Re: Celebration of Eagles Hotness
Oh, you don't download anything. Sites like Photobucket and Flickr are just websites. You upload a copy of your picture to them and they store it and provide a URL or IMG code to the picture. They are set up to store such things, whereas this site is not. Attachments take up storage space in the database and can make it slower to use. I use Photobucket and it's free, which suits me just fine. All of them are trying to be more 'social' like Instagram, which is annoying, but they still work for what I need.
Re: Celebration of Eagles Hotness
Thanks for that explanation VA. It seems like there are quite a few members who are having trouble posting photos, so I'm going to go off topic here a bit more to try to clarify things a little further. We want folks to feel free to post photos of the guys, so please let us know if you need help. It's a little confusing at first, but not too hard once you get the hang of it ...
The key to successfully posting photos on The Border is to post the URL of the image and surround it with image tags. (Image "tags" are simply coding that helps the site recognize the URL as an image). You can either do this manually or by using an image-hosting site as VA explained, which automatically inserts the URL and coding for you. Since the latter is the easiest, I'll go through that first.
Use an Image-hosting site:
- Upload photos you want to post to an image-hosting site such as Photobucket or Flickr.
- Copy the full URL for the image from the image-hosting site.
- Open a "Reply" window for the appropriate thread on The Border and paste the URL code directly into the window.
- Click "Submit Reply" and your photo should appear in your post.
Insert the URL manually:
- Copy the full URL for the image you want to post from the site where it is located.
Note: Don't post images directly from another fan website. This is known as hotlinking. However, you can hotlink from any of the related EaglesOnlineCentral sites since they are sister sites to The Border.
- Open a "Reply" window for the appropriate thread on The Border and paste or manually type the URL into the window using one of the following methods:
- Click the "Image" icon at the top of the window (located on the second row next to the "Quote" icon).
- Paste the URL into the box that opens.
- Click OK and the URL code will be pasted into the window.
- Paste the URL for the image directly into the window.
- Manually type the tags [img] immediately before the URL and [/img] immediately after it, ensuring that you do not have any spaces.
Example: [img]URL[/img] is correct; [img] URL [/img] is incorrect
- Click "Submit Reply" and your photo should appear in your post.
Just keep in mind that web coding is very sensitive so the image will not display if the coding is not exactly as it should be.
So, hope this helps you post your photos on the board. If you are still having problems, you can consult the Photo Posting Guidelines, post a question here, or PM me. I'll be glad to try to explain things further.
Re: Celebration of Eagles Hotness
Okay - now for a demonstration of my previous post, I am going to post photos using all of the methods that I described. (Hey - around here, we'll use any excuse to post pictures! ). These are to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the HFO album hitting #1 on the Billboard chart ...

Of course, no matter the method, the end result is hot, sexy, and gorgeous photos of our guys! :partytime:
