Thank you for the verification DJ. I still think he looks young for 23 but then looking young is how he got the name "Babyface."

The "surprised" photo is from Randy's appearance on the Merv Griffin show in August 1982. Just putting this out to the Universe again: we sure would like to see the video of Randy's performance on this show! He did "Playing in the Deep End."
I'm dating myself (again) but IIRC, for musical guests Merv's "interview" with them usually consisted of him standing alongside the singer, exchanging a few pleasantries, then having the singer introduce the band and/or the next song.
But apparently this particular episode of Merv was all musical guests, including I believe Natalie Cole and Karla Bonoff. So who knows if the usual format held.

According to that Reelin in the Years website, the interview lasted 2:42 minutes, so you're probably right about the usual format. I sure hope they release that to another company or allow it in a DVD somewhere! Randy also performed "Never Been in Love."

Unfortunately the Reelin in the Years Production Co. holds the rights to this Randy's video clip (maybe the whole episode, too). Their intent is to license it out to documentary makers, etc. They have made it clear it is not available to fans or the general public.
