Timothy Collaborations
There was some discussion about Crosby, Stills and Nash down in the Cheap Talk and Wine threads, which led me to this, which is fascinating -
http://www.allmusic.com/artist/timot...604940/credits -
everything that Timothy has been credited on. Keep in mind that many of these are re-issues, but still, so cool. We also know that he was not credited on Twisted Sister and Poison, haha!! Frankly I think this deserves it's own thread called "Timothy Collaborations" or similar so we could discuss it more and maybe listen to some of these random songs we have never heard and see if we can hear his voice. I don't know how to start a new thread, and, I would want to make sure there is interest within the TBS crowd.

If you go back to the main page of the TBS forum, underneath where it says 'let it ride with TBS' you will see a button called New Thread. If you like I will start it for you or one of the other Tim fans can start it. Or just start it yourself if you wish!

As requested the new thread has been started! :)

Re: Timothy Collaborations
Cool, thank you TimFan and FP!
I listened to the recorded version of Toto's I Won't Hold You Back Now, and you can totally hear him in the chorus. I think we have a live concert version in here somewhere, but you can hear him more in the recorded version.
This is a great article on this topic that I'm sure was posted a while back. I love a knowledgeable interviewer.

Thsnks for posting ! Very cool intresting article,

Re: Timothy Collaborations
he's done backing vocals on so many songs...we should be able to have a lot of fun with this thread!!!
-
Re: Timothy Collaborations
The one I am most familiar with is Rikki Don't Lose That Number by Steely Dan (he may have done more but I am sure about this one). Compare his backing vocal with Michael McDonald's on Peg by the same band which is very distinctive & instantly recognisable. I wouldn't say that about Tim on this song.
There is also Glenn's Some Kind Of Blue & again it isn't that easy to hear Tim in it.

I LOVE that song

Re: Timothy Collaborations
Love TBS on this collaboration with the Beach Boys and this clip shows him in headphones (he always looks gorgeous in headphones). Catch the smile at 2.30! Unfortunately the sound quality isn’t that good although his vocal is absolutely perfect on the finished song and swells with emotion.

Thought the interviewer was a bit anorak-y. And why is it when they finally spell TBS's name right, they almost always get Glenn's wrong?

Re: Timothy Collaborations
I love listening to his version of Caroline No. Every time I learn he's been a backup vocalist on a song, I always have to immediately go listen to it again. Honestly, his voice is so pure and rich, it gives me the chills sometimes. He could sing the instructions to using my camera and I'd melt.
Cannot imagine what it must feel like to have a voice like his. He's a rare, fine wine, Timothy is.

Re: Timothy Collaborations
Totally agree LTF!!
Oh my gosh, I just noticed from that list Stacey Q! Do you remember "Two of Hearts"? That was a huge song when I was in high school! Will have to check out the ones that TBS is on. That is some serious 80s girl pop like Expose, the Cover Girls, and Shannon. Love it! Our boy is extremely versatile. Oh yes.

Thanks so much for posting that MC. I didn't know he hung out with David Cassidy! That was a great interview. Notice he didn't name Randy as the member of Poco he replaced. I just heard I Can See Everything on my I-pod today. I love that song!
-
Re: Timothy Collaborations
Yeah, too funny, "the guy I replaced." He probably gets tired of mentioning Randy in ALL of his interviews re: Poco AND the Eagles! And, I love those throwaway comments like, "Oh yeah, I used to hang out with David Cassidy. I forgot about him....haven't seen him for a while." What a life. I REALLY hope Timothy writes an autobiography. I think his career is just fascinating. I hope all our guys write autobiographies. Timothy has a great, unique voice, but so do millions of professional singers. I think the reason he sings on so many others' songs and albums is that people just like him, mainly because he is a babe, and I'm being serious. Those who have seen him on stage love him and want him to succeed, and gave him work when he needed it in the 80s and 90s. And his connections with his record labels helped, but still...he is quite the specimen.

Re: Timothy Collaborations
Tim’s version of Caroline No gives me goosebumps too.
Downloaded from You Tube onto my PC so available as required.

Re: Timothy Collaborations
Was told about Let It Be Me when I joined the Border but on first listen thought it was too sappy. Now I love the combination of their voices and find myself moved. TBS is eradicating the natural cynic within.

Re: Timothy Collaborations
we had Parent Teacher Conferences Thursday night. The weather was horrible and as a result I had 3 parents in 3.5 hours. I listened to a lot of Timmy songs.
-
Re: Timothy Collaborations
I sat out several years ago to try to collect everything on this list, anything Timothy has been on--- no easy task but I've got quite the vinyl collection of stuff from the list tho. It's fun going to album shows and hunting these things down. I'm glad I've always loved to read liner notes from way back when, I had a head start before I ever had an actual list to go from.

Re: Timothy Collaborations
If you are a David Pack/Ambrosia fan He and Timothy sound great singing Where We Started From

Re: Timothy Collaborations
Here's another favorite of mine. For me, I will always think of Take It To The Limit as a Randy song. This version is especially delicious :).

Re: Timothy Collaborations
Wow. :inlove: Here's one I've never seen before. OMG , is he gorgeous in this video, but I'm not sure if it's part of a tv show or a soap. I bet Timothy wondered what on earth the guy at the table was doing.

Wow.

I had already seen that video and I love it. It’s from an episode of an ‘80s sitcom. Timothy appeared on two episodes as a musical guest and on another one in a very small role.
I agree that he’s gorgeous in the video! His voice is so sweet!

agreed! I hadn't seen that video before and it's nice to see that he didn't look bad all of the '80s:razz:

Re: Timothy Collaborations
Thank you for finding that, LTF. I don't remember ever seeing that before either. He does look gorgeous there, even with the mullet.

You have to be pretty gorgeous to carry off that mullet. Not many people could. He looks so sweet. Thanks for posting, LTF. Is there a video of his other performance?

Re: Timothy Collaborations
Is it bad form for me to say that that show looks awesomely AWFUL??!!:hilarious: Yeah, what IS that guy at the table doing? Why is he fanning himself? Timothy's hotness? We must find the full episode, and the other two episodes! And how can you cut away from Timothy when he's singing?? His singing looks and sounds live, but you never know. Someone must know the name of that show...I'll try to follow up on the youtube post - they guy from Yes posted the first comment on there.

Re: Timothy Collaborations
It was a very 80's video. I got quite a laugh out of the hairdo's of the 2 ladies sitting at the bar in the first minute or so. I was never able to get my hair to stick straight up like that :hilarious:
And being a child of the 80's, might I add that the mullet that Timothy is rocking is awesome! Although I only think that because he makes it look so good!

I've seen this video but not in such excellent quality. Thank you so much, LTF!

Re: Timothy Collaborations
Tim looks great even if it was the 80's!
Yeah, the guy fanning himself? I think he's gonna be sick any minute!

Re: Timothy Collaborations
Timothy looks gorgeous even with a mullet!! :inlove:

Re: Timothy Collaborations
I think he is adorable in that mullet.
-
Re: Timothy Collaborations
With a face like that, he can pull off any hairdo!

Didn't he also sing on another Toto song? Was it Africa? I agree - you can totally hear him on I Won't Hold You Back Now - Love it!
