    Re: Linda Ronstadt

Garth could be there for Linda.

He was just on Kelly Clarkson's new show talking about how much he loves James Taylor's music so I think it's a fair bet he's at least a big fan of that kind of...
  2. The appeal of rock and pop vs other genres

To continue a train of thought started in the Hotel California thread, here's a post from Delilah I wanted to respond to. Her original post is on page 28, post number 279.

    I categorize genres...

    Re: Eagles' Albums Survivor

Interesting stats, to say the least.

I would love to know more about the people they got their data from and their demographics. For example: were these people who listened to the songs regularly...

Re: Celebration of "Hotel California" Album!

As far as the "just because a lot of people endorse something doesn't mean it's actually good" comment - you determining it that way is, actually, also subjective. So there's that!:rofl:And I...

Re: Celebration of "Hotel California" Album!

Part for part, the best album the Eagles ever made, objectively and subjectively speaking. Their true concept album masterpiece IMO. Rock n' roll music has a much broader audience than country music...

    Re: Eagles' Albums Survivor

They definitely changed their sound over their years and when you put them all together they cast a wide net.

I always admired David Bowie, who not only changed his sound for every album, but...

    Re: Eagles' Albums Survivor

That's interesting to me because I feel like the more "city like" theme of HC was more relatable to most than Desperado. Maybe not rockstar excess, but more of a city urban life. Depends on where...

    Re: Eagles' Albums Survivor

    To elaborate on Hotel California...

To me HC was a more well thought out and more relatable concept album to a wider range of people. More urban. I don't get into the picture like storytelling...

    Re: Eagles' Albums Survivor

    Umm, well, LOL.

I won't go that far, but it's definitely not a good album to me. Keeping in mind my tastes, it does the least for me personally.

    Re: Eagles' Albums Survivor

This isn't even close. Literally my most favorite Eagles album against my least favorite Eagles album. I had saved voting against Desperado until later because I'd be wasting a vote.

    But to say...

Re: eagles 1980 lying eyes footage

That's fair, Soda. In the collecting world it is a huge deal. But I think in the bigger picture, it doesn't matter quite as much. Still, it's a fair point and I realize that. But I don't like when...

Re: Pete Townshend....ouch this is bad

NMB - In an ideal world I'd love to believe it too. But it seems awfully fishy to me. It seems like a convenient out for him and his legal team. A good lawyer can get you out of what seems a lot. To...

Re: Pete Townshend....ouch this is bad

You would think he would want to distance himself from that "information". So much for PTSD!

Personally, I think you can do "research" on that kind of thing without downloading videos and photos...

    Re: Eagles' Albums Survivor

This is a no brainer for me. The other 3 albums are all stronger IMO. Keep in mind I like the later Eagles.

That said I vote for Desperado.

Re: Pete Townshend....ouch this is bad

To expand on the Pete/Joe guitar thing.

Pete was struggling to find the sound in the studio for what became the "Who's Next" album. You know, the album that had the CSI theme song on it.

Re: Pete Townshend....ouch this is bad

Pete Townsend is such a prick.

Here's the thing - I really love his rhythm guitar style, but literally after the 70s he's been a spoil sport. Then there is the child pornography thing that he got...

Re: Eagles Guitars (and a whole lotta info!)

    Thanks all.

Rest assured, I'm working on it.

My dad just had spinal fusion surgery, I rolled my ankle trying to help him out of a chair with my mom, and so I've been a little preoccupied. By...

    Re: Eagles' Albums Survivor

I hope you meant TJ for Teenage Jail (which I think maybe you did, but I don't know lol).

Those Shoes is probably their most underrated song at this point. Hearing it on the HOTE tour was a memory...
