Yeah, but what about the whole " I thought just for safeties sake, you know for a world safety net, it was a good thing to do."? What in the heck does that mean? Does he know something we don't?

LOL - It's a mystery. I'm sure there are many hoops you have to jump through to become a citizen in Ireland (as in any country) so it must of been very important to Jean for some reason.
The Sunday Times has more on the dual citizenship thing. Can't tell if they just took what he said in the Hot Press interview and put their own spin on it (for example, in the Hot Press interview he didn't say he was planning on getting an Irish passport) or if he talked about it in an interview with them as well. It does tell how he most likely obtained the citizenship (doesn't sound that difficult) and that being granted Irish citizenship isn't that uncommon.

I don't know, but it all still seems kinda strange to me. The whole "safety" and "There's a new kid in town. Timothy B Schmit, the bass player with the Eagles, has become an Irish citizen after his wife convinced him it would be safer than just holding an American passport." Whatever!

LOL - I agree.
You know in neither of those articles did I see a quote from Timothy that he was planning on getting an Irish passport. When asked about a passport he said he didn't have one yet, which is not the same as saying he's getting one. (There are a lot of things I haven't done yet, many of which I have no plans at all to do.) The Times article did do a good job of explaining why someone might want one though.

From what I understand if highjacked American passport holders are targeted first by Terrorist and others usually released or at least treated better . Therefore Americans who travel a lot overseas are trying to get passports from different countries so they will be safer traveling esp if traveling with family. Makes sense in that light i guess.
TELL ME WHAT YOU DREAM AT NIGHT WHEN YOU'RE SLEEPING
I guess everyone wants to be Irish
