What would be, say, Tim's five best Poco songs?
1. Keep On Tryin'
2. I Can See Everything
3. Restrain
4. Starin' at the Sky
5. From the Inside
This list could change at any moment. Poco was when I first fell in love with Timothy. Love all those songs. Great songs and they bring back so many memories.
Thanks. I've made a playlist of these songs and will listen to it repeatedly. i'd like to compare the quality of Tim's work on his last two solo albums to his work in Poco.
I'm not super-familiar with Poco, but these stand out to me.
1. Rose of Cimarron (co-lead; I love Timothy's high vocals towards the end)
2. Keep On Tryin'
3. Restrain
4. Here We Go Again
5. Bitter Blue
Honorable mention goes to You Better Think Twice for his bass work.
AT - Rose of Cimarron #1 for sure. Rusty Young wrote it and Paul Cotton sings part of it, but it's a Timothy fan fave! The high part Delilah refers to is at 3:15

Very cool to seeing them play it almost 40 years later. This is the first time Timothy had played it with Poco since the '70s - I love how happy Richie Furay looks at the beginning. Paul sings the high part here.

I also like Good Feelin' to Know - I believe it is the song Timothy is singing in the yellow fringe jacket in the HoTE documentary (Someone correct me if I'm wrong) Timothy's bass is so heavy, good thing he has improved his posture! He's about 24 in this video...- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYuHvvBd5H0
I've heard or read that Timothy took over lead vocals for Good Feeling To Know after Richie left. i'm sorry I can't remember the HOTE clip.
Rose Of Cimarron is my favourite Poco song although I'm not keen on the long version's orchestral ending.
Top 5 Schmit Pocosongs:
1: Skatin'
2: Stay (Night Until Noon)
3: Me And You
4: Here We Go Again
5: Restrain
Tim's two best regarded Poco songs, as far as I know, are Keep On Tryin, which the Eagles did a couple of times and I Can See Everything but neither do much for me. I don't think any Poco tracks are strong enough to make an Eagles set list. I loved Tim's, live but so far unreleased, solo cover of Richie's Poco track, What Am I Gonna Do.
Regarding Tim's Poco songs, I think Rose of Cimarron is of particular interest if you're a fan of the Desperado album, as there is some thematic overlap - Rose Dunn's brothers shot and killed George 'Bittercreek' Newcomb, who had been Rose's boyfriend.
Thanks for all the comments here. I'm listening to Tim's Poco stuff on Spotify using a playlist. I wish to listen more before I make further comments.
Okay - here's my list ...
1. Rose of Cimarron
2. Here We Go Again
3. Keep on Tryin'
4. From the Inside
5. I Can See Everything
Yeah - I always joked that it's too bad that Rose of Cimarron wasn't an Eagles song ... it would have been a perfect fit for Desperado. It's my very favorite Poco song by far.
