Apparently Joe attended at least one U2 concert the end of last week.

You can't change the world but you can change yourself.
Joe seems to be long time pals with everyone!
A week or two ago, the great Gamma Goochie, Walsh blog posted some brilliant shots of Barnstorm.

I notice that a couple of photographs have drummer, Joe Vitale on vocals.
Vitale sang Bookends and Days Gone By on The Smoker You Drink The Player You Get album but none of the Barnstorm set lists, that I've seen (not many to be honest), have those tracks included in them.
I wonder what song(s) they're performing.
I so want to see that mural when it's completed.

Well thanks a lot MV.
I was very pleased to find a Walsh site labelled Gamma Goochie, I thought I was on my own in loving that cover. Midnight Visitor is one of my favourites too.
In Vitale's book, Backstage Pass, he says, Joe(W) let him sing some songs from his solo album Plantation Harbor during Walsh's There Goes The Neighborhood Tour in 1981. I've not heard or seen any set lists that include Vitale solo songs so I suppose it is possible, maybe even likely, that Barnstorm performed some of Vitale's songs but thus far, I've found no documentary evidence.
I've heard a few Barnstorm versions of Turn To Stone but I don't recall Vitale doing any vocals on it.
I don't believe Joe V. has ever done a lead vocal while touring w/Walsh. I could be wrong but I see zero evidence of it. Obviously we know Joe V. toured w/his own group because it's discussed in his book. I don't recall Joe V. mentioning anything about singing lead in w/Walsh in his book. In fact Plantation Harbor was released after the 1981 tour!

...er, there's these Barnstorm photos where it's quite clear that Vitale is on mic but Walsh is not.
The quote from Backstage Pass is on page 204;
Joe Walsh decided to do a second leg of the Neighborhood Tour, and generously allowed me to play a couple of the songs from my album each night
That's enough evidence for me but I'll be looking out for more.
