Hey guys! I hurried off to an internet cafe so I could type up this quickie review. And here it is!

Seeing the Eagles at Twickenham Rugby Stadium was great. The place was packed and, although it was hot, it wasn’t stifling. The sun shone and even though the show started at 7:00, it felt like the afternoon. The guys didn’t bother changing clothes this show. It was too hot to do the dressy thing for Part 1, I guess! Glenn wore jeans, a white T-shirt, and a hot pink overshirt. Joe wore some funny orange pants and a black T-shirt. Later he put on a black leather jacket which I thought looked very cool. Don wore a light checked shirt and black pants. Tim wore a light grey shirt and black pants as well.

What can I say about the show? It was fabulous. WitchyMummy noticed that Glenn seemed to have a sniffle – he kept wiping his nose. I hope he felt OK – his performance was great, but as he stood in the shadows while Don was spotlit for Desperado, I saw him kind of rub his forehead, and I wonder if he had a sinus headache or something!

Vocally, everyone sounded good, although Don sounded a little hoarse at first. Before long that went away, though. The guy who co-wrote Love Will Keep Us Alive was there, and they gave him a shout-out. Glenn also mentioned that they worked on their first album in England. As far as jokes went, we got the old Plaintiff one, but also a couple new ones during band intros (at least ones that I hadn’t heard before). Glenn called the horn section “the Judgment Day Refreshment Committee” and called Al Garth “a known sax offender.” That got a guffaw out of me, lol.

There wasn’t a lot of interplay between the guys, although they did sort of line up for Boys of Summer (Tim never really got all the way over there, but he almost did). I did see Glenn and Don laugh about something one time – who knows what? Tim was so friendly to fans, posing for photos. And people were blatantly taking photos – at one point there was a whole mass of people just standing in the aisle snapping away until they were dispersed (although OAG still got in trouble because her camera is so awesome). I got a few decent photos, but I know others got even better ones!

I didn’t notice any deluxe versions of the songs, but I thought No More Cloudy Days sounded especially good. Glenn’s vocal on it was very tender, and he improvised an extra “no more cloudy days” at the end of that song when there’s usually just instruments. Hole in the World was flawless and impassioned. When it came time to take it up a notch, Joe’s later songs had everyone rocking out. That man can play and the crowd was eating it up, myself included, especially Funk 49. Heartache Tonight was another standout. It brought the house down. In fact, from Heartache Tonight on, the show was pure energy. Hotel California was also a show-stopper, with everyone getting into it. And we all swayed and sang along to Desperado. (Something I hadn’t noticed before – when Don tips the mic to the crowd for the echo “Let somebody love you” – Glenn sings with the crowd. I think Tim and Joe might too but I didn’t get a chance to look over at them and see. I thought that was cool though.)

The crowd energy was terrific, making the show even better. What a special night!

Shallow addendum for Glenn Groupies: I was fourth row center, and directly across from Glenn. It was like Sacramento all over again in that it was hard not to stare at him the entire time, he looked so handsome. However, since the light was better due to all the sunshine, I got an even better view of him peforming. I feel like I'm going to be repeating some of the Sacramento comments because it was just as sexy. As he always does, he closed his eyes almost the entire time he sang, but he really gave it his all. Especially when it came time to hit those high notes or the most impassioned ones, he threw his whole body into it - and it didn't matter if he was singing lead or if he was in the background singing harmony or just "ooohs." And even if he was just mouthing words, his expressive face was in the moment. Again, this is going to sound repetitive, but I just can't get over how sexy it is when he crinkles his eyesbrows and draws in his breath sharply or when he leans his head back slowly and parts his lips and gets this sensual expression on his face – you girls know the look I mean – yes, I got hot from more than the weather. And he did that OFTEN. He is too sexy for words.

I'm uploading my photos now. They are mediocre, but I'm glad I have personal momentoes, even if others will have better shots.
