So Glenn is thinking of putting out an album of big-band music in the spring. Will these be covers? Things he's written? Both? Will it be mostly instrumentals? My dad used to be in one of these bands back in the late fifties and early sixties. I find this both surprising and intriguing. Of course we have to allow for the possibility that it won't materialize, but it's exciting to hear him even planning a solo album after all this time.

Exciting isn't the word. :D

I can hear him doing Sinatra's That's Life with all the requisite swagger. I don't know if that is what he has in mind. Big band music can also mean slow ballads with lots of horns. Why doesn't that surprise me?!

FP that's the exact song that I had in mind when I heard Glenn was going to do a "big band" album. He'd nail it!

It's funny you know. I finally heard Van Morrison do That's Life, and it's good, but it lacks Sinatra's pizzazz, which Glenn would give it in spades.

We were talking about this in chat earlier. Mack The Knife, anybody?!!

Um... I thought I'd find an appropriate smileyhttp://www.anchoredbygrace.com/smileys/orangehat.gif

but then I saw this http://www.anchoredbygrace.com/smileys/mgbowtie.gif

and I put my hand over my mouth. I am getting way ahead of myself here.

At first I just culdn't imagine Glenn doing either musicals or big band! I'm just stuck on him being the "rock star"!

But, now that I think about it, yes I can! He's changed a lot over the years!

Wow! The idea of Glenn  doing a big band album really appeals to me. I enjoy that kind of music (I find Michael Buble's revival of the big band sound, as well as his own songs, very appealing), and Glenn  is such an amazing and versatile singer that I have no doubt he will do whichever songs he chooses extremely well.

FP, I understand what you mean when you mentioned that Glenn  possibly doing slow ballads with lots of horns does not surprise you. He really seems to favour a brass section in his solo work, and has of course brought it into the Eagles' music as well. I would also like to hear him do "Mack The Knife" - hopefully that song will be one of his choices. I've always enjoyed Bobby Darin's version very much, and it's a great song.
