Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Earlier this evening I thought I heard an Eagles song on the radio,,I was in another room and the volume wasn't up loud,,when I went in the room it wasn't the Eagles but when that song ended the next song they played was Take It To The Limit.
Is it me or does the beginning of this song make your heart skip a few beats?

FFL, sounds like that radio was reading your mind!

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Today I was in the Goodwill, when "Witchy Woman" suddenly began to play. I ran over to my husband, who hates that song, and said happily, "Listen to what they are playing!" He replied, "I know. I'm trying not to listen".:hilarious:

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Last night, for the second time since i've been working at the casino, I heard The Heat Is On. Music is constantly playing at work and I love it when they play an Eagles or solo song. I was actually a little jealous when my good friend and co-worker, Christie, told me that she heard Busy Being Fabulous playing at work last week and I missed it because I was on my break. I have actually stood in the employee entrance a few times when I was supposed to be on a break just to hear an Eagles or solo song that was playing.

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
In the supermarket. I HATE 'musac' as a rule but my main man and I were shopping late yesterday when I heard the sweet sound of Timothy singing LWKUA. We stopped shopping and started dancing right there in the aisle. YES, everyone who saw us thought we were crazy but we do that sort of thing every now and then. Keeps it interesting and I love doing wacky, spontaneous stuff. Aside from seeing them live, what's better than dancing to The Eagles at the supermarket?
-
Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
I must say, I'd never thought of dancing at the supermarket, C1231! I may have to try it!

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Let me paint the scene... a sand area at the local pool with about 50 campers and other random kids. Ages 4-12 all running around in swimsuits. Me gathering a dry unsanded spot to perch my butt... and across the speaker system Funk #49. That was a special treat. =)

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Yep - Yep - It very interesting what Eagles music can make us do!

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Cliffy, the home repair guy, fixed my car this weekend (no.. really.. he did!) but he had to disconnect the battery so all our presets were lost. My eldest, Jenni, was perturbed as we left to pick up Sarah from school so she set about resetting them (to her standards, I shall RE-reset them later) and came across Dirty Laundry while scanning the stations. I yelled "WAIT! STOP! GO BACK!" Since it was a warm day and I had my window down, the man walking down the road as we drove past stopped in his tracks and looked at us panicked. Jenni just gave me her signature "Chaa" and eye roll. I was pretty happy tho. I think the poor man figured out we weren't talking to him.

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Good one Ticky!
I was going to bed about 3am the other morning when I heard the strains of TIE coming from somewhere. On investigation it turned out to be Chris's ipod which he had 'forgotten' to switch off!!

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
..my husband is in the shower and I just walked into the bathroom and our local radio was playing "The one you love"....very strange...never heard them play anything like that before....but I LIKE it..

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Ooh I've got a good one!
This morning I got in the car to go to work. I only live 3 minutes away. The radio was off but I turned it on and actually thought to myself "Slim chance of hearing any Eagles". But I pushed the preset to the station I thought I'd have the best odds with. A familiar beautiful accoustic intro was playing and I grinned a huge grin as the live version of Seven Bridges Road played! Needless to say I drove as slow as I could and parked just as it was finishing. Made my day!

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Yesterday evening I heard on a radio 5 Eagles songs in a row!:partytime:
-
Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Wow, Koala! Eagles indulgence!
PM, your post made me smile, because I can imagine how that set you up for the day. I could do with a lift like that today. Seven Bridges Road is just so beautiful. It's got a real imagery to it. It's easy to imagine you're there.

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
And ever since Mike posted those beautiful pictures a few months ago--I really have no trouble imagining it. After a LONG day, I like to go to the tanning bed, turn on SBR and think about those pictures! Silly huh? Whatever it takes to relax a bit sometimes.

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Just listening to the radio and they are running a contest for trip to New York City---in the background of the commercial for it they are playing New York Minute.

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
On our 8 hour round trip journey to Bloomington this weekend, I know that at least 6-10 times when flipping radio channels there would be an Eagles song on. My husband and son would just shake their heads, but didn't say a word! I've trained them well.

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Yesterday I went in JCPenny long enough to make a payment approx. 10 min. as someone was in front of me. When I stepped up to the counter the beginning of BOS streamed over the intercom. Didn't get to hear the whole song but I did walk as slow as I could to the exit.

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Driving to see the family today, we heard "Rocky Mountain Way" - the song information on our car radio said it was Joe Walsh (duh!) with Barnstorm?? Can someone explain? Was that a group he was with? It was a good version...
Also - my 12 year old was at the pool with a friend and The Long Run came on and she wouldn't go in the water until the song was over so she could sing along...lol...
-
Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Barnstorm is the band Joe formed after he left James Gang

RMW isn't with Barnstorm though. It is on The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get (1975).
-
Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Smoker You Drink was released in 73, Not 75
-
Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Yes, OK. In Australia the song was not a hit until 1975. I don't know why it took so long. So What was 1975.
-
Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Well, actually the 1973 The Smoker You Drink, the Player You Get album that includes Rocky Mountain Way is Barnstorm. The 1972 Barnstorm album was recorded by Joe, Joe Vitale, and Kenny Passarelli. For The Smoker You Get album, they added Rocke Grace to the lineup and were billed as Joe Walsh and Barnstorm. All four men have writing credits on RMW so to me, it definitely qualifies as a Barnstorm recording.
-
Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
thanks, EL - I didn't know that...I didn't like it as much as the way he does it now, probably because I'm more familiar with it...but it was a good version...nice to hear him from a different era...

My copy of the album has 'JOE WALSH' written on it in large letters, regardless of the band's lineup.

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
I responded to you, FP, but then decided that this was getting so off-topic that I deleted my post and started another thread about it in Joe's forum.

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Walking through Parkdale Mall with my old friend and her kids (ages 4-15), we heard the guitar solo for Hotel California playing over the mall's loudspeakers. "That sounds familiar," the eldest girl said. "Yeah, it does," the next youngest said, a boy. "That's 'Hotel California' by the Eagles," I volunteered, happy that they at least kind of recognized it. "Oh yeah! We've played that song on Guitar Hero. That's why it sounded familiar," the eldest girl said. Off they went, missing my look of chagrin, lol.

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
I was in a department store today, Kohl's, and heard I Don't Want to Hear Anymore done by some other group! There was a male lead as well as male harmonies, but of course with department store music they never say who the artists are...so I will never know. The song was a decent version...it was just weird.

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
I wonder if that was Paul Carrack's version with Don and Tim harmonising. I wasn't aware it had been released yet.

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
This morning at the hairdresser, I have heard Waiting in the Weeds,
afterwards I was shopping and I heard POMPOY in a shop! :)

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
At the zoo for four hours, totally exhausted by the time we get back to the car. We start up and the first song on the radio is the opening lines or Tequila Sunrise, followed by Already Gone. Overall, pretty fun day at the zoo and the Eagles were the cherry on top. :)

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
I was at work earlier, a bit miserable because it was my first shift back and I was mourning the loss of any upcoming Eagles/Don shows, when what should come on the radio, but Life's Been Good! It's amazing how something like that can cheer you up so much

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Hubby and I were in the drugstore, printing out some of our pics from the trip-including the ones I took at the Glasgow concert :)-when what should come on the store radio but "The Heat is On"! I was overjoyed, but hubby didn't even notice.;)
I asked him tonight why he decided against attending the Glasgow concert and he said he didn't want to spend all that money to look at a screen and hear songs he had already heard in DC in November!:hilarious: I don't know why, but that struck me as so funny-I guess I must have a warped sense of humor!

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
There is a 99 cents store that I like to go to because they always play Heart of the Matter while I'm there. Today I not only got Heart of The Matter but Peaceful Easy Feeling too.

Wow AZ, maybe you can start making requests!

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
I heard Somebody on the radio on the way home from work! Totally brightened up my evening!
-
Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
I finally listened enough to other things being said and figured out that it is a radio station, so maybe I can put in requests. :partytime:

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
After the concert on Thursday we heard on the radio, on the way home,
a few live songs from the concert, the broadcast lasted about 1 hour!
Among others they played Peace Easy feeling, Take it Easy, No More Cloudy Days and of course Hotel California! :partytime:

Re: Hearing the Eagles or solo songs unexpectedly!
Koala, after the Glasgow concert, we were driving back to our hotel, and they played "Peaceful Easy Feeling" on the radio, the album version. I remember saying to hubby that Glenn's voice hasn't really changed all that much in over 30 years!
Funny hearing it on the radio, after I had just heard it done live!!
