I wonder when they'll arrive and how they will be counted by Billboard in terms of units sold? Did I just "pre-order" two albums? If so, that's what I call mutually beneficial!

We can do that, GA, but I had them shipped to my mother's house since I have no idea where I'll be at the end of Sept. It could be the end of October or into November before get my hands on them, and since it goes on sale in Ireland the same day as here, it would be faster by far for you to get it there!

There's also the possibility the date will be added back - that's happened before - but it's less and less likely as time passes!

I wonder if he's waiting to see how things go before adding more dates in other parts of the country?
