This is great! Thank you, Shun. You know, I like Deacon more each time I see him. His singing gets better and better, and he has such a nice way about him. Go Deacon!
Re: An Evening with the Eagles @ Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, MI - October 27, 2
This is nice, from the first review Shun linked:
"The combined impact of Gill and Frey brought freshness to the concert that insured it was neither maudlin tribute nor cash-in nostalgia. It felt nothing less than authentic -- precise, as is Eagles’ trademark, and nothing but crowd-pleasing in its array of enduring hits."
ETA and from the Detroit Free Press:
"There’s no replacing Frey, of course, and all involved seem wise enough to know that: Gill and Deacon Frey were tastefully integrated into the proceedings, coming off not as clunky stand-ins but as respectful conduits for songs indelibly etched in the collective memory."

Great that it was not a "maudlin tribute"? Why are so many people so afraid of showing/seeig a bit of emotion these days? :headscratch: I'm not bashing the band, I just don't understand some reviewers.
Re: An Evening with the Eagles @ Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, MI - October 27, 2
The first definitions I get for maudlin is: "self-pityingly or tearfully sentimental, often through drunkenness" and "drunk enough to be emotionally silly; weakly and effusively sentimental."
Sounds to me like this reviewer was trying to say that the on-stage tributes, talking about, photos and love showed to Glenn were joyful and celebratory in spirit rather than depressing or sad. It sounds to me like there was much emotion displayed.

I don't know what exactly the writer meant with the word. Your interpretation could be correct. Seemed to me that sentimentality would have been beneath the reviewer. Personally I don't think there should be any rules about how band members should remember their brother. If it's joyful, fine, if it's teary-eyed - equally fine. I dunno, it just irritates me when I feel that someone mentions sentimentality like it's a disease, but I won't rave about this any further and ruin what is supposed to be a happy thread. I may have overreacted. Wouldn't be the first time.

Thank you for those article links Shun.
Some video from last night’s show.
Seven Bridges Road (as before Vince adds a 3rd part to what was always a 2-part harmony of Don and Timothy)

Just quickly, I agree. If some effort had been made at some point to shed a few tears, I would be slightly more accepting of it all. But I guess showing sentiment is regarded as 'unprofessional'.

Witchy Woman (unfortunately not the best video - I really wish we could see who is playing which guitar part)

Ok I found a better Witchy Woman though the cool intro is missing. Joe has worked up a new guitar solo (or is it the same as the HOTE one?)
