    I've been doing a little research.

    I can't remember where but I read, somewhere, that Joe's short instrumental intro to Turn To Stone was a cover of a Roy Buchanan tune titled Miles From Earth.
    It was suggested that Joe had heard Roy's cover of Turn To Stone and had then adopted the track that preceded it on Roy's album (The Opening / Miles From Earth) as the introduction.

    This sounded very unlikely to me, especially as the same tune turns up, several years later, on Joe's, 1992 album. Songs For A Dying Planet, credited to Joe, as part of the album's centrepiece, Decades.

    Well there's no doubt that it's the same tune;

    The Roy Buchanan album, that features The Opening / Miles From Earth and Turn To Stone, (You're Not Alone) dates from 1978. A couple of years after You Can't Argue With A Sick Mind.

    The rhythm section on You're Not Alone is Andy Newmark and Willie Weeks (same as You Can't Argue With A Sick Mind)

    The writer of The Opening / Miles From Earth is credited as the album's producer/keyboard player, Jean Roussel.

    I reckon that's pretty strong evidence that Joe's had one of his songs nicked by a guy with a french name!

    Thanks for the link MV

    Excellent detective work Funk 50. I noticed long ago that the opening Joe plays on that performance is different then all the rest. I had no idea it had a name. I didn't even know that Roy Buchanan covered Turn to Stone!! Great post! Thanks.

    I bet Joe didn't know it had a name either!

    Great news but not.

    Joe's got a new live, compilation CD coming out. More from his drunk years.
    I've probably got most of this stuff already but it's definitely my least favourite Walsh era. It unfortunately seems to be his most documented live.

    This is a Netherlands website, and I'm not sure the release is an official one sanctioned by Joe. I'm thinking if it were, it would be in media here in the States and on his website. I guess we'll see in the coming days!

    A small mention of Joe where he bought some drums for Ringo.

    I do believe this is a bootleg label. I too probably have all of these recordings. It's too bad that more stuff from the '70's isn't released. I do have a few good recordings from so long ago.
