Well that sucks. He's not coming to the south. :weep: He's mostly in the northeast this time with a few midwest and northwest dates. I was hoping he would have a few south dates in there. Well it looks like I won't be going to any of his shows.

Oh well. I guess I either have to wait and see if he does a fall tour or wait until next year.

I'm afraid his jaunts to Nashville and Atlanta may have made up the entirety of his "southern leg" for the whole tour. We'll see.

I hope there's more shows later in the year, Soda. I hope he does a fall tour. If not, it looks like I won't be seeing Don this year. Boy do I wish I was seeing Joe. He's going to be New Orleans in May.

I guess Dallas is the only south date this year.

FYI his Aug 19 "Toronto" date is actually in Rama (near Orillia). Its about an 1.5 hrs away from Toronto. Needless to say I'm planning to be at this show just gotta work out some logistics.

Nice! I hope everyone who wants to see Don on this tour gets the chance but it does look like quite a commute for those in certain parts of the country. Perhaps he's planning to fill those gaps with a fall tour - from a marketing standpoint that makes sense as well as from a personal one - he can take a good break in between to be with family & attend to other interests/commitments. I'm curious who his band and back up singers will be.

I think Don is probably going to keep Will, Scott, Michael, and Steaurt. From what I've seen, he doesn't get new band members a lot. Will and Michael started out in Don's solo band before they hired them to be part of the Eagles backup band. I don't see Steuart going anywhere. Scott has been loyal to the Eagles and Don for 22 years. So I don't think he's going anywhere. Don's bass player, Lance has been in the band since the Inside Job era. I'm more surprise he's still in Don's band since he's only needed when Don is touring. Then we have Chris Holt. I think I remembered in an interview he did in February he was touring with Don.

So I think its safe to say he's keeping Will, Scott, Michael and Steuart. They will now be fully employees of Don now instead of the band. Of course if they decided to stay which I think they will.

I wonder if Don is keeping Erica, Laura and Lily or he will get new backup singers? I guess we will see.

I'm going to wait and see if Don does a fall tour or if he's going to take a break for the rest of the year and start back next year. Its nice to see that Don is touring for 4 months instead of 2 months like last year. I was kinda shocked on that one. My chances of Don is probably good. So I'm going to be patient knowing I will get my chance to see him down the road and even Joe. I just wish he had just one southern date. LOL

Any predictions as to the set list for these shows? Selfishly I am hoping he includes a tribute to Glenn and at least a few Eagles songs.

shunlvswx
04-04-2016, 01:24 PM
He might put some of the Eagle songs back in the show and less songs from Cass County. But than again. It maybe hard for him to sing those songs he wrote with Glenn, but than again. That's majority of the songs he wrote.

I think I read he's singing some of the Eagles songs and of course his solo songs. It sucks he took out the Inside Job album songs. Their are some good songs from that album.

Thanks, Lacken. As long as Don doesn't announced he's about to retire lol, I have a good year or two to see him. I don't want to miss my change in seeing Don and Joe in concert like I did with seeing them as a group. So I'll be patient. I've been hoping and praying to see Don in concert and I'm not giving up. I've been patient this long, I can be patient a little longer.

I probably won't be able to make any of these, awwww. Even though I could probably feasibly go to one of the two Illinois dates, I really really have to save that travel and ticket money for next year's apartment, my car insurance, etc. Damn being a broke college kid!

So, no Don for me as of right now, but hopefully a fall tour brings him to Milwaukee and other smaller markets, since in-state shows are much cheaper for me to get to. I hope everyone going to the shows has a blast, though!! I will be living vicariously through you all.

Thank you all for your encouraging words. I had missed the bit Utw posted about the show and I think the description sounds very promising indeed. I'll still give it some thought but on balance, I'm leaning towards going if possible. I'll probably have to push a little harder than usual as I've only just persuaded my parents to get two tickets for the Australian Pink Floyd Show (I'm going with my Dad - my Mum doesn't like Floyd much so isn't bothered about seeing a tribute band) this autumn.

The only real problem is that my parents have got tickets for a Buch Bacharach show on 29th June so I just hope that doesn't prevent me going to see Don. My parents don't let me go to concerts on my own and there's no chance they'd let me go to one beyond Liverpool. I don't have any friends who share my music tastes so I feel I can't drag one or both them along to a show I'm not sure they'd enjoy. If I went it would definitely be the Manchester show, it's geographically pretty close (about 30-40 miles from where I live), whereas Glasgow is quite a long and arduous journey from where I am and although London is just about in reach, I sense that show is built more around Carole King playing Tapestry in full and that doesn't really appeal to me (I'd rather listen to Don play the whole of Cass County and nothing else, though I'm not sure my parents would).

In a way it felt therapeutic to write my thoughts down and it felt better to get them out and I feel happier now. I am sure I would enjoy most if not all of Don's show - I like Cass County a lot with just a couple of exceptions and I'd enjoy hearing his hits and certainly any Eagles songs (if he puts, say, The Last Resort or Waiting In The Weeds on the setlist I'd be kicking myself).

By coincidence, my Dad mentioned tonight that he'd heard that Don was playing in Manchester, although I didn't say anything as he'd just printed off the Aussie Floyd tickets and I thought it was a bad time to mention it. I did actually mention the Walsh/Bad Company tour to him recently, as that show would appeal to him and me, although obviously that's a US only tour for now at least.

Out of interest, how quickly do tickets for Don's solo shows tend to sell out? My sister is a big Taylor Swift fan and has been to see her four times (once on each of her UK tours I think) and each time there seems to be a mad rush to get tickets pretty much they become available. By contrast, when I went to see Neil Young in July 2014 I was able to get tickets about 3-4 weeks before the show after being tipped off. Just wanted to get some idea of how much urgency is required.

I saw Don, the last time he did shows in the UK, in 1989. Before the internet, before big screens, before the Eagles resumption. Don had radio airplay, albums on the charts, was even on Top Of The Pops but the show I attended, at the Birmingham International Arena, wasn't a sell out or even a full house. I did enjoy it, though.

I don't know how Don'll do in 2016, except that the audience will be a few decades older.

! wont be getting Henley tickets until I know what Joe is up to for the second part of the summer. I'm not fussy about tickets and although I like Don. I love Joe.

Taylor Swift was ridiculous. For her 2014 shows in the UK all tickets were gone at the presale. There were no Irish shows so I had to go on stubhub to get tickets for my daughter and bring her to London.

In late 2014 she advertised only UK dates again. Not want to be caught napping a lot of Irish people (myself included) bought tickets for UK venues (We did Glasgow). Again the tickets sold out on presale. Two seeks later what does she do - announces 2 DUBLIN dates!! The flights to and from Glasgow were full of 'Swifties' who had done the same as we had!!

As Don wraps up his last tour date in Europe tomorrow, I'm soo glad everybody had fun. I know some had doubts earlier. But to hear everybody's stories of seeing Don for the first time and enjoying themselves, it puts a smile on my face. I hope the Australian fans get to see Don maybe next year.

Now Don is heading back home. He'll take a week and a half off and then start back up in Canada on the 13th.

Thank you everybody that went to see Don. I enjoyed your recaps. I'm waiting my turn to see my very first Don show. I'm looking forward to seeing Joe in 42 days.
