Finished a press release for the non-profit I work with. We lost one of our mares this morning.
Sorry to hear that, CAinOH.
So sad about losing your mare CAinOH - it must have been very heartbreaking.
Thanks. Unfortunately, losing horses is part of what we do. We take in retired Thoroughbred broodmares and give them a home for the rest of their lives, with proper veterinarian, farrier, nutritional, and dental care. And, of course, lots of love. We're talking older mares, some not in the best of health when they come to us.
Thing is, this is our first passing in over two years, so while not surprising or shocking, it still upsets us and affects the herd dynamics. I'm just hoping this doesn't mean this is going to be a bad year for losses. Sometimes that's just the way it is.
So sad to hear that CAinOH. We lost our last horse just over a year ago, we had upwards of 11 at one time along with cows and other farm animals. Now all that is left is cats and dogs. I sure do miss riding my horses, we just never replaced any that passed.
CAinOH - So sorry to hear about your horse passing.
