I just got an e-mail at RMO that the guy pretending to be Randy Meisner in order to get chicks and freebies at bars and casinos is still at it. He was spotted at the Golden Nugget Casino on January 20th trying to pick up girls with his lies. Disgusting!

Oh, that is too sick by half. I wonder how poor Randy would feel if he knew?

By the way, I looked at a very short interview with Randy in the British mag, Classic Rock, today. Unlike Don Felder, Randy was completely gracious when talking about Don and Glenn. He mentioned how they helped when he got stuck on the lyrics for Take It To The Limit, and also how he hated having to sing it in the limelight. he also said he couldn't read music, so all his guitar playing was by ear. I may have to get a copy. Last month there was an interview with Don Henley in the same mag, but it looked almost word for word like one that has been posted here, so I didn't get it. I can buy a back issue if anyone wants.

Wonder if they arrested the guy in January. If I were Randy, I'd be quite very disturbed by this person's freakish behavior. Hopefully, this guy can be stopped.

And GEF, it would be cool to get that Randy interview. They are such a rarity.

Randy does know about this guy - one time, Randy even got arrested because the police thought he was the imposter instead of the other way around! This imposter has been arrested before - he's been trolling Vegas for YEARS. Obviously, it hasn't deterred him. What a pathetic person.

The guy who e-mailed me didn't say anything about an arrest this time.

It would be great if you could scan in that Randy interview, GEF. It sounds very interesting. I'm glad he's not bitter.

My local supermarket didn't have the magazine today, but I'll try the other shop tomorrow.

Poor Randy to be arrested. That's terrible. Although this guy isn't exactly perpetrating a lockable offence, he clearly needs some counselling, followed by a kick up the backside, IMO.

That makes me sick. This guy really needs to get professional help.

Out of jail, and at it again, this past weekend in Vegas.

I don't know what I find most distasteful about this, but near the top would be that this man tells people he is a CURRENT member of the Eagles.

WOW--the jail cell didn't stop him I wonder if a padded cell wouldn't be a better option! Guy obviously has some issues!

Unbelievable. My wife and I were staying at 4-Queens right next to the Golden Nugget until Jan 30. I don't play at the GN but my wife does!

He served 16 years for this and he's at it again? What an idiot! :brickwall:

I wish you had met up with this joker, Mike. You'd have given him what-for!

I wouldn't have minded bumping into him....with a Mac Truck!

Actually, I think his time is probably "short" right now. Seems like Vegas is his main target town and no one in the world has better surveillance facilities than Glitter Gulch! If he shows in any of the main casinos (and GN is one!) he is toast...again.

I don't know, he's been "known" in Vegas for years and nothing's been done by any of the casinos to keep him out. Maybe they figure that since he's not cheating at gambling or attacking anyone, he's not their concern.

He might want to stop or he will get some of me:-xgrrrr:{{{{

Prolly right Soda. But in these days, the casinos are not going to want ANYONE but THEM getting their gambler's money! There is not a doubt in my mind that they "could" ID anyone. Many of the casinos have digital recognition that is pretty sophisticated. I just can't imagine them "allowing" anyone to take the money of THEIR customers because if the customers don't have it, the Casinos can't get it!

However, since he hasn't been nabbed this time around, one has to wonder if they do care....maybe they are just loaded with too many other problems trying to stay afloat right now....economy you know.

A lot of people that don't have a life or haven't accomplished anything do that type of stuff, its not uncommon. Do you remember reading about that guy that was at a White house party dressed up like an army general with more decorations than a Christmas tree? He's just another nobody that was trying to inflate his personal value by showing up with medals he didn't earn and a rank that the army would have to be totally desperate to give to a nobody like that.

Randy never wanted to be the front man type. He wanted to contribute to the sound of the Eagles, and other groups he was a member of before and after the Eagles. Record companies wanted to exploit former big name band members to increase sales.

I remember the guy who sent me the e-mail that inspired this thread said that this dude was just sitting at the bar waiting for an opportunity to strike up a conversation about "the old days." Pathetic.

so I saw this article and realize it's old news: http://www.gambling911.com/gambling-news/randy-meisner-imposter-still-conning-super-bowl-vegas-020409.html

but if you read the comments...he's still at it as recently as last August!

Does the article say he served 16 YEARS for impersonating? Does anyone know if that is accurate? Seems a little excessive, but I don't know how much $$ he actually stole...

It says 16 years for impersonating Randy, but as the article states, he was using his status as "Randy Meisner" to solicit "donations" for a charity - and he was taking as much as he could get from his victims. He did this to multiple people. Who knows how many thousands of dollars he conned people out of. That's stealing, plain and simple, and you can get 16 years for that, easy.

I think that guy is probably mentally unstable. Scary.

Funny quote from Randy about the horrid imposter that caused so much trouble.

"I consider myself ugly," said Meisner, "but this guy is pretty darn ugly."

And poor Randy being confronted by a woman with an ice pick. :fear: Yikes!

I had to check the original Nov 1997 San Francisco Chronicle article before I could believe Randy actually referred to himself as ugly. He did. Something very wrong with the mirrors in his house :)

I was going to say the same thing, does he not look in the mirror?!

I took it as Randy half-joking. He's such a sweet guy he couldn't cut down the imposter without taking a jab at himself too.

(I looked to see if that Chronicle article was already linked here and I didn't find it. I went with the book since it mentioned the article anyway).
