Chris Hillman on the Flying Burrito Brothers...
Nice article about "Chris Hillman on the Flying Burrito Brothers, Gram Parsons and the End of the Sixties" from Rolling Stone:

Eagles reference!
Quote:
Neither Sweetheart nor Gilded Palace were huge sales successes, but their impact was immediate as country-rock took off in the Seventies. Hillman remembers Glenn Frey watching the Burritos obsessively at the Troubador, and puts it plainly: “When we handed the ball off to the Eagles, they ran it in for 10 touchdowns.”

Thanks, CA! Glenn said how he carefully observed other bands, noting what worked and what didn't. There's one example!
Interesting read from Chris. It's a wonder many artists even survived that era...

CA - Thanks for finding/posting that RS article. It was very interesting. Boy, those were crazy times in LA! Gram Parsons was like a lost soul - so sad that someone who was so talented was so destructive. Also, an interesting interview with Bernie. I loved Chris' s line about them(FBB) giving the Eagles the ball and they scored ten touchdowns. It is interesting how young Glenn was at the time but how focused he was in forming a band and not making the same mistakes the FBB and other bands did. A great read TY !
