Re: Joe Videos on YouTube and other video sites
Haven't seen this interview with Joe and Paul Reed Smith talking about playing styles and his guitars.
Good interview if your a guitar player.. They talk about fretboard wood and pickup adjustments among other things.

Thank you! I hadn't seen that.
I was glad to see Joe handle the Don Felder questions like a total pro. He didn't fall into the trap of discussing what we already know (ie Felder kept wanting more and more without legitimate reason and could no longer handle being second fiddle and it got him fired). He also didn't try to stop the conversation and say "I can't go there". He just said he had fun doing the solos and that he was brilliant at what he played on Hotel California. Done!
I thought the question about favorite guitar players was fun and I really liked the fact he got geeky on the guitar stuff.
Re: Joe Videos on YouTube and other video sites
Joe sometimes surprises people with his knowledge He's got a great understanding of how to make music and his understanding of his gear is a lost art among a lot of players now. I think a lot of his electrical understanding comes from being a ham for so long If you've ever seen the Gibson series videos with him string and setting up a Les Paul you can see he's done it a lot
As far as Don Felder goes, I don't recall ever hearing Joe really trash Don personally. He's usually very non confrontal He seems to respect players ability regardless of what he thinks personally about them. He has always said he studies other guitar players all the time trying to figure out how they play and get the sounds they do. He's still trying to figure out Terry from Chicago and how he made the sounds he got from his guitar.
People just hear how Joe speaks and sometimes don't realize how smart he really is He's was always reading Had to laugh when he said he's probably one of the few men that actually reads Playboy for the articles.
As long as he's been in the business he's a true historian and treasure and many other players recognize that too.
Re: Joe Videos on YouTube and other video sites
I agree with everything said, Austin and Scamp. Joe is a class act. He just gave Felder a textbook demonstration for responding to questions about your bandmates.
Re: Joe Videos on YouTube and other video sites
Couldn't of said it better Dreamer, Scamp and Walshfan88

On the same PRS Guitars YouTube channel, Paul Reed Smith is interviewing Eric Johnson, but Joe Walsh appears as a special guest for a couple of minutes and talks to Eric.
However with the sequence date order, Joe's video should've been posted first on Oct 7th and then Eric's on Oct 14th.
You'll see why when Joe leaves and then Eric talks to Paul afterwards with briefly mentioning the recording process of solos in 'Hotel California'.

On a side note, Eric Johnson and Don Henley have a mutual connection with Christopher Cross in that they are both appear as guest musicians on his 1979 self-titled debut album.

Thanks for sharing Scamp. Dang! No wonder this band has such a legacy - they've been around since 1914 ... makes the Stones look like mere babies. :hilarious:
