Re: Bernie Speaks! A new interview with Mr. Leadon

As for the phaser, I can't remember the sound it produces. Does it split the signal in two and make them go in and out of phase?

Re: Bernie Speaks! A new interview with Mr. Leadon

With "basics" Bernie of course refers to basic tracks, which - certainly in the case of the Eagles - means the whole band playing live in the studio and recording the song before they add overdubs...

Re: Don Felder in the Press/Blogs/etc.

If I could relive one moment in my life, I would rather watch my child seeing this world for the first time again than coming up with a chord progression! 😃 The HC progression is a variation of an...

Bernie is certainly very cool. Not as cool as Glenn, but close! 😁

Re: Don Felder in the Press/Blogs/etc.

One crucial step in that direction would, IMO, be if Don admitted that the facts he chose to tell and omit in his book were carefully chosen. (like the Glenn photo!) If he could say that it was...

Re: Don Felder in the Press/Blogs/etc.

IMO Don F has been a bit more intelligent in some of the more recent interviews I've seen. At least in the Jonesy interview. Intelligent as opposed to pure emotion from a "me, me" place. Joe is...

I understand your point. It's a complicated issue, I'm not sure what to think.

Re: Don Felder in the Press/Blogs/etc.

I'm not sure if Glenn really wanted to control Joe as much as to never have anything to do with a person (Felder) again. I can sort of see it happening when Glenn's Eagles was still out there, but...

Re: Don Felder in the Press/Blogs/etc.

I can see Joe playing on Don's record. Eagles has changed. When Glenn was alive there was, understandably, this Felder vs. Eagles thing. But with the band being what it is now - with Vince Gill,...

Re: Celebration of "One of These Nights"!

The very last notes in that solo are ideed similar to what I was talking about ("Taadat-tatadaa, taadat-tatadaa"). Not exactly the same, but the same vibe.
  13. Re: Eagles to perform Hotel California in its entirety

I think it was a wishful thinking kind of joke. Randy joining to sing/play his song would be the only thing from the current band I'd be interested in looking at!

Re: Celebration of "One of These Nights"!

Sorry for all these posts, but it's easier for me now than to edit (my phone still plays tricks on me). The specific rhythm I mentioned as an example includes short staccato notes followed by a...

Re: Celebration of "One of These Nights"!

Here between 2:29 - 2:39 Don plays something that could have been played by Glenn later on, I think. Fluent/smooth playing with that kind of...can't find an adjective..."determined" rhythm....

Re: Celebration of "One of These Nights"!

    I can't without a guitar! 😄

I'm not saying that Glenn actually was influenced by Don, but it's a feeling I get sometimes. One example. Listen to the rhythm in the phrase Don plays between 2:16 -...

I've often felt that certain things Felder played on this album may have influenced Glenn's lead playing in the future. The first couple of bars in the ATTIG solo is rhythmically similar to some...

Re: Celebration of "One of These Nights"!

As for slowly abandoning the country influences...for me Lyin' Eyes is easily the best song on the album. A song can be in any genre if it's that great. 😁
  19. Re: Eagles to perform Hotel California in its entirety

Yeah, I don't believe either that Don PERSONALLY thinks they need "the blood" to go on as "Eagles". Even before they started this thing with Deacon and Vince he was talking about how people might see...

Re: Don Felder in the Press/Blogs/etc.

I checked Don's book and I'm a bit confused. He says he wrote all the music except Joe's solo, but then he says that they added the talk-box stuff later.

Well, it was short, so I managed to read it. I remember reading that the talkbox parts weren't part of his initial demo.

Re: Don Felder in the Press/Blogs/etc.

I don't have time to read it right now, but does he say that he wrote the talkbox melodies in Those Shoes? I seem to recall reading that he wrote them with Joe. But I could be wrong.

Re: Don Felder in the Press/Blogs/etc.

"No harm done"? My point was that personally I got the impression from his book that HC was the first single, so his words can certainly be understood that way.
