This is cool! LOL Don's Tex-Fro and Joe's tiny t-shirt.
Do you think the first half of the video is the feed from just the three guitars? I see Don and Randy playing but hear no drums or bass. It looks like Don is playing regular drums, not super quiet or anything...
If that was on July 9, 1977 it was Randy's final indoor show with the Eagles.

That's odd - I was sure I'd updated the date because the labelling on the clip is wrong. There's another clip from the same concert which has JD Souther telling the audience that it's Glenn's birthday, so it must have been 6th November 1976.
Here's that clip:

Both the elongated Witchy Woman and JD Souther-featuring BOML are from the Houston 77 bootleg.

I know I'm being nitpicky but setlist.fm lists two dates for Houston on the Hotel California tour - July 9th, 1977 and November 6th, 1976.
One of these was Glenn Frey's birthday, so I'm choosing to believe JD over whoever labelled the bootleg. By November 1977, the tour and ended and Randy had departed.
If you read through the comment on the BOML video, you'll see several comments about the date being wrong which is one of the things that lead me to check.

FINALLY a video from the HOTE concert section of Hotel California. Best performance on that disc IMO...
Can you imagine going to see them on this tour, HC being a big hit and big song at the time, and them OPENING with it?! So surprising!
Re: Eagles videos on YouTube or other sites
First of all, thanks for those Bernie interviews, UTW.
And I have the Houston, November 6, 1976 bootleg. I just checked it out and that Witchy Woman video is, indeed, from that show.

It would have truly blown my mind if I had been fortunate enough to see one of those Hotel California shows!
Re: Eagles videos on YouTube or other sites
The one that many bootleg sites sell has been mistakenly labelled "Houston 1977" for a long time. It is actually the Houston 1976 show. The mistake gets perpetuated because they are doing HC material, but it is indeed 1976. Bootleg sellers are not always the most reliable - they almost never are the ones that recorded the show.

He covers a lot of Eagles stuff and some I haven't heard/read before such as how Earlybird came to be written.
Part 1 is the 6/13/13 entry on

Part 2 is the 7/22/23 entry on

Thanks for finding this!

Wow - I got a chance to finish listening to Bernie's interviews with John Cowan that UTW posted. It was a great interview and well worth the time. I started off thinking that I'd just skip over the songs to save time, but NO! I listened to every single one of them from start to finish. I love these songs no matter how many times I hear them.
I also thought it may be a good idea to copy UTW's post over in Bernie's forum since it is a rare interview from him. Hope that's okay with everyone.

I've listened too. It was very interesting & informative. I enjoyed hearing about Bernie's life before the Eagles as well. Dreamer, I didn't skip any songs either. :grooving:
