***** Please note The Desert Sun has confirmed the following announcement and flyer published by LA Weekly re Desert Trip 2017 was a HOAX/April Fools Joke. My sincere apologies to all. ******

If you haven't seen the talent lineup yet ... It's HUGE. REO Speedwagon. Jason Bonham Led Zeppelin Experience, Styx, Supertramp, James Taylor, Bread, Kansas, to name a few.

Wondering if Felder will take a drive out to the desert to join Styx or just hang out? The desert in October is beautiful.

FP, yes I noticed that too. But given he's touring with Sytx and REO Speedwagon this summer I got to thinking he might make a surprise appearance in the desert in Oct.

Not being a smart a$s, but as I read the line-up I thought a number of those people were dead. Terry Jacks for one. I wonder who is in Bread now, as David Gates is retired from performing and Jimmy Griffin died years ago.

Fascinating question. He and Robb Royer are the only living members

Wasn't that Desert Trip 2017 announcement an April Fools day joke?

Yes thanks NYC Fan I am so sorry!! The Desert Sun has confirmed it was a hoax by LA Weekly. I hate to say this but the only one I actually wanted to see was James Taylor. I wonder if any of the performers are pissed off? I can't imagine LA Weekly isn't getting a lot of heat for this prank.

I think I can and should delete the thread.

There's no need to apologise Dawn, I fell for it too! Thanks NY Fan :p

What a lousy roster. LA Weekly must've had a hoot putting that together.

Didn't even twig when I read; "Once you're drunk and full of Pok Pok, even .38 Special sounds pretty great," ... well it's true isn't it! :bye:

Dawn-

No apologies, of course! I just was wondering if I had missed something, and it was real 😁

Curious who will be at it this year. A friend of mine went last year and enjoyed it, but said it was ridiculously crowded and very hot.

Ha! Good 'un. Starland Vocal Band appearing on the same bill as viable concerns like James Taylor had me utterly confused.

Seems like there could be some legal ramifications

Isn't there still a Desert Trip happening though? I thought last year they said the plan was to do a 70s themed one this year after the 60s one last year, then an 80s one in 2018 and a 90s one in 2019.

That's what I had read too, Buffyfan. But last year's happened in October. This year a lot of 70s acts are appearing in the Hard Rock Cafe/Quintana Roo shows this October (included both Don H and Don F). That may affect where and when this year's Desert Trip happens.

Thanks Delilah and that makes sense. :D If I'm remembering right last year's lineup wasn't announced for awhile into 2016 so it still might be too early for it.

I've read promoters had wanted Police to reunite for Desert Trip 2017 other bands Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen.
