In this clip, John Mayer ("Your Body is a Wonderland") dresses as a bear to go out among his fans in disguise and kid around. It made me laugh so hard - can you imagine one of the guys doing this?

Oh my! John Mayer was hilarious!

And Bob WAS young there! Interesting that he held the mic in one hand and played the keyboard with the other the whole time.

Those were great. Thanks Soda! :D

Thanks for those, Soda. I loved the John Mayer one and like Brooke, I thought it was interesting how Bob held the mike during his entire performance. What - was this in the days before mike stands were invented.

John Mayer has a really funny sense of humor. I've seen other video's of him being funny - he's hysterical. I think it's great that he has such a sense of humor about himself.

As for Bob Seger - I think the older Bob is a lot hotter than the younger Bob :D

Eagles-friends: I imagine some of you also love the 70's band America. In case you don't know, they continue to tour and have some great web sites and blog (which has a heavy amount of daily traffic), and of course there are lots of videos of them on youtube.

Their web site is: http://venturahighway.com/
Their blog is: http://america.accessbackstage.com/blog/
Their fan page (which is really fantastic) is: http://www.accessbackstage.com/america/

Also, I've posted six youtube videos of my America covers at: youtube.com/ajmora.

Thought y'all would appreciate this.

My SIL's father was in the Army and she grew up in England and went to high school with the two guys from the band America. Apparently they were Army brats too. She and my brother recently got to see them in concert and afterward she got to talk to them briefly. As soon as she said the name of the high school they said "Go Wildcats!", referring to the name of their team back then.

Sorry TBF, I almost forgot to answer your question, although I don't know much. I think she did show me an autographed picture of them. She said she was more the age of Dewey's brother.

Here's what Wiki says about their early years...
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sons of American fathers and British mothers, their fathers being military personnel stationed at the United States Air Force (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Air_Force) installation at RAF West (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Ruislip_station) Ruislip (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruislip), London, all three attended London Central High School (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Central_Elementary_High_School), at Bushey Hall, about 16 miles Northwest of London, in during the mid-1960s where they met while playing in two different bands.

PM-I don't know if your husband is actually into the ukelele or if it's because it's a Beatles tune, it is amazing nevertheless. Here's another one I thought he might like to check out. It is by Greg Hawkes, former keyboard player for my beloved Cars. I really like some of them but then others that he does like the Cars songs just don't sound right as ukelele music. I really like this version of Eleanor Rigby tho.

The recent Buffalo Springfield reunion reminded me of the first time I heard a version of "For What It's Worth" when I was a child (this does not have the same lyrics in the verses; it was modified for the anti-hunting skit on The Muppet Show). It really affected me as a child and to this day, when I hear the original, I think of this.

Yup,

Golden, Colorado's pride! The guy playing guitar..."Les Paul" I think his name was....

Did you know his right elbow was lock into that right-angled position? I think he was in a car wreck or something but it was after he started playing guitar. The doctors at that time didn't have the knowledge or technology to repair it after the crash and he was given the option of having it pinned and bolted (or whatever they could do back then) either one position. Les Paul elected to have it locked into that right-angled position so he could continue to play guitar.

I recon he did quite well. He was much better known back then for his performances than for his work in developing guitars. His association with Gibson and the Les Paul trademark guitars far out-shined his playing skills though and that's a shame. He really was a fantastic guitarist.

Hope I'm posting this in the right thread. This kid is so flipping cute! Our local American Legion has the dad (Craig, playing the concertina-better looking in person!) playing with another guy (no one in this band). You know the guy in every polka band that can't sing on key? This guy makes them look good. Anyway, I've seen the mom pick up a horn & play a song with them. I'm only seeing the back of her, but it could be her singing. I've never heard her sing before. They have a little daughter that is just as cute as the boy. They play every Thursday night and they have Polish food. I go for the pork & sauerkraut. The kid was making drum faces tonight! It was so adorable. I happened to be walking to the bathroom at the same time as him. I told him he was a pretty good drummer and he thanked me. I asked him if his dad taught him to play and he said he learned from watching other people. He plays better than his dad. His dad plays with the monotonous polka beat. The kid puts some heart into it. Sorry this was rambling. The kid is just so cute!

I have a niggle at the back of my mind which says that Dobie Gray wasn't the only person to record a vocal version of 'The In Crowd'. I know the Ramsey Lewis Trio also recorded it, but that seems to be an instrumental version.

I apologise in advance to any Roxy Music fans, but this is definitely one of those 'what were they thinking of' moments. I've never been a fan of Adele simply because all I ever heard when background music is 'thought' to be required in a TV programme is her version of 'Make you feel my love'. (Please note, programme directors/producers, that a certain Timothy B Schmit does a far superior version. :) )

'The Voice' has just started in the UK, and talk on a forum lead me to look on You Tube for any videos from the US version. Which in turn lead me to Adele singing Bonnie Raitt's 'I can't make you love me' at the iTunes Festival 2011.
Someone called Sassafrasslassluv has written what I think is a superb 'review' of that performance. Or do I mean description of the song?
"I was surprised... I figured if anyone would do this song right it would be Adele... it didn't hold the emotion i expected and wanted from it... and it was rushed. So many rush this song and they just sing it... you don't SING this song... you BLEED it. She didn't bleed this song. It was merely sung as anyone could sing it. Feel it... then sing it with your soul... with your broken, ripped out heart."

I actually like Adele. I think she has one of the best voices in music.

So let me get this straight - you posted the Adele video here because you didn't like it?! What was the point of that?

UK TimFan
03-31-2012, 08:55 PM
It wasn't a case of 'I'm posting something I don't like'.

My main point was the comment someone had made about Adele's perfomance, because I thought the bit about 'you don't SING this song... you BLEED it' was such a good description of the emotion in the song itself. But because I was quoting someone (and because I was conscious of possible copyright issues) I had to give the link.

I posted a performance by Bonnie so that if people were interested they could compare the two versions.

Love Bonnie Raitt, but I actually prefer Adele's version!

Remembering the comment Glenn made during the interview on the BBC Breakfast tv programme about Linda Ronstadt singing with Nelson Riddle I wondered if anyone would be interested in hearing her version of 'I love you for sentimental reasons' which I found by chance.

I was wondering if people had any opinions on the Record of the Year. It's the first time an Australian has won it since Olivia Newton-John won in 1975 for I Honestly Love You (peculiar choice). I watched it yesterday & I like it but whether the guy will be able to sustain it is another question.

I like the song. It was absolutely huge last year. Funnily enough, I remember the first time I heard it because it was on the flight back from America last May.

Reviving this thread.

We got together with some friends Friday night and our friend was telling us about this video. We had to pull it up and I thought it was worth sharing. I remember the Animaniacs when my kids were little but I don't remember this spoof.

Familiar as I am with Sam Cooke, his light style is wrong for this song. I know I am biased but it does make you realise how beautifully heartfelt Glenn's version is.

This might not be as good as Randy's version, but it sure beats the dreadful version by Tom Jones.

Ok, this is for fun. This is yours truly singing PEF. Just a fun lighthearted fun video. I'm not much of a singer but as I don't have one every time I want to do a video, I have not much choice but to sing or do instrumentals and I'm not big on the latter, lol.

This is for the Stevie Nicks fans out there and guitar fans too I suppose.

I was playing the EOS riff tonight and thought I'd record it. It's a great challenge to play it live and I've done it a couple of times when we've had a singer sit in with us and it's great.

A cover version of HC.
Seem to be some negative comments about the guy in the red shirt, though personally I think he has one of the hardest parts to sing.

I don't know how I missed this one until now. Timothy B,. so cute in that 1980's way. Not his best hair in the 80's, but you can't ruin that sexy way about him, even with the mullet thing going on!

This isn't on YouTube but it's on my Instagram as a video.

My take on Joe's classic Life In The Fast Lane intro.

I dialed up my rig with my Fender Stratocaster guitar, Fender Bassman amp, echo pedal and I tried to get Joe's exact tone from the record. I think I got fairly close sound-wise.
