Re: What's Happening In Your Life?
Hope you hear from Amazon soon, Elle.
My college has managed to stay open for four weeks now, so I believe my last semester should remain fully in person. I managed to find an internship working with my college, so I will now graduate with my Bachelor’s in May instead of July! I'm now contemplating about where to go and what to do for my post grad studies. I have a very solid GPA (3.69, should be a 3.73, if I make all As this semester), with a well rounded CV, so I hope to get some funding for my master's degree.
In other news, I have been fighting a nasty tooth infection for the past month. It spread into my face. Having a tooth pulled and 3 rounds of antibiotics hasn't killed it yet. Not to mention stupid insurance and dentists who won't take it. If a very kind and caring professor of mine hadn't stepped up and graciously told me to get it taken care of no matter what the cost, I'd be in agony until April. I've got to call the dentist in the morning to see about pulling another tooth that is still hurting. This infection has interfered with my studies so much.
I go back Wednesday for a check up on my left foot. It's gotten allot stronger, but it's still not as strong as it should be. We'll discuss the next course of action.

Re: What's Happening In Your Life?
Sorry to hear about your dental problems, AG. I do hope you can get some kind of help with that. I've had infections like that before and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

Although, sometimes I question my own decision making and think, boy I sure am not the brightest spark plug in the bunch. I went on a bike ride up a massive hill yesterday and now my quad muscles are on fire. And I'm trying to reset my internal clock to get use to working night shift. So, while my body is screaming at me right now to go to sleep, I have to keep it awake. But its worth it, the full time night shift pays waay more than the part time day that they also offered me.

Re: What's Happening In Your Life?
AG95: good luck with your internship. One factor that weighed in my decision for grad school was that it would be out of state, for the experience of living somewhere else. The drawback unfortunately is that it can be pretty costly. Hopefully your tooth infection goes away soon.

Re: What's Happening In Your Life?
So my first day at Amazon was crazy. First, the boss of my team barked at me because I had a black backpack. No one told me about the clear bag policy! (Thankfully I asked my roommate and she said i could use her clear tote that she had). Then the lady that was supposed to be the one showing me around couldn't that day because apparently Wednesdays are very very busy there. She was really nice and when she would see me, she'd apologize for not showing me around. And although the two guys that were showing me around are real nice guys, they just walk real real fast. I told them about my cerebral palsy and they tried their hardest to help make it easier for me. After walking the entire length of the complex (which is the size of two football fields!), we went to lunch. i ate on a different floor and ended up loosing track of the two guys. But it worked out in the end because they guys told the main supervisor that I would be better suited to just stay in one area. So now I just clean the 3rd floor break room, which is the size of a standard hospital cafeteria, and that's not that bad.
Today is day 2, and even though I'll be cleaning restrooms today, its going to be a good day. I'm hoping.

Re: What's Happening In Your Life?
Well, I think my tooth infection might finally be gone after the dentist decided to pull 3 teeth. It sucks to lose them, but I needed the relief.
Somehow, I managed to sprained my left ankle and possibly my right knee within a week of each other. I have two orthopedic appointments within the next 2 weeks for both. I'm hobbling around with the aid of a crutch and a walking boot. I'm hopeful that I'll be in better shape next weekend as my uncle and I have tickets to racing event in Florida on Saturday.
On the school front, I still haven't made a decision yet. Because my Bachelor’s degree is a dual degree, I've been exposed to two different fields that I equally love. It's extremely hard to choose between them. I might take fall 2021 off to avoid making a rushed decision.

Re: What's Happening In Your Life?
I managed to do something really stupid to my shoulder. Irritated an old injury last night trying to help my husband unhook a car hauler from the back of our truck. Loud pop and then a lot of pain. It was hurting a lot today, but the house needed cleaning so that's what I did. By the time I was done it hurt to move my right arm at all. Went to the doctor at the insistence of several family members. Diagnosis: I probably did some damage to the rotator cuff. He said he couldn't tell for sure because of the inflammation and the muscles spasming, but that would be his most likely diagnosis. It's going to be in a sling for 2 weeks and he is referring me to an orthopedist. This is going to be interesting. I know me. I'm not going to take it easy for two weeks. If I see something that needs doing I'm going to do it.

Thanks, GA. Yeah, it's better now. I have been on restroom detail for the last week or so. But I hear they change up everyone's positions every three weeks, so we shall see what next week brings. And I do actually enjoy the job, even if it is sweeping up trash and scrubbing toilets. now I just hope to be there long term.

That’s great, LT! My state opened up eligibility to my age group a couple of weeks ago. My name is on a list but I’m expecting a long wait before I finally get jabbed.

Re: What's Happening In Your Life?
Awesome news, LT!
I just got my 2nd Moderna yesterday and I'm breathing easier. Still plan on being a hermit for the forseeable future but a less frantic hermit. :hilarious:

When my county finally opened up for my age group, everything began to happen very quickly, and now we are open to everyone over 16. So maybe this will happen for you in a similar way. I will keep a good thought for you, D! :-)

Great news! Probably very wise to use caution for awhile. I'm glad you are watching out for yourself, A. :-) I plan to do the same.

Re: What's Happening In Your Life?
For the first time in over a year, I'm getting together with one of my best friends, Debby!! We are both fully vaccinated (she works in a hospital), the restaurant,/bar we are going to taking precautions and we'll be outside on the patio, so I feel good about going. I'm also hoping some of the other friends we hang out with will be there, too.
It's a beautiful 80-degree day here in Southern California, so it's perfect!

Congrats MJ. So nice to meet with people again huh?? So looking forward to that myself. I hope you have a great time.

Re: What's Happening In Your Life?
So last week, my whole right hand and wrist started to go numb and tingly. I thought that it was associated with the vertigo and nausea that I had that Tuesday. I started to panic, thinking it was maybe due to the chemicals that I have to be around at work. But no, apparently I have carpal tunnel syndrome. So now after seeing the doctor, I have to wear a splint on my wrist. Indefinitely. Yay me. :(

Elle81 - So sorry to hear you have C.T. I was diagnosed many years ago with it. I was supposed the have surgery last March than covid hit. It can be very, very painful ! The brace should start helping. Feel better.
Martha - Very cool that you were able to get together with your best friend. Hopefully this will start happening for everyone soon.

Thanks. I hope the tingling and numbness go away soon. It feels like I have frostbite and that is freaking me out a bit.

Re: What's Happening In Your Life?
I went to the eye doctor today for the first time in 2 years (I had to cancel my appointment last year because of COVID). It was time to get my eyes read and get some new contacts. Found out I have a tear in my retina in my right eye. So I have to have surgery on my right eye on Monday.
I knew something was wrong when I couldn’t see out of my right eye when I have either my glasses on or my contacts in. I can see out of it, but I knew something wasn’t right when it seem like my vision was a little blur in my right eye. I couldn’t see nothing as I was reading the eye chart (or computer chart) when I covered my left eye. It just started to happen for a month or two ago.
I’ll be looking like a pirate with a patch on my eye for a week or so. Lol I have to take off of work for 2 weeks.

Re: What's Happening In Your Life?
Good Luck with your surgery, shun! hope everything goes well.

Best wishes for your eye surgery, Shun!

KW, Thanks for watching!! I really was nervous. Plus, my cheek was swollen because of a toothache. I might have my first wisdom tooth coming in. Imagine that! 65 years old and finally getting wisdom teeth. And I lost video on my end half way through, so I couldn't see myself. Thankfully, I didn't do anything too embarrassing.
But it was great fun!
