The Eagles were constantly on the radio in the 70s but they never appeared, live on Top Of The Pops. Which might explain why they were regarded as an album band
Resident dance act Legs And Co., danced to New Kid In Town and Hotel California. I dunno about the rest.
I had a little look but couldn't find any clips (that hadn't been blocked)

The closest I could find was Glenn Frey and Don Henley (separately) on Top of the Pops in 1985.
I watched that other BBC4 documentary about "How to have a hit single" and it made the point about the importance of appearing on TotP. It's not like Asylum didn't know the importance - they got their other new group, Jo Jo Gunne on in spring 1972.

Woweeeee, UTW, THANK you!!! Absolutely brilliant - I honestly didn't remember that Don had been on TOTP and I used to watch it religiously - talk about HOT, HOT, HOT - I need a drink to cool down

Thanks for those UTW - I can't resist saying that the heat is definitely on those two boys of summer!!! They are so hot that I thought my computer screen was going to melt when I played them back-to-back!

I found this video on YouTube. Glenn singing and playing piano on Take It To The Limit. I don't know what year this is from, but the video says Cincinnati.
It's cool to see a video of Glenn playing the piano on this song since he's been playing guitar on this song when they put it back in the set and he hasn't played the piano on this song since the 70s.
