I've been meaning to post my comments in this thread for a while now, but haven't found the time. I was right with my first post. After completing my homework assignment and reviewing the videos, I came to the conclusion that I liked all of them. Even the ones that don't have much going for them other than the hot male singer - that's enough to keep me interested and watch. However, I do like some more than others, so I decided to rank them, which is always a very difficult task for me (in fact, I could change my mind with the order very easily if someone gives me a good reason). The order is on how much I like the videos, not the songs - although in a couple of cases, I was having a hard time between two, so how much I liked the song was the tiebreaker. Here goes:

    1. YBTTC - I love how it comments and depicts the story of living in the city with the constant motion, and the one night stand. To me it says, even with all the activity and people, life can still be lonely.

    2. Smuggler's Blues - Again, the video is so good at telling the story, but killing off Sugar at the end is disturbing for me.

    3. I've Got Mine - If this video did a better job of telling the story, it would probably be my favorite since this is one of my favorite solo songs. I also wondered why Glenn used women primarily in the video to depict the rich people.

    4. Soul Searchin' - I just like it a lot - it's sensitive and romantic.

    5. I Found Somebody - I like the way this one depicts the story. I always thought the song portrayed the 70's and '80's fickle trend of falling in and out of love so easily, and to me that's exactly what the video says.

    6. The One You Love - Love torn Glenn is HOT - make me want to just grab him and ... oh, you girls understand.

    7. THIO - This one would be rated higher if it featured the hot male singer more instead of all those movie action shots.

    8. Sexy Girl - Even though it's not one of my favorite songs, in this case, the video helps make the song more enjoyable. I think it is just cute.

    9. True Love - This one is the the opposite of Sexy Girl. I love the song a lot more than the video, but guitarless Glenn is good (and HOT).

    10. POMPOY - see the THIO.

    11. Living Right - I think it's cute. It was meant to be a parody and it succeeds. And for me, even square-haired Glenn is hot. Apparently, Mrs. Right agreed.

    12. Some Kind of Blue - Neither the song or the video are among my favorites. But there is not just one, but two, hot male singers in it, which makes it enjoyable to watch.

    13. Living in the 21st Century - Unlike some of you, I love this song. I think the lyrics are very clever, and the music rocks. However, the video ranks last on my list because although the hotness is still there, you actually have to search for it beyond the bleach - and for me, that's a first.

And BTW FP - I also think their may be some validity to your theory about Strange Weather's failure due to the videos.

Interesting, dreamer. I'm surprised I've Got Mine is so high on your list - it's so drab to me - but a lot of your other assessments I agree with.

Soda - As far as I've Got Mine - it may be that my love for the song affects my rating of the video. I agree that I don't believe the video captures the essence of the song as well as it should. I think one reason I like the song and video is because it has some personal meaning to me. I once dated a guy who inherited a rather large sum of money, and I witnessed first hand that money does not buy happiness. I watched this once really nice man become increasingly guilty, paranoid, untrusting, uncaring, and unhappy as he struggled to come to terms with his "good" fortune. I may read more into the song than Glenn actually intended, but I relate the song to that relationship on so many levels. His unhappiness eventually lead to the end of our relationship, and I lost touch with him. But, I really hope he eventually resolved his issues, and found true happiness living the "good" life.

I see what you're saying, and I too love the song. Perhaps it's silly of me to be bothered by the fact that all the uncaring rich are women in it. Regarding the song itself, though, I can't fault it, and I think you can never read too much into a song. Whatever it means to you is valid.

It's a fact that showy rich women are perhaps more interesting to portray in a video like this than men in suits. Why? Who knows. The video could have been much better IMO but that is an interesting take you have on the song, Kay. I suppose we also have to bear in mind that L&M weren't able to get a complete version so we don't know if that's what the whole song looks like.

I love watching him sing it in Dublin because he really puts so much emotion into it and he obviously feels the song very deeply. It would be a good one for the Eagles to do, as I have said before.

And anyone is welcome to find the complete version of I've Got Mine. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)"> We didn't tape it ourselves. Someone was kind enough to share it with us. At least we have it.

(one of these days I'll figure out how to quote posts)

*Squee* My kind of thread!!! I am a director, or that's what I want to be...especially of music videos...so I love dissecting them.

Unfortunately, I have not seen any of Glenn's. *hits forehead* Definitely will be checking out all these links!

"You Belong To The City" is my favorite song of Glenn's, and actually what ultimately made me buy my first album of his, that and my best friend's obsession with him ...I've loved that song since it came out and had no idea it was him until just a few years ago! (Of course, I was very, very young at the time and obsessed with mermaids, and thought it was called "You Belong To The Sea" and was about a mermaid, but that's completely besides the point. I really want to see this video, even if it does have cheesey 80's moments. "I've Got Mine"...I've had an idea for a video for that song ever since I first listened to it, so I'd sort of like to do a little video for it myself before seeing it, then compare the 2, LOL!

Man, I have some Frey-fandom catching up to do!

    ~*She'll always be...the girl from yesterday...*~

My friend and I: "Nice coat Glenn!"

Joe Walsh, at next pause between songs: "Hey, nice coat, Glenn."

Glenn: "Thanks, thanks...yah, I picked this up at the..Liberace garage sale, glad you like it..."

While I have big fat high quality files of Part of Me, Part of You and Heat Is On on my site as well as a link to The One You Love, I don't have any of the others on here. The main unofficial Eagles site I mentioned to you before has them all for download though, in nice small bite-size RealPlayer files that are easy to download. Those site admins post here under one name as "eaglesfans" so you can thank them for that. (You may remember them from The Ledge as HenleyFan).

here is a link to that page: www.eaglesfans.com/downlo...tmymtv.htm

Awesome! I will definitely be heading over there.

Hehe, my roomie is currently bugging me because I said we'd go to the coffee shop down the street, like, 3 hours ago... I told him I got temporarily distracted by Glenn Frey. Not hard to do..!

First of all - welcome to the board, Bree. Seems like you are gonna fit right in here. Many of us here frequently get distracted by Glenn Frey. And most of our mates have just had to learn to adjust to this.
