Soda - HC was released on Dec. 8, 1976 and on the charts during your birthday week. A great birthday week.

Happy Anniversary to One Of These Nights.

I always call this album the "step in the right direction" Eagles record. On The Border scratched the surface, One Of These Nights really opened the door, and Hotel California sealed the deal.

Yep. They were distancing themselves from country then. Little did they know that, decades later, they would cycle back to including some country tunes on their albums.

As for slowly abandoning the country influences...for me Lyin' Eyes is easily the best song on the album. A song can be in any genre if it's that great. 😁

I've often felt that certain things Felder played on this album may have influenced Glenn's lead playing in the future. The first couple of bars in the ATTIG solo is rhythmically similar to some things Glenn played later IMO.

I personally am glad they started ditching the country thing. They did have a few on LROOE but they weren’t my thing. I also wasn’t a fan of TGFY from HFO. By the time of The Long Run that country sound was just completely gone and wouldn’t be heard again until HFO.

I can see (hear) that for sure.

Interesting. Could you expand a bit on that?
