  1. Re: For Those Saying Glenn Frey is Necessary to the Eagles; no Glenn, no legit Eagles

It's so funny that you mentioned Motown. After I posted that, I thought about how Motown has that same revolving door in groups. I looked up the Temptations. I think they've had like 24 members!!!!

  2. Re: What songs would you have liked to see the Eagles cover

Wasn't there even a rumour that Glenn had wanted to do an Eagles album of covers from influences?
  3. Re: What songs would you have liked to see the Eagles cover

The bad thing about covers, especially from a group who is well known for writing their own stuff, is that often the covers don't sound right.
I think Sea Cruise sounds atrocious. It is totally not...
  4. Re: For Those Saying Glenn Frey is Necessary to the Eagles; no Glenn, no legit Eagles

And that's really the divide isn't it. People who feel like the songs and experience are more important, and people who think the person singing them is more important.

I will say that in some...
  5. Re: What songs would you have liked to see the Eagles cover

What songs have they been covering on tour?
  6. Re: Eagles Song Survivor: Non-Studio Album Songs

I vote for Life's Been Good
  7. Re: Eagles Song Survivor: Non-Studio Album Songs

    I honestly think it's Tim's best lead.
  8. Re: They write me letters......the variations

I meant no offense or anything by that. I was just going through concerts and figured I would be complete with what I had.
  9. They write me letters......the variations

In the survivor thread there was a brief mention of one of Joe's alternate lines in Life's Been Good..so I took a few minutes listen through several different versions...and below are a few of the...
  10. Re: Eagles Song Survivor: Non-Studio Album Songs

It's not for this thread, but i'd be interested to see how many variations of that line Joe's used over the years. It is a great line.....but not great enough to save the song for me in this...

Re: Favorite Versions of Eagles LP songs

I think Glenn sounds much better singing lower, like he does from HFO forward.

Re: Favorite Versions of Eagles LP songs

Yes, what a shame. in fact, most of the Second Night should have been THE video. Talk about a much better TV special.
Also, Best of My Love from Night 2....I think it must have been the last song...
  13. Re: Eagles Song Survivor: Non-Studio Album Songs

    Life's Been Good
  14. Re: Eagles Song Survivor: Non-Studio Album Songs

Life's Been Good gets my vote. Yes it's good, it's a concert staple, but it's not an Eagles song and to be honest, I am sorta tired of it, plus FNY is "Already Gone' :)
  15. Re: Eagles Song Survivor: Non-Studio Album Songs

My vote is for Funky New Year. This was a bad idea, and probably done as more of a joke, just to get a Holiday B-side for Please Come Home For Christmas.

  17. Re: The last great Frey and Henley co-write

I was doing a bit of research on songwriting, and there are several ways to determine songwriting splits, and such, but nothing "legal" as far as I could find about name order, so that would be a...
  18. Re: The last great Frey and Henley co-write

Well, I think it's been stated a few times that it appears that the Henley-Frey naming was based on something they decided among themselves for their co-writes...and if just 2 people are involved,...

    Re: Songs in the documentary

Sad but true Brooke. I am a "younger" fan, meaning I wasn't part of the target audience when they first came along (I was born around the time HC came out) , and I'm in my early 40s now!!!!!
  20. Re: The last great Frey and Henley co-write

So I guess really, there may not be any hard and fast rules then, but does seem that the Eagles have sorta traveled back and forth with "most content" and "initial idea" in how they determined it.

Here's a Don Felder Quote, that I found on another thread about Hotel California song writing credits originally posted by Sodascouts.

"But I did want to say something about “Hotel California.”...
  22. Re: Celebration of Selected Works: 1972-1999.

I think a nice DVD package would be splendid.
A concert from the Hotel California tour, one from the Long Run, HFO and HOTE.4 DVD set. I'd pay 100.00 for that everyday of the week.

    Re: Songs in the documentary

I would love more HFO era stuff....I love that era of the band.
I have the 95 Christchurch concert and it's great. Too bad it's freezing and raining and the guys are pretty miserable looking,...

    Re: Live or Studio?

A couple of points to the live edge is just stuff like the following little things.
    1. Tequilla Sunrise extra verse....love that.
    2. In the City....HOTE Walsh solo is amazing.
    3. well, shake it...
  25. Re: For Those Saying Glenn Frey is Necessary to the Eagles; no Glenn, no legit Eagles

Yeah, I was shocked at how their voices were in the show I was listening to from March. Early in the tour, you'd think their voices would be as good as they will be for the tour.
