I grew up watching and listening to The Monkees and a death always hurts more when it's a face you recognize. RIP Michael.
RIP Michael. I watched the Monkees on TV when they first started He wrote a song "Different Drum" which became a hit for Linda Ronstadt. He had a successful singing and song writing career and his son "Joanne" was a top 40 hit. He played different 12 string guitars in his solo career. He was also an executive producer of the film "Repo Man"(1984). He won the first Grammy given for "Video of the Year" in 1981. He was so much more than just a "Monkee" His Mother was the inventor of "liquid paper" commonly called "white out"
A little trivia
Rock musician Joe Walsh has paid $4,500,000 for a three-bedroom, 2,308-square-foot house in the Beverly Hills, Calif. post office that once was owned by onetime Monkees frontman Mike Nesmith. Records show that Nesmith sold the home in 1995 for $1,150,000 to the family who recently sold it to Walsh.
So sorry about Mike/s passing. I loved The Monkees when I was a youngster. My heart goes out to Mike's family, friends, and fans.
R.I.P. Mike Nesmith
I was - and still am - a HUGE Monkees fan. So sad to hear of his passing.
Here's one of his songs that meant a lot to my family when we were living apart (my parents were living in Saudi Arabia and my sisters and I were living in the United States):
