Here is Desperado.

"Take The Devil" is a song written and sung by Meisner. Leadon's guitar solos really shine.
Umm, it's Glenn on lead guitar, isn't it?
Earlybird is really a showcase for Leadon who sings lead as well as plays banjo and electric guitar.
Glenn on electric.
"Tryin'" is another song by Meisner, who takes on lead vocals. Once again, it is a showcase for Leadon's guitar wizardry, but it's not the strongest of tracks.
Bernie plays the rhythm guitar part that starts the song. The rest is Glenn.
For some reason I missed the part where you said that you were the writer, so there were some harsh words in my second post. I edited it since I don't wish to offend you.I confess that I'm a Glenn fan, so such errors are all I see.
Yes! Yes it is...
Glenn was never given proper props for his guitar ability. "Oh Felder must have played that. Oh Leadon must have played that. Oh Walsh must have played that.". Sometimes it's almost like I feel they are saying "Oh Glenn *couldn't* have played that". Glenn was a jack of all trades. Great singer, great frontman with charisma, great bandleader, great lyricist/arranger, great guitarist, etc.
As for Earlybird, Glenn is doing all the electric guitar stuff including slide guitar (did them live as well), but I'm not sure who plays the acoustic rhythm guitar. I've always assumed it's Bernie.
Bernie tended to play the guitar parts on Randy's songs that Randy came up with when he wrote the songs. Bernie told me that on his website when he answered questions. In Tryin' it's the main rhythm guitar, on Take The Devil (and Certain Kind Of Fool) it's the acoustic. Whereas Glenn thought of something else to play. Usually his "rhythm" part on Randy's songs wasn't a "rhythm" part as such.Glenn played lead on all the Randy songs as well as Timothy's song.
A rather meaningless detail: Glenn didn't play the keyboard part in Outlaw Man. It was played by a non-member, don't remember whi. (Jim Ed Norman?)
Yes, it was Jim Ed Norman. Don't know why Glenn didn't play it on the record as he did in concert once Felder joined the band.
Excellent articles Desperado 73. I remember seeing Glenn and JD when they first started and Don when he plaid at the Whiskey. Used to go a lot to Hollywood back in those days.
Glenn was a very underrated guitar player. Sure he may not have been a Bernie but he could hold his own. I remember hearing Joe talking about Glenn's playing in in interview years ago. He said Glenn never really got the recognization he deserved.
Waiting for more. More, we need more. LOL
It sure would be interesting to see that interview where Joe talks about Glenn's guitar playing! The fact that you saw those guys when they were just starting is just...WOW!

Hi there, Desperado73! Welcome! I didn't want to discourage you, but since you said you wanted to be accurate, please fact check your Glenn backstory. Glenn met JD after arriving in California.

Also, Jackson and JD encouraged Gefffen to Glenn, there was no Eagles at that point. Geffen liked Glenn, but thought he should form a band, and would listen to whatever group he brought him.
Here is 'On the Border'

Thanks for posting these reviews Desperado73. Unfortunately, I have a lot going on in my life right now so I haven't had time to read any of them. I will eventually get around to it though. BTW - if you go to our hub site, EaglesOnlineCentral, you may find a lot of help with some of the album reviews. Here is the link to the Discography page:

Also, I have updated/ made corrections to the first few articles based on the feedback I have received on this thread.
Nice to see the corrections made. I didn't read your revirws after Desperado, because it looked like the Frey guitar solos were always going to be Leadon solos. I'm glad to stand corrected now and I will read the rest of them!
