This is my first time in this thread. I guess I'm feeling guilty about not going to the gym today. I joined a gym in November because I really feel I need to lose about 10-15 pounds & during the winter I can get very lazy about it. My last visit was Wed. & I literally had to force myself to go.

I find it hard to stay motivated. I pulled something in my hip about 2 weeks ago & couldn't go to the gym for about a week, & then it was really hard to get back into it. I can make excuses & blow it off.

I did lose 5 pounds, but it's slow going. I have a really hard time losing weight because I used to be very skinny & could eat anything, but as I get older, that is not the case....I gained about 10 pounds over the past 5 years & I am not happy... Any advice on how to stay motivated??? I get bored with it very easily...

I'm about the same as you TK. I used to be able to eat anything I wanted to. Now I need to lose 5-10 pounds to be happy with myself.

I have a treadmill at home and just have to drag myself to it. I do try to manage to get in 3 days a week on it though. I should do more, but finding the time is hard. On nice days I go outside for a walk, but I can't take the cold in the winter. I have a s n l that walks at least 3 miles every day no matter what the weather. I don't know how she does it.

Well, I made it to the gym today. I find that once I'm there, I'm OK, but it's just the thought of going that gets to me. When I'm in the gym, I usually do 1/2 hour or more of weights & then 1/2 hr. on the eliptical. The winter gets me unmotivated to go, because I have to bundle up, put boots on & then get undressed there. It's just a pain in the butt. We have a gym in my building, but it is being renovated right now, which will take 6 months, which is why I had to join the gym a few blocks away. I guess I was spoiled that I only had to get on the elevator to go to the gym upstairs. I was just afraid that if I didn't work out for 6 months, I would gain weight. It sucks.... I try to go 3 times a week, but I struggle with it. I can't walk outside, it's just way to cold for me.
