Top Ten Joe Walsh songs from Ultimate Classic Rock.

" His unique, inimitable guitar playing sets him apart from most of his contemporaries — Walsh is the rarest of guitar heroes, one who doesn't overplay, instead using his innate sense of tone and phrasing to construct simple melodies that perfectly communicate the heart of each song. "

That's a pretty good list, IMO especially considering that some of these type lists can really miss the mark. I would change the order around some and I'd have to replace Waffle Stomp with Turn to Stone.

That's a pretty good list but I'd change the top three around a bit.

    Instead of:

    1. Rocky Mountain Way
    2. Funk #49
    3. Life's Been Good

    I'd go:

    1. Life's Been Good
    2. Rocky Mountain Way
    3. Funk #49

To me LBG is the be all end all of Joe songs. It's such a good song.

Joe discusses the history of the talk-box:

Great article. Funny about Joe and Peter talking about it now.

I can't locate the article right now, but it was an old interview with Joe where he said "I taught Frampton to use the talk box but he never gave me any credit", or something like that.

I like Peter Frampton, but Joe is the talk box master. Sure, Frampton has more songs that use it, but RMW is THE talk box anthem.

I just got around to reading this article. Very informative - the talk box goes back further than I thought!

It's such a cool instrument. I don't have one - I hear there is actually a lot of maintenance involved in the ones that sound good (replacing drivers and such), and the ones that don't need replacing as much don't sound as good. I have enough expenses just putting new tubes in all of my amps every year!!!!
