Post your recaps here for the first night of the tour.

From what I've heard and seen. They added How Long, Ol' 55, I Don't Want To Hear Anymore, and Victim Of Love to the setlist. Maybe more, but that's all I've seen for right now. I guess Timothy has three songs now.

I’m pulling for waiting in the weeds. If they can do that, that would be awesome. I thought how long was a perfect song to add for Deacon and I knew Vince loved ol’55. I think adding VOL is awesome as well. I’m glad they are changing it up

It looks like Will is part of the backing band. He's not up front but you can see him.

Yes, going to the Houston concert in June.

I agree about How Long. It kinda chokes me up thinking about Deacon singing it. It’s bittersweet.

I saw the setlist on setlist.fm, but I'm not going to post it because its very incomplete. Its missing Witchy Woman, One of These Nights and I Can't Tell You Why. Its also saying that Peaceful Easy Feeling is not in the set. I'm going to wait to post the songs or when somebody who was there to post the songs, but I know those songs are there. I've seen video.

Yeah. Two songs from Long Road Out of Eden. I've never thought in a million years they would bring back Victim Of Love. I wonder who's playing the famous solo at the beginning and through the song.

Here's the setlist. It looks right. I guess One Of These Nights was dropped, but I thought it was played. I'm ok with that so we can I Don't Want To Hear Anymore, How Long, and Ol' 55. I don't know what was dropped other than One Of These Nights.

Man, only 6 Don Henley songs out of 25?! I hope the list is wrong and they did play OOTN. Obviously thrilled about a 3rd Timothy song and How Long, but sheesh. Also, it sounds like they played Vince's new song, and that's not on the list. I need the set list to be more Don-heavy to justify supporting Eagles 3.0.

shunlvswx
03-12-2018, 11:42 PM
You're right, Delilah. That's what's missing.

I definitely wouldn't miss In The City if they had dropped that. I think I'm slowly starting to like it again. I've had been City out when they played it so much on Sirius.

If you count How Long and Ol' 55, its 8. I think Don had 6 on the last tour. I thought I read they did OOTN and their was a problem during that song.

DiscoStrangler will probably give us more detail soon.

IDK. Azoff and Henley are probably sensitive to criticism that this is Henley and his backing band. I’ve seen this expressed on the net, esp. with Henley being the only original member. It may be a good idea to have more vocal leads by the others.

The setlist has been reupdated. One Of These Nights was sung. So MC. That is 7 and if we're counting Don singing co-lead on Ol' 55 and How Long (unless he's not doing his usual on these songs), its 9.

And it now includes the Vince Gill song. I'll be interested to hear it.

shunlvswx
03-13-2018, 12:13 AM
The setlist.fm updated again. From this list, Best Of My Love was sung. 28 songs were sung.

Delilah
03-13-2018, 12:31 AM
That’s so cool that a Vince song was included, though “Next Big Thing” isn’t one of my favorites.

So Don sings 8-10 songs out of 28. Not a bad ratio.

DiscoStrangler
03-13-2018, 12:54 AM
The setlist posted is accurate. During OOTN, Don's voice was drowned out by the instruments. I chalked this up to yet another sound issue at the Fieldhouse. Historically, it's not the best venue for concerts around here. Depending on who is playing, they seem to have a hard time with the sound.

I loved their show in Louisville last fall, but this one topped it. I think they have rehearsed like crazy and it showed tonight. They sounded more polished.

I'm glad I saw the show at the beginning of the tour. I'll be interested to read reviews at the end of it. Don made the comment at the beginning of the show about it being the start of a long tour and they had 52 more to go.

It was so great to How Long in person. They sounded great! I do wish they would've played The Long Run. I'm not sure why that gets left out.

Side note... People next to me were complaining about the show being to Walsh-heavy. He did the typical Joe Walsh songs he's done for years when touring with them.

Lastly, I have to be at work in 6 hours. I'm really wishing I took tomorrow off!

shunlvswx
03-13-2018, 01:01 AM
Did Don sing co-lead on How Long and Ol' 55?

They complained about too much Joe songs? Oh my. Yep. Its the same songs he's been singing since he's been in the band. I shake my head on that one. They must had never been to a show.

You sound like me. I'm driving 3 hours to New Orleans and heading back after the show and I'm not taking off that day and the next day. I think I will be fine. I drive to my state coast and back all the time.
Thanks for the recap.

Don did sing co-lead on How Long with Deacon but I feel like Vince pretty much sang Ol 55 himself.

Of course the people complaining about Walsh had also never heard of Long Road Out of Eden. So obviously big fans.

Thanks. Ol' 55 was mostly sung by Glenn and Don had those few lines (stars beginning to fade) throughout the song, but it was always credited as Don singing co-lead with Glenn on that song.

Great to hear that you enjoyed it.

It's probably none of my business as I won't be attending anything on this tour, but I'm pleased to see a good number of Deacon lead vocals. It's a bit disappointing for me that the Grand Ol Opry radio broadcast only has one DF vocal.

I don't think there's too much Joe in general, but perhaps they could be spread out a bit more. Of the seven songs from 21 to 27 in the setlist, five of them are Joe songs.

It would be very nice if they released a live Blu-ray of a concert/the tour. And in that case, I would prefer if they included some deep cuts. Ol' '55 counts in my book.

Loved how they described Joe, Timothy, and Don:

Joe--worthy of national treasure status :headbang:
Timothy--dotes on fans more than any other member of the band

Why oh why I have to wait until June. Makes me want to buy a ticket for Birmingham next month. LOL I really hope Ol' 55, Victim of Love, How Long and I Don't Want To Hear Anymore is not dropped by June. Crossing fingers its not. Now they add a new old song in that place, I'm ok with.

I'm looking forward to hearing those songs.

I'm looking forward to seeing them in Nashville. I also hope that they keep the extra songs in the setlist. The next shows coming up have JD & the Straight Shot opening for them whereas last night they did not. I wonder if that is the case why the setlist was lengthened and if it will be cut back moving forward when they have them as an opener. Hopefully NOT!

I just looked up Victim of Love. I thought the last time it was played was the Millennium concerts. They actually did play it in 2002 in Bossier City, LA. If that setlist is right, they played 38 songs that night. Yikes!!! I don't know if that's right with that many songs.

I haven't gotten my tickets yet for New Orleans, but I'm pushing for the end of this month. I was going to order it when I got paid on Thursday, but something came up and I had to go into my ticket money. Then I have to buy a few things out of this check so I don't have enough to buy them. I'll be 30 dollars short again. LOL I was not happy about that, but they still have some tickets at the top left thank goodness.

I agree. I thought maybe they might do it the way they did it in the 70s with the shared leads, but Vince did a great job. It was kinda weird not hearing Don singing "the stars beginning to fade" lines. I heard a snippet of Deacon singing How Long and he was singing Don's verse. So Deacon is probably singing the whole song. I just wish their was a clip of How Long from last night.

Glad you had a great time, DiscoStrangler!

I can wait to see them in Dallas in June!! I wonder if the setlist will change because they have Chris Stapleton opening for them? Geez, I hope not, I don't want any songs left out. They can add a few more, but don't cut any.

I agree, ETG. You can add more songs, but don't cut. They might not songs when they have Chris, James and Jimmy opening for them. Now their sets might be short.

Now if they just don't add JD and the Straight Shot to the show I'm going to I'll be fine.

Great pictures. I'm surprised they had a picture of Will. They probably didn't know that was Don's son they just took a picture of. Maybe they did. It was a nice picture of Will. We probably will see a lot of pictures of him since he's standing just a little to the side of Vince.
