As Joe mentions in his Nov 1st interview with Planet Rock, recently Timothy was injured while surfing in Hawaii. Apparently a big wave swept the surfboard from underneath him and the surfboard then came up and knocked him directly in the throat. As a result of this, the muscles that control Timothy's larnyx were bruised. The recovery time from this injury is 4-6 months and he is expected to make a full recovery.

What a shame, but I'm so glad he will make a complete recovery!

Oh my gosh! Poor Tim! Did he not get the memo...no injuries allowed. lol But seriously, I'm glad he'll be ok. A blow to the neck can be fatal.

Fatal?! OK, that's it. NO MORE SURFING, guys. That includes Don! Don't make me come to Hawaii and take your boards away. ;)

Good grief, I'm really late in responding to this topic, but I did see it when it was first posted, and I just want to add my wishes for Timmy to enjoy a speedy recovery. He certainly did well at the CMA Awards! :D

As you may have seen in the Glenn Pebble Beach thread;

When I was at PB I spoke to Glenn briefly about Timothy. I asked Glenn if the fact that the Eagles are touring means that Timothy is fully recovered from his injuries and Glenn said YES!!! :D

I'm delighted for Timmy. It would have been awful if he could not have been able to perform to his usual standards.

Timothy showed up for Joe's chat last night and when he was asked about his voice, he said it was 90% back! He also said he's doing several therapies and sings every day when they aren't touring. He looked great and seemed in good spirits. They were both having a hard time reading everyone's text and at one point he put on Joe's glasses. I'm so happy I made it to the chat, especially since Timothy showed up!

That's great, Rckn! I find the bit about sharing glasses very endearing - I'm at the same stage myself with hubby!

Although this blog entry (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/soundboard/2007/11/hard-times-for.html) is dated November 13, 2007, I only saw it today. I don't think I've seen it posted here before. He seems to have a great outlook on life.

Thanks for posting that, tbsfan. I knew about the injury, but not about the wildfires and the accident to his mother. I hope she has recovered now, and I'm delighted that Timothy's voice is as good as ever now.

Oh wow - thanks for finding that tbsf. I didn't know about the wildfires or injury to Tim's mom either. I hope she is doing well.

I'm posting this question here because it mentions the wildfires and Timothy's house. Does anyone know if the guy's homes are near this last round of fires? From what I read and saw on tv the houses that are burning are mega bucks homes. I know Don's family lives in Texas but I did read that he also keeps a home in Ca. I think the Malibu area.

I was wondering that too.

I'm sure you have all scoured the Internet looking for confirmation that Tim's home didn't burn down. I did also and found nothing.

I sincerely hope that is a good indication that his home was not damaged.

I also checked his Blog on his home page and in addition, joined the "Feed The Fire" Yahoo group to see if any of those fans knew anything. Nothing about the fire was mentioned.

I just thought of how ironic was the name of that Yahoo Group!

I have looked and it does not appear that the fires were particularlly near to his home this time! very lucky indeed.
