New book about the Eagles
I just found out that a new book came out
about the Eagles...has anyone read it? It's Life in the Fast Lane by Mick Wall. I'm not sure if I will; I wasn't impressed by the Eliot book. (I'm sorry if there is a thread about this already, I searched and didn't find one!)
Re: New book about the Eagles
Thanks for letting us know about this, groupie. Although there's likely not much in there that we don't already know, I'll probably go ahead and check it out anyway.
Re: New book about the Eagles
I have his books on Led Zeppelin and Guns N' Roses so I will probably get this one.
Re: New book about the Eagles
Sounde great! Definitely interested.
Re: New book about the Eagles
My copy was just delivered. It's about 320 pages and divided into two sections titled "All the Right People" and "Heavenly Bills". I'm not sure when I'll get around to reading it, but I'll post my thoughts when I'm done.
Re: New book about the Eagles
Amazon website will let you read a fairly long sample of "Life in the Fast Lane", and I was unimpressed. Seemed intent on naming all valley artists at the time in his setup, complete with quick statements of their supposed abilities and mindsets, as if he knew them personally. Seemed to be trying too hard to be edgy. Quotes from History of the Eagles as an "interview" without giving credit. Rather smart-aleck assessments of people. Plus, I feel biographers should simply provide facts without inserting their personal biases. The opening statement of chapter one: "The Eagles have never been anyone's favorite band." REALLY. :scowl: Still thought trying to make money off of them was a good idea, didn't ya?
