Gordon Lightfoot was also one of my favourites in the 70's we don't hear anything of him over here now - I thought he was dead

TG, after reading your post I did some research. In 2002 Gordon Lightfoot underwent surgery for a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm, enduring a six week coma and a tracheotomy. He underwent four surgical operations and remained in the hospital for three months.
In 2006 he sufffered a light stroke during a performance that left him without the use of his middle and ring finger on his right hand. For a brief time he used a substitute guitarist for more difficult guitar work, but by early 2007 he had regained full use of his right hand and plays all of the guitar parts in concert as he originally wrote them.
In February 2010 Gordon was the victim of a death hoax originating from Twitter. He quickly dispelled those rumors by reporting that he was alive and well. He continues to perform today.

I had no idea about his health. I, like you, mostly listened to his work from the 60's and 70's. I heard he was going to be in the Chicago area this past October and expressed to Hubby that I would like to see him, but we didn't go. I'd like to see him soon.

And I dream I'm on vacation 'Cause I like the way that sounds,
It's a perfect occupation for me.
Thanks for the info Cathy I still have a cassette tape or two of his that I play.....not very often, but when I do it's like it was just yesterday!
Glad to hear he's recovered from his illness/s and is still going strong!

I had tickets for his concert here in 2002 which, of course was cancelled. At that time I never would have thought that he would ever be performing again! He was back here last year some time, but I wasn't able to go. Still hoping to see him sometime. He's a survivor!
Wow, Gordon is a survivor. I didn't know all that either. Thanks Pm!

Love this song. Love the video for many reasons, one of which becomes blindingly obvious at 1.33.
