Happy 42nd birthday to Desperado indeed!

Superb album, I will probably post some more thoughts about the music later, but for now I just say that it's among my favourites by anyone and just behind Hotel California as my second favourite Eagles album. In fact I'm going to listen to it right now.

By the way I absolutely love your avatar and signature marking the occasion, soda! You should use them again!

Bitter Creek is a real gem. I'm still under some weird spell every time I hear it. I wish they had chosen to play that on the "magical history tour".

    Happy birthday Desperado.

Absolutely belting album, still my favoruite after all this time (I have a feeling I said the same thing for the OTB anniversary too ) and the album that made me fall in love with a certain band called the Eagles. Will attest forever that the closing song is both the most emotional I've heard them and has their finest harmonies. Spine-tingling.

Just like in that Seinfeld episode! Elaine's boyfriend (and Jerry IIRC) would go into a kind of trance when "Desperado" was played. Another character, a doctor, was under the spell of "Witchy Woman."

There's just something compelling about Eagles music. Maybe they embedded hypnotic suggestions in some of the tracks. Nah, it's their talent that is spell-binding.

Sorry, back on topic: is that little promotional film that the band made at Paramount Ranch available in full anywhere?

    HAPPY 42ND ANNIVERSARY DESPERADO!!!

I don't know how many ways to say I love this album, but, if I have to say so myself, this thread is a fantastic tribute to this brilliant album. If you haven't read it before, it is definitely worth the investment of time to do so.

And a huge 42-year THANK YOU to all the players that made it happen:

Standing: Gary Burden, Larry Penny, Richie Fernandez, Boyd Elder, Tommy Nixon, John Hartmann, Glyn Johns

Outlaws: Jackson Browne, Bernie Leadon, Glenn Frey, Randy Meisner, Don Henley, JD Souther

**And to Henry Diltz for all of the fantastic photography

I was watching a documentary on PBS yesterday called "Children of Giant," about the filming of the James Dean - Elizabeth Taylor movie in Marfa, Texas in 1955. Much to my surprise, artist Boyd Elder was featured - apparently he is from nearby Valentine, TX which was also in the film (as the poor Mexican village). As ya'll know, Boyd did the artwork for many Eagles albums and the first official Eagles gig was at his gallery show in Venice.

The longest version I've seen is on this Diltz/Burden "Under the Covers" doc.

This has been my favourite Eagles album for 42 years and I don't see that changing.
