I just read the thread. Tessa, sitting in row 5 (and if it's like the concerts I went to you won't be sitting much) you will be able to see the shoe laces on Don H's work boots! I hope you have the time of your life! Enjoy!

    Its "over" the first rows.
So I will be able to see the whole Mr. Henley like he's standing right in front of me and not only his shoes *yippie*.

Its the same seat like during the Beach Boys Concert. My Lovey said: "Why is Bruce starring at us?? He makes me nervous!". Honey, he's not starring at us, our faces are in the dark. LOL

This was probably already reported somewhere else on the board and I may have even commented on it already so I apologize for re-opening a can of worms as sometimes my memory fails me but here goes.

I was listening to Mark & Brian (KLOS) here in LA this morning and Kevin Cronin, from REO Speedwagon, called in and during the course of his conversation with M&B about their current tour, he mentioned that Irving Azoff owns ILAA. Makes sense so I did some research and it turns out FrontLine Management, Azoff's company, does indeed own ILAA. To quote Kevin, "Irving owns the world."

Azoff also seems to want to "own" all our money too. Not that that's immoral, illegal, or bad. It is what it is, but when times are tough and people are struggling just to buy the necessities of life, then you'd think they'd reduce the price instead of increasing the price and scalping front row seats in the bargain.

Yesterday, I was able to score a second row center seat for Bob Dylan/John Mellencamp concert for $100 through Dylan's web-site presale at the same venue (CBBA) I had to wait two months for a second row ticket-drop for the Eagles. I also paid $230 for that ticket.

Dylan charges nothing for the password and most of the pre-sale seats were equally as good. This man is a legend who, like the Beatles, revolutionized the music industry. Case In Point: Back in 1965, LARS was the first non-formula hit song over three mintues. It clocks in at just under six minutes setting precedent for such Eagles' classics as DH, LE and LROOE to name just a few.

Just my two cents. Come on Irving have a heart.

    That's your problem right there...Irving doesn't have a heart.

It's market value, folks. Bob Dylan couldn't get that much if he tried.

I think ILAA actually derived its name in part form Irving's initials - Irving L. Azoff. You know, like Irvine Meadows.

Sorry Nancy but I respectfully disagree.

It's greed, not market value, that drives the ticketing practices of the Eagles and it's not all Irving's doing, although we would like to believe otherwise (me included), lest we come to terms with the fact that the Eagles (in the final analysis) sanction what he does.

Personally, even though I will probably incur the wrath of the Gods (sorry Felder) from some, if not most Eagles' fans, but I do believe that the Eagles have become a far too costly Leviathan "slouching toward Bethlehem" on their "long road out of Eden." I oftentimes wish, that the Eagles, would stop trying so hard to "be fabulous," dump their extravagantly expensive backup band and strip down to the core element that was the Eagles. Ah, me.

I know, very hippie-sixties of me but Timmy did it on his mini Expando Tour. No need for even roadies-the band set up themselves and they used fans like me to do publicity at the shows. No ticket over $20. But like Henley laments, "it's hard to stop this engine once you get a taste." I wish that they'd stop the engine because I, for one, could care less about the band "being fabulous."

Time to get off my soap box. Again sorry for beating a dead horse, but I was just a bit irritated that performers like Dylan and Jackson Browne can manage to keep it real. I just think it's time to "Take it Easy" as I'm sure their "plates are full (enough)." Just wish they had some "Compassion" with respect to ticketing practices that's all.

I agree with you CL. I dream of a stripped down Eagles set often! I could do w/out all the extra people on stage. Not that we don't all love Steurt, Will, Scott...but "I" personally would love just the four Eagles on Stage. I don't need graphics or extra musicians. The Eagles have enough talent to fill the sound of song, they don't need horns, more keyboards, more percussions, etc.

While people will pay for $230 for a ticket, they shouldn't have to. A VIP package should start at $200, not $500! I see no reason any concert ticket should ever have a face value of more that $150. Trust me, I'm being generous at $150. If it's to cover the cost to run the show, cut out the extras. In all honesty, the main reason I did not see the Eagles last show was because it was too expensive. I wanted to go. If it was $100-150 I'd have been there w/out giving it a second thought. However, $230 is almost a quarter of a thousand dollars, for a few hours of entertainment.

Okay, I'm just gonna stop now, because I can go on forever...

CL--I believe you are spot on!!! I'd wager a half a dozen front row tickets that the reason for the high cost is GREED!!!

Unfortunately people will continue to pay those extremely unreasonable prices and they will continue to charge them because they do. I will admit, I felt a bit of "ha, I knew it" when they had to cancel a few shows recently due to low ticket sales. And as I've said about a gazillion times already, I vow NOT to spend that kind of money (unless a front row ticket falls in my lap like it almost did last Friday). I was pretty devastated when that ticket didn't materialize but later, after the initial shock of having it then not having it wore off, I was glad, for lack of a better word, that I was able to keep to my convictions and not put out the money.

You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who loves the Eagles as much as us on this board but I don't feel I have to prove my love for them by spending over a $1500 for 4 concert tickets ever again. I envy those of you that can do that several times over and travel great distances to do so but unfortunately I'm not one who can. (I know where you are coming from Evelyn!) I told hubby last Friday that if I had the money to do so, I would travel all over the world to see this band but I have not won that lottery yet so therefore that money is better spent paying the mortgage payment and car payment and medical bills and children's educations....Real life just sucks some times but in the greater scheme of things, I have it pretty darn good so I don't really regret the fact that I don't get to see them a half dozen times a year and am thankful that I have had the chance to see them even once or twice.

CL--I agree that for the money, Timothy's show was an awesome deal and truly another dream come true for me!! I never imagined he'd ever do solo show's and then for one to land 1 & 1/2 hours away for $22 a ticket and to find myself within feet of him performing..... **SIGH**

Bottom line is, as long as people pay those prices, they will continue to charge those prices. The only way to get them lowered is for people to just stop doing it and hurt them where it counts. Unfortunately, I doubt that would even work at this point and that is when, instead of lowering prices, they would simply just say "it was a good ride but we're done".

Climbing down off my soap box now and stopping before this post turns into an essay on greed!!

When I meant "market value" I simply meant that it's what people will pay, so they charge it. It's not as if I enjoy paying so much for a ticket, although not having kids and all of that does give me more financial freedom.

This isn't the first time this topic has come up. Check out this thread where they get criticized a great deal for the prices.
